It’s been a long while since I’ve written about Starbucks city mugs, so I thought I’d revisit them again. I recently got the “Oktoberfest” mug in the mail and I love it. I owe a big thank you to @Sbirr, who sent it to me. I have a few others that are also relatively new. The Brisbane mug came to me via @jorda_nn – and I got it about one year ago! You can see I’m really overdue to write about it, and give a bit of a shoutout to @jorda_nn. I think the Indianapolis city mug is especially nice too – the race car looks great!
Just to recap, here are the past two episodes about the Starbucks city mug series:
- Collecting Starbucks City Mugs – featuring Ohio, Houston, Dallas, Seattle, Portland, Vancouver, and Pike Place Market.
- Collecting city mugs from around the world (Episode #2) – featuring Indonesia, Edmonton, Orange County, Chicago, Kholenpott limited mug, Los Angeles, and Charlotte.
Thank you to Molly at Seattle Custom Framing for taking these photos. I definitely know that there are a lot of city mug collectors out there. I get emails now and then from people looking for mugs in the series. Which city mug is your favorite?
Here are the rest of the mugs:

I like the Oktoberfest mug. I wonder if “event” themed mugs would go over well as a concept for a new series of these mugs. For example, Chicago could have the “Taste of Chicago,” Texas could have the state fair, etc.
I think we miss out around here on alot of these great style mugs and I also agree themed style mugs would be wonderful. The mugs on display here are ok but nothing really shouts out at me to purchase it. Thanks to everyone who sent Melody a mug and to Melody for displaying her collection.
Love the Paris mug. However we tried to mail some home and learned the hard way how poor the Parisian mail system is, they never made it.
Maybe it’s just me, but the Oktoberfest mug with the pretzels just seems out of place for a Starbucks mug. No???
(agree with Chgo about the pretzels) I like that it’s “themed” but definitely agree about the pretzels.
I have several different city mugs and I’m starting to wish they were really all way different….. not the same basic look. I think I’d like that more.
also, I just took out my ‘bearista bear’ from last Christmas. While I’m glad they have ANY this yr, last yrs looks like the ones from yrs ago compared to this yrs guy in his very plain jacket and cap. (sorry off topic….but, on the good side, we never know where that may lead us)
I have never seen an event mug before!
I think its great Starbucks is always creating something to match an event. I always enjoy my visit in the cafe’, and I would always love to take home something like a memorabilia of my visit.
I recently was delivered a city mug from Edinburgh, which has a picture of the castle on it. Being a visual person, I wish the mugs had more colour variation to them. They all seem to be blue, green, red or brown.
I’d love to see more city mugs or city gift cards (or states for that matter) in general. There are many areas (even busy ones with cool local things to put on them) that don’t have any city/state mugs. I like finding them when traveling, but I wish I could find local ones too.
@Michelle – I like that Edinburgh city mug! I have the 3 ounce version of it, given to me buy @StarbucksDave! @MerrynCole – I agree with you – Though I liked the the architecture series of mugs had information about the city on the side – I’d love to see something like that incorporated into new mugs. 🙂
Oooh…I love the city themed mugs. My sister collects shot glasses from around the world. I wish I could collect these coffee mugs. Wonder if Starbucks Canada has these for Canadian cities.
Shruti – there’s a generic Canada mug, and I believe mugs for Toronto, Vancouver and maybe Niagara Falls and Montreal.
@Michelle – right you are, also Edmonton (as pictured above). None, sadly, in the nation’s capital. We have tourists aplenty asking for them, so hopefully someday…
I really like that San Diego mug since it features the Gaslamp arch. I was travelling last week to Orlando and we missed our connection in Nashville so SWA gave us $50 credits and put us on the next flight which meant an hour in the Nashville airport. While there I stopped at the Starbucks and bought the Nashville city mug which looks really cool because it simply features a microphone. Not your typical black mic with the foam ball on top but one of those, I guess, older style short silver ones. I’d share a photo if it was possible but I really like it.
“Oktoberfest” is sure a good business for Starbucks. Millions of tourist are in Munich in this time und they buy tons of gifts. The Oktoberfest is famous for lots of beer and drunken people. Very atypical for SB, but the mugs looks not bad. Never saw Brezels by SB… Next edition in Germany “Christmas-Market”????? lol
We also liked the Paris mug. Now that I see the OktoberFest – must pick up.
It is amazing how high these mugs costs on eBay.
