I’m getting a kick out of my new found fun with tea. It’s loose leaf Chai tea that’s been tickling me pink. That, and my new Tazo Tea card:
The new Tazo Tea card comes in 3 colors, and purple is the one that has my name all over it. It’s definitely the prettiest of the three. By the way, if you look at eBay, it’s surprising that these cards are already starting to be sold there. Somehow collectors started snatching them up quickly.
Here’s the skinny:
- You can use your Tazo card as a form of payment in any Starbucks store, any Evolution Fresh store, and at the one Tazo store.
- You can load money onto your Tazo card at any Starbucks, Evolution Fresh store, or at the one Tazo store.
- You will earn a “star” for each swipe with this card at any Starbucks, Evolution Fresh, or Tazo.
- And you can register it at Starbucks.com/card, just like any other Starbucks card.
- It can be used exactly like any other Starbucks card.
Jumping back to tea, as I mentioned, it is loose leaf Chai that I have really been having fun with. The tea looks so pretty, and smells amazing. I always add a little milk and sugar to my tea at home. I’m sure I’m torturing my tea to something that comes as close as possible to coffee. I use way too much in my infuser. And it will never be my morning beverage! Here’s my fun with tea at home:
In case you missed, my article about the grand opening of the Tazo Tea store is here.
It’s been one month since my last giveaway!
Do you want to win one of those awesome Tazo cards? There would be a serious coolness factor to pull a Tazo card out at the register. And, this card actually says on the back that you can use it at Starbucks too!
Here is how you enter to win a $25.00 Tazo Tea card:
- 1. Leave a comment about tea. Anything you want to say about tea. Iced. Hot. Teavana. Tazo. Instant. Loose Leaf. Heavily sweetened. Herbal. However you like your tea. However, no spam comments; No posts to buy or sell items that you own or have a financial interest in. No key words as names; and no non-civil comments.
- 2. One entry per person.
- 3. You must have an address within the United States, Canada, or the U.K.
- 4. Please watch for the winners announcement within 7 – 10 days of the contest close. I’ve learned the lesson where I’ve seen people not reply to my emails telling them they’ve won, and never return to the site. If you don’t contact me within 21 days of winning, your prize is forfeited.
- 5. Leave your comment before December 06, 2012, at 6:00 p.m.
- 6. You must be over 18 years old to enter.
- 7. It’s not required, but I hope you’ll either “subscribe” or “like” this site.
- 8. I suggest you leave a comment using an email address that you really check.
- 9. As always, odds of winning depends on the number of entries. Winners will be drawn at random.
I think many of my readers probably don’t know that Tazo has a partnership with Mercy Corps to help improve the lives of people growing tea. It’s part of the mission to ethically source tea. Now that Tazo Tea has taken a bold step towards center stage in the world of Starbucks brands, I hope to see that partnership developed and strengthened further. Once upon a time, Starbucks offered a Conservation International Starbucks card. Maybe someday we’ll see a Tazo Tea Mercy Corps card? I can support that idea. What do you think?
I can’t wait to read your comments.

I love tea! hot or iced. do you remember the iced white tea Starbucks had a few years ago?? I hope they come out with a new tea beverage next summer! (I still want to try that peach infusion you wrote about!) I would love to win one of these cards. I have a small collection of starbucks cards and this would fit in nicely!
Hi Mel,
I definitely hope you select me for the Tazo card, as this is extremely unique and I’d love to show my friends the card here in Canada. I love having a nice Chai tea latte late at night, as I’ve always found tea beverages more of a comfort beverage for me; one thing I love about tea is the variety of offerings, so definitely wish we had a Tazo store here!
I like hot tea like chai or black tea as an alternative to coffee every once in a while or when I am sick. I love sweet iced tea as I am a native Texan and it is practically a rite of passage in my state. I got addicted to Starbucks black tea lemonades several summers ago and I drink them year around. Tazo tea is a great blend as I think it is stronger than other blends and I stock up on it and buy it on Amazon in bulk.
Starbucks does tea very very well. The loose teas are yummy too and I even have a tea pot that I drag out every once in a while to brew some but most days I don’t want to take the time. 😉 Thanks for yet another contest, Melody.
