At the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks, almost all of the merchandise is exclusive to that store. You have to come visit Seattle to get it! There are special mugs and tumblers, and an exclusive coffee too, which is called Pike Place Special Reserve.
During my last trip into this store, I bought a 16-ounce tumbler exclusive to the store. And it is made in the USA too! You can win this tumbler! Just leave me a blog comment below. Talk about whether you’ve ever been to this Starbucks, or whether you would like to visit 1912 Pike Place. Or tell me what Starbucks destination would you like to visit? Who knows. Maybe you would love to visit Starbucks in India? There is now a Starbucks in Ho Chi Minh City too! I would enjoy hearing about your visit to 1912 Pike Place, or favorite dream Starbucks travel destination idea.
Your odds of winning depends on the number of entries. No key words in your user name. One valid entry per person. Void where prohibited by law. You must be over age 18 to participate. I will ship this tumbler anywhere. If you’re in Istanbul, and you have never commented on this site, this is your perfect opportunity to say “Hi”! No spam comments. You do really have to answer the Starbucks destination questions. “I like coffee” is not a valid entry. Because it can be a little overwhelming doing these giveaways, I will cap the number of entries at 125. That means that there could be many more comments than that because some people will naturally comment about others’ comments without entering in. You must post your comment before 9:00 p.m. (PST) February 14, 2013.
Please do not send me an email as your entry – that won’t count. By the way, I apologize for this glitch, but if you are viewing this blog on a mobile device in mobile view, you may have to switch to desktop view to comment. I installed “WP Touch” to make the blog more mobile device friendly, but it seems to have a glitch where you cannot comment in the mobile view. I have no idea how to fix it. This poor little blog needs help! LOL
Good luck winning your exclusive 1912 Pike Place tumbler!
I can’t wait to read your comments about your dream Starbucks destination. As for myself, I would love to go see some of the international Starbucks stores, especially the famous “Bank” Starbucks in Amsterdam. (Dear Starbucks, you can fly me there any time you like!)

Melody besides this being a blog post with a contest attached I find it so interesting to read where people would go. I actually need to add some more locations in Seattle – the Tazo store of course, Evolution Fresh and in Chicago the wood field store that Denise has mentioned. Also, am curious I wonder if anyone has developed a tour of SB stores! Can you imagine how neat that would be.
I would like to go to the first Starbucks in Munich, Germany, and I’d like to do so in November of next year, because that would be 10 years exactly! When I was there, I only had the pleasure of going to the airport location, where the service was great, but there wasn’t much in the way of seating.
I have never been to the Pike Street Starbucks, but I would love to visit this Starbucks. It would be interesting visiting the birthplace of Starbucks because it a piece of history. Who would have thought this first location would birth thousands of locations and Starbucks coffee beans in almost every grocery store? It is truly amazing!
Starbucks is apart of me. I love visiting Pike Place Market with the fresh ocean air and the feel of old world beneath my feet. I would love to visit some of the farms where Starbucks works with to gather their beans. My husband is from Mexico City and I would really like to go and visit where he grew up and visit the Starbucks there!!!! I would love the Pike Place tumbler… Thank you Melody for this opportunity!!!!!
I would love to visit a Starbucks with a Clover! Somewhere in Seattle would be very cool, it would be the major opposite of my little Starbuckses here in New Zealand!
I visited this store in April 2011! I remember how delicious my latte was. Normally I don’t drink lattes, but I ordered a doppio espresso and a latte because they have a La Marzocco. It was so surreal! I mean, as a partner we say the words “Pike Place Roast” several times a day, so it was neat to actually be there!! I have some fun pictures of me and my friends jumping mid way in the air in front of the building. The market was a unique experience itself. I remember sipping my latte, looking at all the spices, flowers, veggies, and jewelry booths and just LOVING my life. I really really really loved Beechers Mac ‘n cheese just a couple shops over, and bought a neat artisan messenger bag nearby at a booth.
Sorry I haven’t commented in forever! Doesn’t mean I don’t read your articles still. 🙂
P.S. In the off chance that I do win… my address has changed, so please email me so I can give you my new address. Thanks, Melody! Hope everything is going well for you!
I am a Starbucks partner in a cafe store in Midtown Atlanta. I love visiting different Starbucks and really enjoy looking for ways to make my store better. I have visited stores in Budapest, Paris, Germany, Portland Oregon, Texas, Florida, Georgia, Washington D.C. I have always wanted to visit Seattle and any and every Starbucks there.
Since I started reading your blog I am obsessed with visiting the East Olive Way Starbucks now. You write about it like it truly is the “Third Place” for you, it touches my heart. I enjoy the blog so much I started sharing entries with my partners. I recently printed the “Just say I Don’t Know” post with my partners and I searched your blog for new tasting ideas when I was interviewing for a promotion two weeks ago. (I got the promotion.)
Whether I win the tumbler or not I really enjoy your blog and if you’re ever in Atlanta your beverage is on me.
I went to Seattle in 2008- but wasn’t really into coffee back then. What a shame!!!! But I was fascinated by all the coffee shops! I’d have to go back and really experience the Sbux in Seattle. But Times Square is a close second.
