I’m enjoying a free petite treat from Starbucks courtesy of My Starbucks Rewards! For those who don’t know, if you use a registered Starbucks card to pay for purchases at Starbucks, you can earn “rewards” which sometimes will include random coupons being mailed to you. I enjoy the random coupons because they’re such a nice surprise! In the past, Starbucks has mailed out a coupon for a free holiday treat, a free tall Frappuccino, free oatmeal, and there was a coupon for 15% off merchandise also.
If you are reading this, and you have questions about My Starbucks Rewards, I would be glad to try and answer them. Just post in the comments! Keep in mind that I am only writing about the United States version of My Starbucks Rewards. There are Starbucks rewards programs in the UK and in China, but the program details are different than the image listed below. This blog article does >not< pertain to the international versions of My Starbucks Rewards.
Did you get your coupon for a free petite treat, and if you did which treat did you get?
In other news, today marks the launch of the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino at Starbucks! It’s been missing from U.S. stores for years (though has been available in Hawaii for a long time). Almost exactly one year ago, I was writing on this blog about the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino because it seemed like it was time for it to come back. It’s back!
The other great thing that has returned starting today is the Three Region Blend coffee. Let me know what you think of it!
Talk about this or anything else that is Starbucks-related!

Free petite rewards coupon???? When did you get it? Did not get it. Wonder if they are doing a slow roll out of these coupons by different regions? Would be nice to get for sure. This am saw they had big signs up at my local SB for the new drinks. And they also had put out new gift cards, the cold cups and some other merchandise. Curious to see how many people got the rewards treat coupon.
I got mine a few weeks ago. However I am trying to eat less sugar so I bought a coworker one of the cake pops and he loved it.
The iced straw cups come out today too 🙂 im on my way to getting a venti cup. From what I’ve been told they are nicer than the older ones 🙂
@purple1 – Did you get the other coupons? Free oatmeal, or free holiday pastry? I think I got this coupon about two weeks ago.
I received my free petite card last week. Haven’t used it yet, but I think I need to try a cupcake. Though, it was funny I clicked on your link back to one of your posts about the free tall frappuccino coupon and I don’t remember if I ever received that one! I know I commented that I hadn’t, but I wonder if it ever ended up arriving. Thank you for having these posts, so I can keep track of myself! 🙂
Got mine! Also got the oatmeal one. But I don’t think I got any others. I love those little surprises!
New promo for us on Thursday! No new frappuccino flavours though which is a massive letdown when I see you getting Coconut! However we do eventually launch the ‘however-you-want-it’ frappuccinos which is a step in the right direction.
LOVELY seasonal coffee of Bali too. Beautiful rich tangerine and orange flavours with a herbal sweet aroma like chopped fresh herbs and rosemary. Incredible limited indonesian coffee I have to say!
And two Reserves for our 10 Reserve stores in the UK. Exciting times.
We (hubby and I) got our free petite coupons a couple of weeks ago. I used one on a peanut butter chocolate cupcake. I’ve still got the other one. He lets me use his coupon since he’s diabetic and doesn’t need extra sugar! The cupcake was good. I wonder though… if these petite treats are all under (but close to) 200 calories, does anyone feel satisfied by them? They seem like very little treat for that many calories.
Melody- no rewards coupons in quite some time. I guess perhaps my area did not get any coupons?
@purple1 – But wait I mean did you get ANY of these promo coupons? I mean the free petite treat, free oatmeal, free frappuccino – Are you sure you have your setting set right in your card account, because these are the coupons that you will NOT get unless you’ve set your account up to receive mailing offers.
Yes, I knew which coupons you were speaking of and yes I have the settings in place properly to get the mailing offers.
I have gotten all of the coupons (oatmeal, pastry, now the mini pastry) in the rewards program. I think Starbucks is doing an excellent job with this and treats it like a VIP program and not some low priority promotion. They sure make their money back when they send me one. They don’t flood your inbox with promo emails so when I do get one I always read it over.
did NOT receive this free petite. all other reward things were hit and miss…yes, oatmeal, no frapp, no 15% etc. I’m calling them. too inconsistent.
