At the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks, almost all of the merchandise is exclusive to that store. You have to come visit Seattle to get it! There are special mugs and tumblers, and an exclusive coffee too, which is called Pike Place Special Reserve.
During my last trip into this store, I bought a 16-ounce tumbler exclusive to the store. And it is made in the USA too! You can win this tumbler! Just leave me a blog comment below. Talk about whether you’ve ever been to this Starbucks, or whether you would like to visit 1912 Pike Place. Or tell me what Starbucks destination would you like to visit? Who knows. Maybe you would love to visit Starbucks in India? There is now a Starbucks in Ho Chi Minh City too! I would enjoy hearing about your visit to 1912 Pike Place, or favorite dream Starbucks travel destination idea.
Your odds of winning depends on the number of entries. No key words in your user name. One valid entry per person. Void where prohibited by law. You must be over age 18 to participate. I will ship this tumbler anywhere. If you’re in Istanbul, and you have never commented on this site, this is your perfect opportunity to say “Hi”! No spam comments. You do really have to answer the Starbucks destination questions. “I like coffee” is not a valid entry. Because it can be a little overwhelming doing these giveaways, I will cap the number of entries at 125. That means that there could be many more comments than that because some people will naturally comment about others’ comments without entering in. You must post your comment before 9:00 p.m. (PST) February 14, 2013.
Please do not send me an email as your entry – that won’t count. By the way, I apologize for this glitch, but if you are viewing this blog on a mobile device in mobile view, you may have to switch to desktop view to comment. I installed “WP Touch” to make the blog more mobile device friendly, but it seems to have a glitch where you cannot comment in the mobile view. I have no idea how to fix it. This poor little blog needs help! LOL
Good luck winning your exclusive 1912 Pike Place tumbler!
I can’t wait to read your comments about your dream Starbucks destination. As for myself, I would love to go see some of the international Starbucks stores, especially the famous “Bank” Starbucks in Amsterdam. (Dear Starbucks, you can fly me there any time you like!)

I’ve never been to the 1912 Pike Place store but I would love to visit it. But even more than that I would like to visit any of the stores in Portland, Oregon because I have friends there.
~Alan
Oh Mel, I’ll be in Amsterdam visiting The Bank again next Monday. Too bad that you don’t have the chance so easily. But we can change out locations…one day in Seattle for me, one day in Amsterdam for you. How about that? 🙂
Until I read your blog, I didn’t know how unique the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks is. As an east coaster who has never been to Seattle, well, I’d like to visit that city and that Starbucks!
I would love to visit the 1912 Pike Place store. It seems like a special place, plus I’ve never been to Seattle before! 🙂
@Sebastian – I love your idea! I have heard that the “Bank” Starbucks has a manual espresso machine since it is a concept store. Please let me know if it does. Would LOVE it if we could swap places.
As a Starbucks partner I would have to say that the store I would most like to visit would be 1912 Pike Place, the birth place of it all! Not only to see, smell, touch, smell where my job started but to get a feel for the people that made Starbucks what it is today 🙂
I “worshipped” at the 1912 Starbucks back in 1996. I was surprised that it was so tiny, but what a neat store! I’d love to go back to it.
My friend just moved to Ho Chi Minh City last year. He posted about the Starbucks opening there! He said it was a ‘big deal’ there!
I visited the Times Square Starbucks over Thanksgiving. What a HUGE store!! Very nice!
I actually visited Starbucks in California and Japan before I really knew what Starbucks was. Kyoto and Akihabara were very cool, but I really would like to Pike Place in Seattle, the store where it all began, until then winning this tumbler would be particularly awesome, especially as grande is my size of choice!
I heard there was a ski-in and ski-out type of starbucks in California and even though I don’t ski ( JUST BOARD!) I would think it would be pretty cool to check that place out!
I would love to visit the 1912 Pike Place store store as well. Perhaps for my 40th birthday I’ll fly to the California and drive from there to Oregon & Washington visiting multiple Starbucks
I visited Seattle last summer, and on top of my list was 1912 pike place. There wasn’t much of a line, you need to arrive early. It was my favorite part of my trip.
Never been to 1912 Pike Place, but if i had the funds, that would be a perfect place to start a west coast Starbucks tour.