@SandraTrollinger – You’re welcome. Thanks for noticing. I’m doing about one giveaway a month, which so far seems to be manageable.
well, when we were in seattle earlier this month, i was waiting and hoping the tazo store would open before we left!!! sadly, we were about a week too early! instead we went to a tea bar somewhere near the market, and what an amazing time we had! i enjoyed a nice coconut red tea and purchased quite a bit to take back to my partners in california.
thank you for posting pictures of the new tazo store on your blog – i am beyond jealous that we missed it! next time 🙂
I am interested to see what Starbucks does with Teavana. I always went to the stores there in Atlanta and the tea was great. I feel as though the sales staff was commission because they were always a tad pushy but the products in store were solid. From Tazo I like the organic Chai and from Teavana, the Earl Gray.
Hi! My favorite teas are Earl Grey ( especially Tazo because of the lavender component and Chai (where I prefer Teavana because they have many blends and I like mine more spice than tea). In iced teas I’d love to see us go with a tropical black tea. Maybe a coconut mango black tea…but naturally and not syrups. Teavana has a coconut tea that has pieces of toasted coconut in it that I like.
My favourite tea is a Matcha Latte. I drink one every day! I also like the Chai tea lattes. I would love one of those cool looking Tazo cards. I bet it would really confuse them at our local Canadian Starbucks the first time I went to use it.
Agreed – the purple card is indeed the prettiest one! I love Matcha latte, or London Fogs. Theyre a great alternative if you don’t want anything heavily caffeinated!
My favorite Starbucks tea would have to be, the iced raspberry lemonade Tazo passion tea! Not sure if that counts, but when I’m in the mood for something cold but not too sweet, that’s my go-to drink. Second choice, though it’s not a Starbucks drink, would be iced peach sweet tea! I discovered it this past summer, and it’s so good, especially on a hot summer day.
As for hot teas, I enjoy a good cup of peppermint tea. I suppose I should explore other types, though.
I like sweetened teas. Fruit flavored or sugar sweetened. I prefer a tea bag to loose tea, but that may be because that’s what I grew up on. Some of my favorite childhood memories are of drinking tea with my grandma like a grown up. 🙂
Love tea, when the moment is right. Late, cold nights in front of the TV or together with some friends and lots and lots of tea. At Starbucks I always go for the coffee drinks, but maybe it’s time for me to test their tea.
I think Earl Gray and Chai are my favorites hot (especially this time of year, I always get gingerbread chai lattes at Starbucks). Of course, the passion tea lemonade is a big favorite cold. My daughter and I share that a lot! I really want to go to the new tazo store; it looks amazing. Sometimes up in AK we feel so far away from everything. I love your blog posts because it makes the distance seen smaller. However, we actually do have a Teavana store here and I love their pineapple kona pop over ice. Yum!
I never used to like tea, but once I discovered that tea comes in more styles than Lipton Black Tea, I’ve really grown to love it. I like green tea with local honey. Sometimes I use agave nectar instead for a subtle change. I like herbal teas in the evening, especially on cold winter days. I like iced chai lattes in the summer. It’s amazing how many varieties of tea are available now. Since I’ve stopped consuming caffeine, I probably drink tea more often than coffee.
I so enjoy the fragrance and beauty of loose tea! And really enjoy Starbucks’s green tea iced straight with very little ice. There is something about the joy of drinking tea that makes me feel calm. Also, enjoy all the beautiful teaware that you can brew tea in. And of course my favorite color is purple so a Tazo rewards card in purple would be terrific. Thanks Melody for this contest and for sharing the world of tea to us all.
I love Teavana and Starbucks, but my husband was the one who told me the latter was buying the former. My favorite tea used to be anything mint-based, and I do love a good Tazo Tea (esp. Tazo Passion Tea) at Starbucks, but my current favorite is Chai tea w/milk.
I never thought I would be a tea drinker. Even with plenty of evidence to the contrary when I was a teenager (demolishing our family’s stock of Lipton Yellow Label, drinking 80% or more of all the tea we bought), when I went to college, coffee was all I drank.
Then I moved to Japan to teach English, and suddenly I drank tea again. Green tea. Genmai cha. Mugi cha. (I didn’t like matcha.) Royal milk tea (oh, what a lovely name for a lovely beverage.)
Now we have two entire shelves in the kitchen devoted entirely to tea, tea, and more tea. It’s too expensive for me to buy specialty teas, but thankfully, Asians like to give tea as gifts. My mother (an older Asian woman) gets gifts of tea all the time, but she doesn’t drink tea (I can’t imagine why), so she sends them to me. I have a lot of supermarket tea too (Tazo, and the Kroger brand called Private Selection.) Sure, they’re tea bags, but when you drink so much tea, that’s the most economical way to go.