I loooove your blog. You’ve answered questions I didn’t know I had.
I went to the Pike Place Starbucks back in 2008 & while I was very excited to go, I was kind of dissapointed I guess in my mind It should have been different. Seemed too touristy with rows & rows of the same cups & mugs & merchandise all lined up one after the other like a grocery store. I did like the floors the wood was cool. The Partners working that day were nice but with all the history I thought this would be a Flagship store with a lot of people willing to chat about it but they just sort of moved you along like in a bakery waiting for your number to be called. I would go back again anyway to see if I had an experience that was more of what I had expected. Heck maybe it was just that I hadn’t had any coffee first thing in the A.M. so willing to give it another shot.
Melody I did go to a small Starbucks at Northern Michigan Univ.- in Marquette, MI where I went to college & also where Howard Schultz played football. It was nothing special but when I read his book I was fascinated to know he went to this small school in the middle of the Upper Penninsula of Michigan where I had gone. So now when ever I get back to NMU I always stop in & get a coffee and think to myself I wonder if he had dreams of beans back then. It just goes to show even small university’s cultivate Big dreams.
Hi Mel! This is SO fun… I love ready about everyone elses dream visits ♥…
I have only driven by the Pike Street store but want to visit as well as the Starbucks store in Seattle. We have no clover stores nearby so that would be on my list!
Although nothing too exciting, I LOVE visiting Stabrbucks locations on any of the Hawaiian islands…
Hooray! Another contest! (thank you!)
Let’s see, I’ve never been to the Pike Place store, but I do cherish my Pike Place exclusive card. I’ve gotten a few local barista comments on it that makes it fun to have.
I recently went to Vegas, and there was a Starbucks in the hotel AND in front of the hotel. It was awesome! I don’t think I have a “dream destination” Starbucks, though. I like every one that I visit! 🙂
I visited the Pike Place Starbucks in September 2010 on my Seattle trip and got one of the non-normal coffees (I don’t think they had Pike Place at the time). I had a great experience and it wasn’t too busy because it was after the tourist season. My friends were not that impressed, and I wasn’t super excited about it either until you did the profile today. It was just kind of a random tourist thing to do, like ride the ferry, visit the Space Needle and the Underground.
Now the random Starbucks that I enjoyed on that trip was the one in Aberdeen, WA. It is a small town basically in the middle of the forest but it was so busy with people. I only stayed for about 40 minutes but the conversations were lively and the coffee was flowing.
Visiting the Pike Place store is certainly the very top of my list! My husband is heading to Doha soon and I’m hoping he will bring back some merch from the Starbucks there.
I never visited the 1912 Pike Place store. It seems like a pretty cool place to visit, thanks for sharing this information I’d have to visit when I’m in Seattle again.
I would love to visit the Pike Place store one day as well as the merchandise store! One of these days I would love to also visit a Starbucks in Japan. They seem to have a lot of cute stuff there and lots of interesting seasonal drinks we don’t get here.
I’ve walked past The 1912 Pike Place Starbucks many many times, but I’ve only gone in on three different occasions. Twice it was super crowded and once I was like one of five people in the place. I love their specialized mugs and need to make my way back there to pick up a few for sure. I love the location even though it’s generally crowded. Aside from re-visiting this Starbucks I wouldn’t mind visiting Japan and seeing a few of them there 🙂 Yes – if I could go to another country and stop in at a Starbucks it would totally be Japan!
Hi, thank you for the post. I have been to this Pike Place Market Starbucks Store and it was super crowded. I love the design of the store and the “Pike Place Pig – coffee bean version” at the front door – you just have to turn around from to face the door once you entranced the store and looked up and viola!
I would like to visit the Starbucks location in Japan if I have a chance.
iamwaiting for myuk trip,to see ifi canfindanyofthestarbucks imappednear.
also,myspacebar isbroken,so…iwon’tmake thisany longer 😛
I love how Starbucks personalizes each city/store using everyday items! Here in Hawaii we don’t get a lot of your typical “Starbucks” tumblers but we do get the Hawaiian ones. I’m also excited that my store may be one of the first 5 stores in Hawaii to get a clover machine! ahha.
Sorry! I was so excited about the clover I forgot to mention my destination wish list! I would love to visit the Pike Place store as well as the Olive way store. Just to sit in a coffee seminar. Here in Hawaii we have small get togethers for fellow and future coffee masters. Also, I would love to visit my cousin’s store in Japan!
This store has been on my “must visit” for Seattle trips for years, and if friends are going to be in town I always ask them to pick me up a pound or two of Pike Place Special Reserve. We have a few 1912 drinkware items in the house, including an aging tumbler and at least a couple of mugs of differing generations. My last visit was probably in 2008.
There’s just something about the atmosphere of this store that makes it fun to visit. I have fond memories of the Starbucks Cafes in Pacific Place and on Madison, and I do hope to come back and get to see the Tazo and Evolution Fresh stores. Of course, if I can’t get to Seattle, I’ll visit any Clover store whenever I can. The nearest Clover is about three hours away…
I am thoroughly enjoying reading all these replies – I love this kind of thread because of how great the answers are. I can’t reply to everyone but wanted to stop in and say how awesome your destination Starbucks ideas are!