Hey Melody – Love your blog! I’m a longtime reader, first time commenter. I visited 1912 Pike Place for the first time on a weekend trip to Seattle in January. We stopped by around 4pm on a Saturday after visiting Beecher’s and the market. The line wasn’t that bad and we got to the counter pretty quickly. I was surprised with the vintage feeling of the store once inside. It’s really kinda a time capsule and tourist attraction. Everyone was incredibly friendly and it made me wonder how all of the partners got their positions at this store. Are they elite and seasoned partners transferred from elsewhere? While it was busy, we never got the feeling of being rushed and everyone from the line partner, the cashier to the barista made small talk.
While there, we purchased a couple of the new brown stacking mugs and a grande Pike Place cold cup. I’d also recently purchased the Rodarte traveler after Christmas. I’ve actually never used any reusable cups at Starbucks until I got back from this trip. Now, it’s a habit to take one of those with me each morning I stop by.
While in Seattle we also visited the Evolution Fresh store on Pine Street since I’d read about it on your blog. It was a cold day, but we still tried out some smoothies and got a gift card to keep as a souvenir. If I hadn’t followed this blog, I probably would have never known about Evolution Fresh. Thanks for keeping us all up to date!
I am having fun already reading about everyone’s Starbucks destination experiences and ideas!
@Jeff – Thank you for the kind words and I am glad you got to check out Evolution Fresh on Pine Street!
Melody was at this store and loved it charm. Where would I go? Wow there are just so many choices. I have been to SB stores in CA both LA area and SF area, and of course the Boston area. I would go back to the Harvard Square store but for a new location I would choose London, Tucson, or Toronto.
Honestly, with all the awesome stuff you post about the Seattle Starbucks stores, all I want to do is go to the city where it all started. Also those concept stores in Seattle seem pretty darn cool!
I have visited it! I haven’t bought any beverages – the line is always so long! I love the “rustic” feel, though.
I am planning on going to the Starbucks bank store when I go to Amsterdam this summer. I am super excited to see it! (It’s the only thing I know I am doing so far. :-P)
I have visited 1912 Pike Place store, and I loved going there to look at exclusive merchandise. If I were to have an opportunity to visit any other Starbucks, I would like to visit the ones in Japan, as I have heard that they have a lot of variety in pastries and their Starbucks cards are very different than the ones in North America.
Thanks for the giveaway.
This store one of the two main reasons I’d love to make it to Seattle some day. The other is to see the Microsoft campus (I work IT). One other personal “quirk” around this store is that I’ve never had Pike — started because I don’t care for lighter-roast coffee’s as a rule so I’d always order a Morning Pick/Bold/Dark/Whatever-it’s-called-today — now I plan to try it whenever I make it to this store.
Mel, as a partner of 7+ years, Ive been to Pike Place, and its one of those places you dream of visiting not only as a partner but as a coffee fanatic, and lover of all things Americana. The size of the store is a short, but the passion is of a trenta. Ive been to plenty of stores around the USA, but the one I would love to visit is the one located in the most remote location in the states, I have no idea where that store is, but I can only hope with it being “out there” it still strives on bringing that “third place” and the “seattle love” to those who it serves. I myself have visited a store that is 2 hours in either direction from the next store, but Im sure there is a quieter one out there. 🙂
Hi SbuxMelody! I’m a newer visitor to your blog & am loving it!
If I could visit any Starbucks, I would like to visit a Starbucks in Spain. I think Madrid is a cool city 🙂
I also think the one in Times Square sounds like fun!
I was visiting my sister in Seattle about 8 years ago and she made it a point that I had to go to the 1912 Pike Place store 🙂 I didn’t drink coffee back then (I know, what was wrong with me?) so I got a chai. One day I’ll visit Seattle again and I’ll be sure to get a coffee lol.
I’ve only flown through Seattle, but hope to one day have it be my destination city, and of course I would have to stop by the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks. I dream of visiting the Rembrandt Square Starbucks in Amsterdam simply for its architectural design (and to take a boat ride on city’s historic canals). And of course the Starbucks in Tokyo would be a fascinating visit to sample all the hand-crafted beverages and foods that are signature to the Japan locations. So far I’ve been to Starbucks in the following states: CA, GA, AL, FL, NC, SC, CT, TN, MO, IL, MN, & RI. So many more states to go!