I got mine and used it on a birthday cake pop. I LOVE those! I got the free oatmeal but didn’t use it, and I haven’t gotten the free frapp. 🙁
So, I just called cust. service. Just like when I called pre-Christmas about the 15% off coupon, there was no explanation. They have no ability (I realize, of course) to send me a ‘petite’ coupon but they can send me a drink coupon.
Really really hate the inconsistency. I get my drink coupons fairly regularly so I do not think it is the USPS at all.
I also get my free drink coupons on a regular basis. Hardly ever if as often as others seem to get receive the treat rewards coupons. As been questioned before, is there a system they use to distribute these treat and special drink coupons? Denise, it is a shame you got no appropriate response from the customer service people.
I got mine! i haven’t tried all the treats yet so i can’t wait 🙂
purple1 that is so sad you don’t get any coupons 🙁
Do you have a safe mailbox? I know Melody had hers stolen for a while at a bad mailbox.
@purple1 – I hope it is still coming your way. I don’t have a clue what kind of criteria there is for who gets the coupons. I sometimes wonder if Starbucks pulls names out of a hat. 🙁
@KristySherrod – Welcome to the blog! Seems like lots of people like those cake pops. My faves are the little mini cupcakes and the salted caramel square. I was just looking at your blog – Coffee and Literature – If you had a Facebook page, I would definitely “like” it! (And I hope you will “like” mine too if you haven’t already). When I read your book review of Being Light, it definitely tempted me that I might want to read it, though I have a small stack of reading that I am working on right now. Hope to see you here again soon.
I have no problem with my mailbox and do get the free drink coupons without any problem. I have received rewards coupons, but it has been awhile since the last one came. Perhaps SB if you are reading this- Can you send another rewards coupon to me? Thanks.
I got mine too, but haven’t decided which one to try – they all look deadly!
No I didn’t get my card for a free petite treat nor did I get one for a free Frap. I am still at assisted living but it is my goal to be home and back in business soon and these will be a nice welcome home treat. I think I also have a card for a free drink that expires at the end of this month.
I registered my partner card as soon as I received mine back in the day. I remember the main reason I registered it was in case I lost it I could get my money back… and I have been DELIGHTED with all the changes– I was worried however since I’m a partner I may not get the coupons for free foods– (we usually get to sample new things like this at our store meetings when we talk about the new foods etc…) HOWEVER I still love a free treat as much as anyone… so when I got mine… I WAS THRILLED. I decided to enjoy the Salted Caramel Square. DELISH!
NOT in the mail again today.
All my mail is forwarded to the assisted living and, just like Denise above, I did not get mine.
I GOT MINE!!! Birthday Cakepop 🙂
🙁 No petite for me 🙁 or any of the other three registered card owners in our house.
Enjoyed a Three Regions Blend (and 2 refills) this morning, should please those that prefer a milder blend and roast. Had a slice of mediocre lemon cake/loaf with it, it was dry with very little lemon zip.
My Favortite Starbucks was sampling a press of Three Regions Blend and the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino, along with the lemon cake/loaf. I should have tried the sample of the lemon cake/loaf before buying the disappointing full piece.
The new 24 oz tumbler looks skinny and top heavy. I am sure they wanted to ensure that it fit in a vehicle’s cup-holder. I hope that if there is a version 3 that it has a wider base.
Yes I have changed my avatar, I am in a bit of a “growly’ mood 😉
the new tumblers are a lot different. They are taller, thicker and I think heavier than the ones in the past. I’m glad I bought one after having the one that I bought last year crack. These seem much more durable.
@DeniseR and @Purple1 – I am really confused about why these coupons aren’t always sent to you. I looked back and per your comments in these past threads, you both received the free oatmeal coupon that was sent out, but maybe not the free holiday treat. I wonder how I always end up getting every single one of them?
