On my way to work early one morning in October, I dropped by 1912 Pike Place. I took a couple of photos in the early morning light. I sometimes take for granted how lucky I am to live in Seattle. I dropped by the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks store to pick up some Pike Place Special Reserve coffee (a whole bean coffee sold only at two Starbucks stores) for a giveaway. This iconic Starbucks was still slow. Later on, I was glancing at the pictures I took, and felt that I’d managed to capture some of the charm of living here in Seattle.
I’ve been meaning to share these photos here, and I thought I’d put them up now. Sometimes it’s hard to figure out when to post what, but I don’t want to wait any further to post these. By the way, about one year ago, I created a similar blog post here, where I captured a nice exterior photo of 1912 Pike Place Starbucks in early morning October light.
Hope you like them too – I don’t have much to say, just hope that my readers enjoy the pictures. (As always, click on the photos to make them larger.)

Nice! I can’t -wait- to move back to Seattle, I miss living within a stone’s throw of all that.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Melody I remember that view. Thanks for sharing the pics. I really wish there more more of the unique SB stores here that you have by you. And it sure would be nice to be able to walk to a SB.
@purple1 – I often think that have a lot to walk to is a lifestyle choice that people make. People who live in urban cores like downtown Seattle, San Francisco, NYC, and the heart of big cities are often going to have a lot to walk /bus to, whether that’s coffeehouses or museums or the arts. I felt that way in law school in SF too. Giving up getting around by car can be a choice. I haven’t driven anywhere in at least 2 full months. But most Americans do not want to give up any kind of car-centric lifestyle no matter how ‘cool’ they think it would be to live within walking distance of a downtown. We’re addicted to cars as a society and that’s a big barrier to adopting a lifestyle of walking and taking the bus wherever you go. Sorry.
What a lovely picture Mel! You captured a unique moment, the timing (dawn) and bare streets with a fabulous view!!!
Thank you Leslee!
1912 Pike Place continues to be the Starbucks mecca. It is always interesting to hear Howard talk about this store. Here is a link to a site that lets you view the Pike Place store in a 360 degree interactive experience. Fun!
Rachel, great link! Thank you. I had never seen that before. Really fun to see that 360 view. The woman on the ladder in that link is the former store manager. She’s no longer there. As I recall, she stepped down into a lower store position at a store much closer to her house – she was having a baby and starting a family, and didn’t want to be a store manager anymore, and wanted to be closer to her house. I hope she is well!
I dropped by 1912 Pike Place this morning as I was out and about. I noticed something that I hadn’t noticed before (though should have!!) – 1912 Pike Place has their own one of kind “Indivisible” mugs made by the same factory Ohio that made the mugs that were the Indivisible mugs.

^ Take a look!
Its always a great atmosphere to be at a market early in the morning. BTW, is it next to sea? That sure is a very nice view! Anyway, nice looking mugs in the link too… =)