Tea is a part of my daily ritual just as much as coffee is. I start my day with coffee but I end it with tea. Tazo Awake with a touch of cream and splenda is one regular, but I have been a fan of Teavana for quite some time, and their Early Grey Creme is to die for, so I was overjoyed when Starbucks acquired them! I saw pictures of the new Tazo store and it looks amazing! I wish I could see it in person!
Those cards ARE cool! I’ve only ordered tea once or twice at Starbucks but $25 would definitely be incentive enough to try it more! Tazo Passion tea (I call it red tea) is actually my all time favorite tea. It’s the only tea I drink at home and always have a couple boxes on hand so I never run out. Time to try new things though! It’s pretty exciting that Starbucks is getting more into tea!
I love Tazo, the drink I get at Starbucks is always a Passion Tea Lemomade with no classic and 3pumps Raspberry.
I just love tazo tea ESP earl grey . I have it every day with crea
And sugar. It’s the best!!
Also I like the taste of tea, I will 3 times out of 4 choose coffee but when I do enjoy a cup of tea, I love peppermint, earl grey and the Joy Tea. I am very curious to see what Starbucks does to expand their tea selection.
Hi Mike! On my phone so this will be short. Since this giveaway IS for a Starbucks card, you can order whatever you normally do. That is indeed a Starbucks card shown above. Thanks!
Oddly enough basic tea has not caught on with me yet. I prefer chai combinations, a tea base and some extras. My favorite is a local three tea blend with spices and a pinch of cayenne. I prefer it with soy milk, despite the recent trend towards almost milk, which is a typo which came out when I tried to type almond milk, but I like the way it came out. Hot is better than cold to me, but a Starbucks Iced Soy Chai did sneak in one hot summer day and I really did enjoy that. Rumor has it there is a Teavana in the state. I may have to pay it a visit. And purple and orange are my favorite colors.
I love tea! I have actually shopped at Teavana before, I bought my wife a iron tea pot and a pound of earl grey mixed with something. That’s when I learned how much a pound of tea costs! This was actually last Christmas, before I was a Store Manager, and I remember thinking “I wish I had a store because the girl working was really good at her job.”
Once upon a time there was rumors of a Tea Shaman program and I had always wished that it had come true. I would have loved being a Tea Shaman!
My wife always has tea, so this would be a great gift for her!
Hi Jon Ruth! So what kind of tea is in your kitchen? Loose leaf? Herbal? Is it Tazo?
I’ve had the passionfruit tea, primarily when I’m not in a coffee mood but want to use a Starbucks as a place to do work or take a break from the heat without feeling too guilty. There needs to be more variations of iced tea, though.
I loooove tea! Starbucks chai lattes are my favorite but vanilla rooibus and refresh too! I live near the Celestial Seasonings plant and have been there many times 🙂 There’s a local tea shop near me that has gummy bear tea. Sounds strange, but it’s delicious! It’s an herbal tea that is very fruity and citrusy. Delicious! I have to say, I’m extremely excited that Starbucks bought TeaVana. I really hope it’ll bring a whole new tea experience to Starbucks stores. I also hope Tazo stores start popping up in other places!
Love the new Tazo store. I’m glad to see the company exploring this direction. Can’t wait to try a sparkling tea.
I’m a huge iced tea drinker, but cold or hot, I don’t like sweetener. I actually really enjoy the bitter taste of tea.
First, I love the fact that Tazo made it’s way into U-ville, where many of my college days were spent. And now, there is another reason to continue visiting U-ville, when I’m intown. Second, I love the fact that I read about this store from Melody’s blog and then was able to experience what she experienced first hand! And it was great. One of the employees helped me with my tea choices and was VERY helpful. He asked how I found this place and I said I was following a blog and he blurted STARBUCKS MELODY! He also claimed that it was his hands in the pics (as he was showing me his pose). The real reason I came to Tazo, besides to experience what Melody blogged about, was to find something nice for my bf’s mother, who recently found out she may have some liver problems. I asked “C” for some suggestions and he suggested the Wellness line and suggested the Relief Tea. BTW, the clear tea kettles are SUPER cute! “C” gave me 10% off as they are doing a promotion with sets. So I picked the combo of a medium sized tea kettle and the tea and they packaged it very nicely, as I told them it was a gift. This was a great experience and if you’re in Seattle, U-Ville and Tazo is a must see!!!!