@AmyInBoston – I was just looking at the new tumblers with a friend who wanted a new one. There just isn’t much selection like there used to be years ago. The new handle tumbler looks and feel very heavy. And once again, there is almost no selection of “tall” tumblers right now. I’m not very enthusiastic about the current lineup of tumblers.
yup, I went to two stores today and neither one of them carried the tall tumbler. It makes me think that they didn’t realize the tall size. They are a lot heavier but they just seem to be thicker and I like that. They are heavier because the two cups separate this year so the barista can write what the drink is. Not sure why, but I thought that was kind of cool (Yup, I”m quite a dork).
Melody – we have quite a few different tall tumblers in right now, though nothing for cold drinks.
We had a 3 Region tasting today with Lemon Raspberry loaf. It was delicious.
We do not have the new Rewards program where I live, but I DID get a card for a birthday drink in the mail. Haven’t had a day off since it came to use it, but I will get a chance Thursday or Friday. 🙂
Amy in Boston – If you are the kind of customer who drinks the same drink every single time, then you could write your drink in the boxes permanently. I thought it might also be fun to put pictures on the inside of the cup.
Michelle-I never thought about that. Although I don’t drink the same thing everytime. Now, the picture idea is pretty cool 🙂
I know the typical cold cup tumblers that mostly everyone likes (the kind that look like a Frappuccino cup) only come in Grande and Venti. This year the Venti cold cup tumbler is actually the 24 ounces instead of 20 ounces…it looks GIGANTIC to me! I couldn’t bring myself to get it, and I don’t really get Venti anything there.
I’ve heard a lot of instances of the ones from previous years cracking…so I wonder if that had to do with the change in this year’s new design, rather than just a new siren.
Haven’t received any cards in ages (none so far this year, I think).
(And likely unrelated, but I did read that a mail carrier recently got caught stealing Starbucks cards in this area!)
I did get my coupon. Was very excited. As I am diabetic, I let my youngest daughter pick what she wanted and I had a very tiny taste. She picked the whoopee pie. It was okay.
Each of the adults in the house has a registered card so that no matter when the opportunity presents itself – we are working on free drinks.
This morning at my local SB one of the partners said they were getting in a lot of new merchandise and would be putting new items out. I saw some new gift card designs that were nice. I like when they change the designs. There seems to be no movement with anyone buying the HS book.
More than one new gift card. Kind of exciting….. I’m waiting for Melody to bl;og it;)
I was so excited by this coupon! It was like an ‘extra’ surprise! 🙂
Still waiting on my coupon. But not having a coupon hasn’t kept me from those delicious little treats. I just had two Red Velvet Whoopie Pies. So yummy.
Also, I am BEYOND excited about the return of the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino. I STILL remember the last time they were around—I can’t believe it’s been 9 years! It’s about time they made a comeback. I hope this time they don’t disappear for such a long time… They’re so delicious. I’m drinking one as I type this. 😉
I spent about 30min last nite, with Cecile’s (MSI) help, back and forth. The MSR team told her my address was coming up ‘unvalidated'(since 2008??????) or something in my accnt. Go re-enter it, no matter what. (even tho I recvd the sweet15 coupons and random other things)) I couldn’t even do what they (the Rewards team) were telling me… kept not coming out right. back and forth. Finally, a bit later, I looked in my account info and there it is: all my SAME-AS-EVER-ONE address about 5 times. they wanted a “nickname for it at one point, bla bla bla.
My point is: I think Sbux site (which as we know just had some re-working) messes up one’s info, apparently, over and over.
that’s my story, and Cecile was very generous and helpful, btw!!!
ps I know this is horribly horribly wrong and selfish but I just hate reading about rewards people got when I know I’m SUPPOSED TO BE INCLUDED!!!
no…I am happy for you guys, just maddening about Sbux and the inconsistencies and also for ALL of us who don’t get things properly…which likely includes everyone at some point or other.