I visited the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks twice when I lived in Seattle this past summer. It was a thrill to visit it and see where it all began, certainly! Though I have to say my favorite Starbucks that I’ve ever been to has to be the Starbucks at University Village. It’s big and gorgeous with glass all around, lots of seating and outlets, and they open the windows on those nice Seattle summer days in July and August. Seattle’s a really lucky place to have so many cool and different Starbucks locations (and especially lucky for how all of them have Clovers! Still waiting for North Carolina to get its first Clover Starbucks…)
What a great BLOG this is. I love it because my son works at Starbucks and I find the newest and latest news before he does! While I have not been to the 1912 Pike location, I would love to see it and experience it. I really like to see a corporation remain constant…meaning I know I am going to get the same quality products from location to location. However, I also like when a company can “tweak” tweak things to make a slightly unique experience. For instance, my daughter traveled to Europe last semester. She talked about the differences from store to store. Oslo Norway still uses paper “gift certificates.” The addition of the “city cards” around the world has been fun to collect. I look forward to visiting 1912 Pike Place in the future to experience the uniqueness! Thanks Melody for a great BLOG.
I have never been to 1912 Pike Place or Seattle, for that matter. I really enjoy seeing how each Starbucks uses the same elements, but each store is totally unique in soul and character. I live in a not-so-snowy Maryland and really would to travel to a Starbucks location with an awesome view (Mountains?) and some snow. I’d grab a Blonde Roast with some vanilla syrup.* I’d love to sip my coffee and settle into a good book.
*I usually have black coffee, but was urged to try this combo for the first time yesterday and it was awesome. I loved the caramel notes!
Hi Melody,
Stopping for my favorite latte at 1912 Pike Place has brought me the special pleasure of savoring my coffee while listening to the music right outside and talking with tourists who have come to this historic location, often from all around the world.
Thanks for your blog and for this contest, Melody!
oops forgot to add my favorite destination is Orange County, California where I had lived for many years. There are several Starbucks but I enjoy the South Coast Plaza especially for the mis of coffee while shopping and getting together with friends.
What a wonderful once and a life time dream come true. I would love to travel to Singapore and enjoy food and great coffee products in the historic mug. I especially loved when you stated to Starbucks, ” I would love to go see some of the international Starbucks stores, especially the famous “Bank” Starbucks in Amsterdam. (Dear Starbucks, you can fly me there any time you like!)”. I am a senior of age and would just merely love to make it to Hollywood and drink my Starbuck with the Stars or in Paris France, Germany.
Hi melody
I’ve never been to starbucks very first store in pike place market.
For me my dream starbucks destination would be about the history of coffee.
First stop would be ethopia in africa where it was first believed that this is where the magic of coffee was discovered.
Then for stopovers i’d like to see kenya.
Second would be my Arabia trip where in coffee was a holy drink. For stopovers turkey is a good place .. did u know that wayback in turkey if husbands cnt provide enough coffee for their wives they can sue them for divorce.
Third is my Europe trip where coffee was exclusive for royalties . Stopovers to italy and amsterdam of course.
Then to brazil where coffee became a bevarage for all.
Then to the valley of guatimala where my favorite coffee was grown and cultivated.the guatemala casi cielo.. hmmmm deliciouso
Next is my asia trip to indonesia to try the most expensive coffee in the world.
Stopovers to the philippines coz its more fun in the philippines they say♥♡
Then last would be the very first store of starbucks. Save the best for last. Why? Because for me to rekindle the past is the perfect way to appreciate the present and the future.
I’ve lived in Seattle all my life and have only once visited the 1912 Pike Place location. It was fun but really crowded when we went!
I would love to visit the original Pike Place store. It is actually on my list of destinations.
I can’t wait to visit a Starbuck’s store in San Fran, CA since I’m planning to travel to that area soon.
I would have a blast visiting a Starbuck’s store in Portland, Oregon.
Hi Melody, I very much enjoy reading your blog. I have wanted to visit Seattle for some time now, and of course Pike Place is at the top of my list of places to visit.
Having been to a lot of stores internationally (my family collects Starbucks mugs), I think I’d really like to visit the new India stores – just because I’m assuming it’ll be a completely different atmosphere since the stores are relatively new. That, or the Japanese stores because they just have such interesting and different merchandise (from what I’ve read/seen online) in their stores.
I shamefully admit that I actually have never been inside the Pike Place store, even though I’ve walked past it a couple of times already – I never had the patience to line up with a sea of people so I keep putting it off.
Top three destinations on the board: Pike would be fun, but only on a slow day (hah!) when it could be truly savored. I was going to type Amsterdam concept store, but I see it has a name, The Bank Store. Any of their roasting plants. The Kent roasting plant would be fine. Carson City (Minden) is probably less crowded. However a google search to find out where the one in Europe reveals they have recently opened a roasting plant in … Amsterdam! Survey says …Amsterdam!