Hmmm i have to be honest I was tea drinker waaay before I was a coffee drinker 🙂 I love green tea, hot with milk and honey. That’s the best way to have it haha. I also love the passion iced tea with apple juice and berry hibiscus juice!!! Oh and my favorite, green iced tea with cool lime juice, orange mango juice, and a pump of raspberry syrup!! Always half the sugar though. The vanilla rooibos is really good with some milk as well. I just love tea!! ^__^ I like black tea as well sweetned and with no water!! 😀
Thanks for having another contest / give away! My summer drink of choice is an iced chai tea latte. I also love raspberry iced tea. I’ve dabbled off and on with tea over the years, but I have to muck it up to make it sweet enough for my taste. I’m a sweet beverage kind of girl. 🙂
@Kiara You totally just made my heart sing and smile. I’ll just leave it at that, but I wanted you to know how ticked pink your comment made me!
For me it has to be an iced green tea with some lemonade and a bit of ginger and a quick squirt of Agave. Every time I go back home to America I LIVE on trenta green tea lemonade but here in the UK it’s not on the menu. When I’m at work I’ll ask to have Zen tea as my partner beverage but everyone’s like “there’s only so much” so I always feel bad for loving the refreshing nature of a good iced tea. Hopefully this summer will rescue us in England with some iced tea drinks because there’s only so much iced coffee you can take!
I love tea. I didn’t really like tea until a few years ago, but now I love it! Especially at Starbucks, I like the iced green tea with a pump of raspberry. I would definitely support a Tazo Mercy Corps card.
Hi Melody! What a great opportunity for people to share their love [and recommendations] for tea! I personally wasn’t much of a tea drinker until recently, and I absolutely love it now. I’ve been drinking the usual green tea, black tea but started to experiment with fusion teas.. and honestly.. I’m hooked. I’m loving the blend from different tea leaves and experiencing the different aromas that arises from it! Really looking forward to drinking more tea from Tazo, Teavana, etc, and reading more updates from your Twitter/website!
Melody! Simple, Venti Soy Chai ~ No Water-No Foam Please! ❤
Tea is hit or miss for me a lot of the time. I generally like chai & peppermint, but I’ve started to really like oolong as well 🙂 thanks for the chance!
I drink tea occasionally at home–usually herbal. Every now and then I order a hot chai at Starbuck’s or elsewhere. In fact, just today I purchased my first ever personal box of chai mix so I can make it at home. Mostly, though, what I wanted to say about tea is that it always reminds me of my aunt and my grandma, both of whom always served a pot of tea made with loose tea. I fondly recall drinking tea that was mostly milk and feeling oh so grown up. Five decades later, drinking hot, black tea always bring them to mind. Thanks for your blog and giveaways, Melody!
My favorite tea is Tazo Passion Tea, iced. The Passion lemonade is really good too.
I always said “There’s no problem in the world that sitting down and having a good cup of tea wouldn’t solve” Must be the little tiny bit of English in me. Tea to me is soothing and calming.
For me, a moment with a cup of coffee is about the people you share it with, while a cup of tea is much more about the history of the tea. I love picking out my loose teas one by one — they keep stories and remind me of moments in time. Looking forward to see where Starbucks takes this whole thing.
Very cool giveaway! I love tea and the culture that comes with it. Recently I have been enjoying the new vanilla rubinos (sp?) tea from Starbucks!!
Great article! I love Tazo Vanilla Rooibos tea! When I don’t feel great in Winter I like to warm up with a Refresh tea sweetened with some honey.
Nothing compares to the mindset brought on by sipping the citrus /mint juxtaposition that is Tazo Zen. Whether a hot cup late at night while sitting in my local Starbucks, pondering the many mysteries of the world around me or Iced and lightly sweetened, it never fails to simultanouesly sharpen me up with the pan-fired green tea leaves and lemon verbena and cool me down with the spearmint. If ever there was a tea that entirely lived up to its name, Tazo Zen is it. Please excuse me, I think it’s high time I had another cup…
The only kind of tea I like is chai. Mmmmmm….chai…
Tazo is one of my favorite brands of tea. I really like the Chai – but prefer the brewed over the concentrate-based lattes due to the high sugar content in the concentrate. I wish they still offered the decaf brewed chai in the stores (and I also miss the old African Red Bush)
Of course, it is the season of Joy too so I can’t forget that – it is a great blend of three kinds of teas.
My favorite tea is African Red Bush- Starbucks used to sell it but it went away when they converted to full leaf teas in store. Now I buy it at Whole Foods. I used to work at a Starbucks inside a hospital and while I was there I found that this tea is great for upper respiratory health. In fact, I’ve used it as part of my daily regimen for cold season. It tastes delicious too. I think it may be discontinued though, as I didn’t see it on the new Tazo website. Anyone have recommendations?