Melody, I remember when you weren’t recving something in particular once…. ??? (not just the postal issue…??)
Mail came today and still no petite of frap. coupons. I must be on some sort of Starbucks black list.
Denise, “unvalidated address”?????? I’ve never heard of anything like that. Occasionally Starbucks has said how many Gold Card holders there are. I think Howard or some leadership person mentioned it again at the most recent earnings call but I don’t remember the number. I believe there is something like one million gold card holders. If you send out one million little paper cards for a free treat, that’s an expensive promotion. Every one of these coupons is expensive, though in the BIG scheme of things very doable give that it is a BILLION dollar corporation. I just assume that as a cost savings measure, not every single gold card person gets a freebie coupon, and I assume it has something to do with how many stars you have but the whole thing seems very mysterious. I wonder what makes someone a high frequency gold card holder.
As to lost rewards – Denise, I did have a problem for a while. It’s a long story. I actually genuinely have two different addresses in Seattle that I can use (I don’t want to explain that on a blog). Anyway, one address is much more secure than the other, and when I switched addresses, the missing drink coupon problem seemed to disappear.
Denise I think your situation is quite strange, but am happy to hear Cecile seemed to be responsive. What was the bottom line to the whole situation? Will you get some coupons sent to you? I still have not received any coupons either nor has Starbucks responded to my twitter request. This system has to change for sure.
Asked SM today how HS book is selling because I see no moment. He said hardly anyone has purchased copies and they are just sitting there. Curious as to how it is selling now in other parts of the country?
@purple1: same with the books in the stores here: not selling. not.
@Melody: I know what you’re referring to with your rewards and address etc but there was one time when you hadn’t recvd something…. after you chnaged your address. I don’t know… this is all a mess. and, re: the # I THINK it’s maybe 200,000 Gold carders but who knows???
Sbux repeatedly seems to have trouble with card members “info”. I think it’s their own IT issues personally. I don’t think most of these rewrds (unless a test market thing) have to do with # of stars. I think (as they’ve gone back and forth with me over the past 3 yrs) it’s their own mess up with their IT.
I guess I would urge everyone in the plan to check their accnt info periodically because apparently it can GET changed in a min.
also @purple: Cecile sent me a Sbux e-card, which was nice of her..that was the bottom line. it’s a mess over there. (sometimes;)
@denise
I went & checked my personal info. It -does- say “Address has not been verified. Please change to confirm.” Right under my address (I had received various cards in the past) Strange. Thanks for the info!
purple1 – we’ve sold almost all of our copies of Onward. But, it’s not something someone will just pick up and buy, you have to genuinely sell it. The majority of my partners have read the book and are able to speak to it. I also had a barista who was chosen to go to the partner event in Toronto to see Howard, so she speaks to it with genuine enthusiasm. If the partners in the store haven’t read it and don’t talk about it? It won’t sell.
@LatteRose! see????? crazzzy!!! It’s their IT system or something. I think every time they do something with it, there (apparently) is huge potential for messing up your info! I’m glad you found that and “corrected” it.
I urge you to call cust service because, at the very least, they owe you a drink card or two. or email someone!!!
@Michelle: Onward is really not selling in the stores I go to, at all. IF anyone does want to read it, and doesn’t know or care about the “Onward card”, then I guess they’d be crazy to buy it at Sbux when, at my regular store, Costco is right across the street a little ways and it’s been out there, same hardcover book, for $14.99, maybe 2 days after it hit the stores.
And, I agree with you! It needs to be “SOLD”. When so many partners are not even reading their free copy….. ???? I actually talked a guy into (did not know him , just another customer and I was telling him about the book, since he was kind of looking at the book stand) buying it….
The partners mostly (that I see) seem not very interested in it.
I understand the “time” issue, and jobs and school and it is after all, ‘their JOB’, but that’s where I think there is some disconnect with what H.S. thinks is going on. (at least outside of Seattle….which is almost not even really in the same game since they MUST know, he COULD actually walk in the door there. here, not so much)
