Starbucks city and state cards are here! Customers have long been asking for more souvenir and city cards! Here are a few examples from MyStarbucksIdea.com:
Souvenir Location/ City Gift Cards
And there is a larger announcement about this on the MyStarbucksIdea.com blog – Be sure to read their blog there:
Keep your travel memories in your wallet!
It’s nice to see the fresh and interesting designs for the cards. These cards look great! This idea of city-specific cards is something that Starbucks has already launched in some of the international markets. Some of my readers might remember my previous blog post mentioning that Kyoto Japan has their own city card. I am sure that there has also long been a London card, though I don’t have one in my collection.
Thank you very much to the loyal blog reader who sent me the Chicago card. And thank you to the blog reader who sent me the image of the Vancouver card.

Love these! Are the architectural style mugs still available, do you know? Or are they phasing them out?
Ive already started collecting the card designs I like…im really loving these city and state cards 🙂 Super cute!!!
What a great idea! Can’t wait to see the various designs.
Love the simple design of the new City Cards…really nice!
Already ordered the one of my favorite city, San Francisco, on eBay…
Love the city designs I’ve seen so far.
If anyone has a spare Vancouver card they could send my way…. :o)
@Lindsey – I think the archeticturial series of mugs are phasing out. I liked all the city information (population, etc…) that was found on the side of those style mugs. I wish I had more of them. There’s always ebay. 😉
@purple1 – I’m going to upload an image of the Seattle one when I get home from work. I should have had it on here already. Looks like there are seven of them in this series (Seattle, New York, Chicago, San Fran, Florida, Vancouver, and Hawaii.) I can imagine more cities to come! I would think that Los Angeles, and Las Vegas would be good too!
I sent you the image of the Florida one on twitter. If anyone wants one, let me know. I’ll send you one if you send me a self addressed stamped envelope.
So great how you already have a Starbucks card with the new siren logo on it! Do you know if there are going to be city mugs and tumblers to match the design of the card? (Or maybe already have them?)
PS: I actually started collecting starbucks cards after seeing one of your older posts on your collection, Melody! 😀
@Amanda – I remember seeing the Florida card tweet on twitter, and when I went to go back and look for it, I couldn’t find it. Would you email me the Florida picture? I will DM you my email address – May I use it on the blog?? Thanks!
I just sent it. Of course you can use it! I can mail you one if you’d like. 🙂
Sweet! I hope Honolulu has one cuz I’m heading there soon!
I already have a SF one from a while ago. They must have been good sellers.
I’ll be San Diego for Blogher and hope to get one there too!
Thx for the reminder.
~Allie
Love the city/state specific idea from Starbucks! As someone who collects Starbucks cards I’m looking forward to another fun one to add to my collection. Thanks Melody for sharing the news & keeping us informed!
Hi Allie! The SF one you have is probably more collectible now because Starbucks is replacing it with a new one. I should have written this in the blog post but this launch includes seven card: New York City, San Francisco, Seattle, Florida, Chicago, Hawaii, and Vancouver.
Every card design is new! So now you’ve got to get the new SF card. 😉
Thanks for dropping by.
I like Starbucks cards of the Seattle. That’s simple and it expresses a characteristic of all Seattle. 😀
I’ll be doing some traveling soon and I wish the new cards were in places we are going!
I hope they do roll out other cities soon.
@Melody – all the new things are excellent fodder for new blogs! I love the conversations here!
Wow, I hope they bring these to the UK, we currently have a card for London but not for anywhere else as of yet. Naturally the London one is red/white/blue and has Big Ben on it! 🙂
I, too love these new city cards! As far as the cards, and any city cups (here in Chicago), it seems that the stores with the cups also have the Chi. cards…..but not all stores have either.
am really really glad they did this! makes so much sense! I hope they do expand to more cities….
@Coolywatyr – Have fun on your travels and stop by plenty of Starbucks! 😉
@Denise – I would love to see city cards for Boston, Las Vegas, and maybe Dallas? I think there’s room for a few more!
Although I know it might be impractical to have cards for suburbs of major cities, however, it would be nice to be able to have a card with your local SB location. Maybe be able to design your own customized card?
I had hoped they’d already have something like this when I was in Europe in the fall, but didn’t see any. They have the city mugs both large and miniature. Paris did not have any Starbucks cards period and did not accept Starbucks cards. I don’t remember Berlin accepting cards either or having any displayed at the till.
@Eva – Starbucks has been slow to roll out international versions of their card programs, and it’s interesting because the card programs or perks (or lack thereof) differ from place to place. Japan has long offered the card but I don’t think there are rewards. I’ve seen numerous cards from Korea. There is some kind of card rewards program in China now! And the UK also has long had a card program with rewards – And has a “London” card! I don’t know off the top of my head the differences in all these international programs. I can easily imagine that Berlin would be a great city for a city card! And also Madrid, Munich, Paris, and Zurich. I would love to see those as international cards!