My most exotic Starbucks visit was to the Starbucks in the Forbidden City in Beijing before they closed this store. I still have a t-shirt from here.
Would love to visit the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks, it is on my backlist. I am going to Europe in May Italy, Greece and Turkey and I hope to hit a few Starbucks.
Thanks Melody for a great blog.
I have been to Starbucks in quite a few countries! The USA, of course, but also Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, Canada. Everywhere I go, it’s the same atmosphere. Except for having to switch language gears, you could be forgiven if you thought a certain Starbucks was in a different country!
It has been a couple of years since I have been to Seattle, used to get there a couple of times a year and would visit the 1912 Pike Street Store to stock up on Pike Place Reserve Coffee.
My Son and Daughter get over there regularly so they make the Reserve run for me.
Even though this store is full of tourists, I would consider it a must visit on any trip to Seattle. And don’t miss Pike Place Market.
I have been to the 1912 store numerous times. It is always so lively with the busking out front, all the people taking pictures, and the excitement! I’m fortunate to live in this area, so its been great to visit these great stores like 1912, Westlake (with walk-up window), a cargo container store, Starbucks HQ, Evolution Fresh, Tazo Tea, Teavana…
In the near future, looking forward to visiting the Starbucks inside Disney’s California Adventure Park this summer.
I would LOVE to go to Starbucks in Japan and really all other countries. I collect Starbucks gift cards and see they have different ones outside the US.
I am headed to San Fran, CA this summer. Can’t wait to visit the Starbuck’s stores in that city.
Of course Pike Place Market would be my first choice. However, I would love to visit The Bank flagship store in Amsterdam and I will probably do it soon. I heard it’s amazing there.
I definetly will go to Exchange Street store in Portland, Maine. I saw it on Starbucks Everywhere. Across the globe there are several beautiful stores I really hope to visit someday.
Hello, Melody. Really cool tumbler. I’ve never been to the 1912 Pike Place SBUX location…actually, have never been to Seattle. I do hope to visit soon. Visiting this SBUX would be really cool. Since it’s so cold in the midwest currently, I think I’d opt for a nice vacation visit to the SBUX in Cozumel. 😀
I’ve never been to Pike Place, but I’d love to. And now it seems that I have the opportunity to do it, since my friend recently moved to Seattle, and I’m of course planning to visit. A visit to Pike Place is definitely on the to-do-list!
My dream Starbucks destination would be the guest chair in Howard Schultz’ office.
I would LOVE to sit and chat with him regarding Starbucks collecting.
Oh, yes. . .I’ve been to just about 1/2 of the Starbuck’s in Seattle. While visiting my family there, my daughter had only one request. . .that we go to the original Starbuck’s. . then to everyother one we passed. Loved the Duck Ride tour that “wahoo’s” at every store they pass. It was a kick, so to win this would be another “wahoo” that would make me a cool 66 year old grandma!
Oooohhh…. I love this idea! It is extremely hard for me to pick a single dream location, so I’ll probably stick with the Seattle area. And even from there it is kind of a toss up. As a partner, I would love to visit the original Pike Place store for the historical aspect, or the SSC to soak up the Starbucks culture. I have to admit, I’d probably be like a kid in a candy shop over there.
As a consumer, I would love to have a chance to visit the Olive way location! Its set up is absolutely fantastic, they have an evening menu, hold regular coffee seminars, and they have 2 clovers!
When I was growing up, my parents bought coffee in cans from the local grocery market. This was my initiation to coffee and after trying a couple of the brands, I decided that I hated coffee and would never drink it again. In the late 1980’s I had the opportunity to travel to Seattle on business meeting and had some free time. The concierge at the hotel made some suggestions and convinced me to try some “real coffee” at Starbucks. Needless to say I became a fan. The only problem was I had to wait so long before Starbucks came to the East Coast!
I’ve been back to Seattle and that Starbucks location only once since then and I’d love to go back again to the place where I experience my coffee “awakening”.
My boyfriend surprised me with a trip to Seattle for my 21st birthday last year. It was one of the best vacations I had ever been on. The hotel we stayed at had a nice selection of ready to brew Starbucks coffee already in our room. That was a clear sign that it was going to be an amazing trip. We were walking distance from Pike Place so we went to that Starbucks a couple of times. The first time we had to wait in line but it wasn’t too bad of a wait. The second time was right before they closed so there was no line at all. On our second day in Seattle, we took the train to the Starbucks headquarters. I was in heaven! I stocked up on some goodies from the gift shop. I definitely hope to travel back to Seattle some time in the near future.
