I was at my local Starbucks yesterday, and saw a remarkable tumbler on the shelves. It was unique enough to write about as its own blog article. This tumbler retails for $39.95. Out of the $39.95, Starbucks gives $5.00 to HandsOnNetwork. I have always thought that this is a fabulous partnership! HandsOnNetwork is a non-profit designed to facilitate community service and volunteering. If you want to follow HandsOnNetwork.org on Twitter, click here. And on a related topic, Starbucks has recently revamped their community service website. The new version has both a partner and a customer log-in, and the new page is easy to search for community service projects.
The tumbler is hand-dipped in a white gold glaze, and is a very limited edition item. The signage says ‘while supplies last‘ and from what I know, many stores received just a few of these.
So did anyone buy one? I admit, I bought one right away. Just think it is perfect to add to my collection. What do you think of this, and would you spend $39.95 on a tumbler?

@Stephanie: I’m not sure how this would work but I know there are stores around me (nw suburban Chicago) that still have these and am guessing would love to unload them…… one store is #2470, which is at :
1 W. Rand Rd
Mt Prospect,IL 60056 and there are others….Streets of Woodfiled Sbux still had them last week….you can check this site’s archives for the exact address of a couple of these area stores that Melody visited last yr.
As I said, I don’t know how you’d go about it but there’s the address of one store that had a couple of these a day ago, for sure. Good luck.
I noticed yesterday that these are now on the clearance shelves.
@CD: thanx for the headsup! So, I did get one at half price. They’ve just not sold anywhere here….even Streets. Talking with an sm today….he doesn’t even think they’ll sell at half price.
and, on another topic…they dropped my favorite ‘veggie egg and cheese ‘ sandwich from my store! not ALL stores, but ours. So, considering I always have to wear a jacket because it is frigid in there, I think I have to go to another store! I’d always rather be cold than hot but if I’m in shorts, since it’s a HOT summer, it’s just a pain to have to carry a jacket in with me and then decide do I want it over my legs or ‘wear it”. really really frigid….I can’t stay. maybe that’s the idea…….. no more ‘3rd place’. not here.
Seems like a shame that they didn’t sell too well – but they were super expensive. Great idea but I can understand how most people won’t want to pay that much for a tumbler.
I didn’t get one because they were not microwaveable. I also won’t buy anything from Starbucks that isn’t dishwasher safe.
Hopefully Starbucks will still make the $5 donation even though the product is discounted.
@CD: I doubt I will ever use this (expensive, pretty) tumbler…but I like adding it to my long time collection…..I think!
Love this tumbler! I have wanted one for awhile now but decided after spending $40.00 on the stainless steel cold cups decided against getting the gold tumblers. I was in the one starbucks in town that had two of them left and was admiring them when I noticed they were half off! I bought one and so happy I purchased them beacuse they are the most perfect mugs ever! I went back and got my boyfriend one too so we don’t have to fight over mine. They are still online for 40.00 online and if you can’t find them I think they are still worth it. Though please be very careful with the mugs because they are heavy (which I like but you need to be aware of how heavy the cups are) and would shatter instantly if dropped.
I presently in Qatar and i am collecting Starbucks Tumbler and i wish to have some of its limited editions can you help me to have them? I’ll appreciate it very much.
