I am trying to spread the word about an art contest that I am doing. There are about three weeks left to send in your entries. You do not have to be an artist to submit something. Please read this blog post here, for all the details.
In response to the call for barista-produced chalk art, a partner in Michigan sent me this fantastic chalk art that he created for Pumpkin Spice’s return. This piece of art is fantastic. For my contest, the rule is that the artwork must have been displayed inside a Starbucks within the past 90 days. This “pumpkin spice” chalkboard is outside of the 90 days. It is such an amazing piece of art that I thought I’d just show it off right now. Maybe it will inspire a few more contest entries!
This is a total experiment (and may not work!) but I thought it would be great to use Facebook to spread the word about the contest. My idea is that I am asking readers to click on the Facebook “share” button and spread the word about the art contest. This also might introduce a few new readers to this site too. If you don’t want to share the art contest blog post, another idea might be to share the article about the Starbucks Coffee Gear store. I mention that Coffee Gear store because I recently dropped by there and bought 25 little keychains that are in the shape of a cup, with the Starbucks logo on them. It’s definitely a keychain that everyone would want to have! 😉 Let me know that you’ve “shared” the Art Contest blog article or the Coffee Gear store article, and I will mail you a little keychain.
There won’t be any totally obvious way for me to see that the article was shared, so I guess I will have to trust that it was. Come back here to this blog post, and leave a comment just telling me that you shared it. If you think that I need your mailing address to mail you a keychain, please email me at Melody at StarbucksMelody dot com. First 25 people to “share” (and come back and leave a comment here) are the winners of the little keychain. I know it’s only something small, but it’s affordable for me to do this (it wasn’t expensive to buy those) and on top of it all, unless you live in Seattle, the keychains are a little tough to come by!
You must be over 18 to win a keychain. And I will mail them just about anywhere. (Contest ends at 6 p.m. PST on March 11, 2012, or when all the keychains are gone, whichever comes first.)
Enjoy!

Received my keychain Saturday. Thanks so much, Melody! I love it!!
Hi Lorna! Glad you got it!
Eeek! It was tough getting so many things out in the mail! There are still about 4 folks where I havent mailed it yet! I will definitely be throwing something extra in the package for the delay! I am working on it today. Sorry – I work full time and do this blog and sometimes I am in over my head I think! 🙂
I am sometimes in over my head. I just promoted to assistant store manager. I really want to go to leadership conference and my manager wants to fast track me to promote in August so I can. I still try to maintain being the number one partner on MSI, acrive on the customer side, and actively involved in this blog. I feel this blog and MSI(occassionally in between the repeat posts and trolls) give me a sense of community and allows me to understand what our customers want from Starbucks and partners.
Diele congrats on becoming an ASM! I bet you will be a terrific ASM. Funny you should post your promotion because just this am I said to a partner that I thought she would make a great ASM. Re your comment about this blog helps you understand the SB customer and a sense of community and I totally agree even more so than MSI. I believe reading the comments here are invaluable to a SB employee. Thanks again Melody. Also, I too want to know about the whipped cream test.
Whipped cream was not standard and had to be requested on ALL beverages regardless if the recipe called for it. It was from Jan 1, 2008-Aug. 8th 2008. It was a pain and customers still think they don’t have to say no whip, etc.