Thanks for dropping by the blog! Hope you’ll “like” the site’s facebook page, if you haven’t already. 🙂 Thanks!

These are lovely. I adore the Florida one!
hey! I just noticed (as I was thinking how very nice the Chicago cards are)..just noticed that hockey stick and puck in Vancouver’s card. BOO!!!!!! (from the Blackhawks;)
I’d love to see some more cities on this list. Dallas, definitely. Then again, I’m a Texan, so of course I’d love a Dallas Starbucks card! 🙂
A friend of mine hooked me up with the new New York City Starbucks card. I love it! Now I have both the old and new NYC cards, and the old San Fran card. I love the Florida one, too! 😀
Oh! I hope philly gets one 🙂
Has starbucks said how many city cards they would do?
@Amanda – I’d like a Florida card (or a few) and I can send you some Hawaii cards (current and previous). Can I DM you on twitter?
@Alexa: Sure! My twitter is @amairead.
If there is another current Hawaii card available, would love to trade for one!! I have the past Hawaii card, and I’m in AZ so we don’t have a city card but I might have a different card!
looking to find a NYC starbucks card, didn’t see any while I was there…anybody have an extra and possibly San Francisco?
Thanks…Shirley Gonzales
Anyone know if these cards are limited edition? I saw a couple over the summer, but they have soon disappeared after a month…
I am in Hawaii and I’ve been collecting cards since the beginning of this year… I just came back from a vacation in Seattle and Vancouver but couldn’t find any city cards!! If anyone would like to trade with me some hawaii cards… 🙂 I’d love to get some new city cards!!
There are 2 different Hawaii cards by the way… one with a nene goose (state bird) and a second one with palm trees & diamond head.
I have the older Hawaii card with the Nene goose to trade. I am interested in any of the regional cards except:
– Florida
– Hawaii (have all three editions)
– NYC 2011 (have the one the bridge, but don’t have the 2010 card with the taxi cab).
Keep in mind there are also Arizona State and Washington State cards — definitely would love to get one of those.
Anyone have an extra Chicago, Seattle, NYC or Florida one? I would love to trade one of those for a London one!
Fsc, I have NYC 2010 (with taxi cab). Email me at ponzu@cox.net
I only have a Seattle, Hawaii, and London card. I wonder if Phoenix will get one.
@Diele – Jealous that you have London! I really liked these cards in this blog post. I use my Seattle one all the time and gets lots of comments. I’d love to have a London one! I think that one was launched at a different time than the ones featured here, but nonetheless, I’d love a London card for my collection. I am sure at some point I could break down and just use ebay. 😉
Does anyone have an extra Seattle card to trade?
@Alexei – I just double checked my collection. I do have one extra Seattle card. You can email me at Melody @ StarbucksMelody dot com.
@Melody – do you have another Seattle one? I would love to trade you for a London one!
Melody and fsc, I would rather have a Seattle card than London. Why don’t we do a 3-way swap? I send my NYC card to fsc, fsc sends London to Melody, Melody sends Seattle to me. Did I get it right? Will that work for everyone?
That’s sounds like a good idea, email me at f.s-c@hotmail.com
Okay, well then I should get an email from Alexei with a place/address/info to send a Seattle card?
Melody, I was going to send you one with a thank you package for sending me the reserve coffees.
I wish you could use them in the states. I have two that collect dust.
@Diele – Oh that would be so sweet! Thank you! I’d much rather not part with my last Seattle card, and in any case, neither fsc nor Alexei have emailed me yet. I think it would be much better if they just traded between the two of them. 🙂
Sounds great! My family is from England so I might send some other goodies. I want to send over something thoughtful to say thank you. I just wish AZ had something unique to send your way. May send some more canned refreshers.
Melody, I hope I copied your email right. I sent you and fsc a note, but looks like you have already made up your mind. Still, if you didn’t get it, please let me know.
Fsc and I will trade directly.
If you (or anyone else) want to part with your spare Seattle card, I have older issue Hawaii card with nene goose. I have many other non-city cards for trade, some going back to 2004, which now go on eBay for $3-4 and up. Here are the cards I need:
Vancouver, Dublin, Seattle, Chicago, first San Francisco.
Thanks!
And by the way, to those who wonder if AZ has anything special to offer, there is an Arizona State card (ASU), you could look it up in your local SB. I got mine from Starbucks.com. I think it came loaded with $15 or $25, and shipping was free.
Similarly, there are Washington State and Univetsity of Washington cards, which I have harder time tracking down outside of eBay. Keep your eye out for those as well.
I guess the ASU card is special, but it is so common here. I adore my hanukkah card and feliz buena noche card.