I would pick Pike Place to see where it all began! I am a new follower of your blog after a hunt for Casi Cielo led me to your blog.
@Carla – Welcome! I love seeing the new faces that decide to join in the conversations! You may have already, but if you haven’t yet, I hope you’ll subscribe or click “like” on the blog’s Facebook page. Thank you.

This is why the lines are so long at 1912 Pike Place! Everyone wants to go there.
First, thanks for the giveaway. As for which locations to visit. I don’t need to visit every location but I would like to at least visit one or two during my travels. Some of the more fun locations that I have visited were in Nassau, Bahamas in and outside of the Atlantis. Of course, while I was there I picked up a Bahamas mug while I was there.
Hmmmm I really can’t just pick just one, but my first stop would be 1912 Pike Place!! I’d love to see the unique setting and just to feel and be where it all started would just be fantastice. Then my next stop would be one in Japan because I just love the culture and I’d love just to try all their product and food!! <3 I'd also love to go to one in China and Europe!! <3 I think it'd be fascinating just to visit every different starbucks in the world !!
I’ve never been to the 1912 Pike Place location, but of course I’d love to go! I’m a partner in San Francisco, and have enjoyed the occasional visit from Seattle partners… Only seems right that I should return the favor someday! I’d also like to visit a Starbucks in Germany to try the Himbeer Johannesbeer Frappuccino, or one of the many international locations that serve either a Flat White or Ristretto Bianco. Thanks Melody; love your blog (especially the helpful hints for partners)!
I’ve been to the 1912 Pike Place store a couple of times and really enjoyed it. Been to Starbucks in Mexico many times. Been to Starbucks in Paris once. My dream Starbucks destination would have to be to visit stores all over Europe. The architecture of old European buildings is really something to see and often times Starbucks stores will be in very old buildings in Europe. (as seen here on the blog.)
I’ve never been to Pike Place, would love to go there though. Other SB’s I would love to try are anywhere in the world. It would be a good excuse to travel.
Someday we want to make it to Seattle and visit as many Starbucks stores as possible. But this summer we’ll be in Disneyworld and I’m excited to see the Starbucks that is taking over the bakery on Main Street, USA in the Magic Kingdom. I’ve had mixed feelings about a Starbucks going in there but am putting faith in Disney that they’ll do it right.
I have been to the 1912 Pike Place Starbucks – Well, only on the outside because the line was quite long. However, I am happy to say that I will be in Seattle this Tuesday for a School Psychology Conference! Unfortunately I arrive on a Tuesday so I can’t attend one of the coffee seminars, but at least I know (with thanks to your blog) to arrive super early in the morning – I can’t wait to get my exclusive Pike Place coffee and look at the exclusive merchandise! Thanks Melody for the blog – I look forward to reading it every morning while I drink my Casi Cielo 😉
I would SO love to head to the Bejing Starbucks! Would love to try their versions of my favorite drinks. Was at Pike YEARS ago…but would LOVE to travel!
i have never been to the pike place store..one day i would love to go! i’ve only ever seen pictures..maybe one day i’ll make it out there 🙂
I’ve always wanted to go to Pike’s Place, just to see where it started. Seattle seems to have a great assortment of “different” Starbucks, so I’m hoping in the next few years to visit (the city itself sounds great as well!).
i’d really like to visit the Seattle stores. I’d like to see the 1912 Starbucks store, but also the Tazo, Evolution Fresh, and the Seattle’s Best stores. It’d be fun to see them all.
I started working at Starbucks close to eight months ago. Since than I have fallen love with the world of coffee and have aspired to learn and enjoy everything I can about coffee. I have wanted to travel to the pike place store since before i started working at my dream job. I spend a great portion off all my payment on my mug / merch. collection and my coffee tasting club I recently started. I’m glad I found your website its beautiful. Thank you for the opportunity!!
My journey to the Starbucks Mecca (Seattle) filled a good chunk my unique Starbucks Store Experience! Not only did I get to visit The Market, but all the fantastic stores in-between! From “historic” to the “average store”, it was an overwhelming fun experience all the way around!
I think I’d like to visit the NYC Time Square store, just to see the sheer volume of people they must go through in a day!
Well, I stumbled upon your blog quit by accident while looking for the Starbucks company store. I have been to Pikes Place, it was a dream of mine since I was a Partner back in the late 90’s. my husband granted my wish while visiting his family on Oregon. One whole glorious weekend full of Starbucks!!! A dream come true! Funny enough, I recently became a Shift Supervisor for the Starbucks that was opened in the fall, lucky for me it’s five miles from me. I am soooo excited to be a Partner again, my first day is on Monday! I was looking for the partner website to purchase a hat and lucky for me I found your blog! Thanks for the enthusiasm you have put to great use for all of the Starbucks lovers that are in this world! I will be looking forward to your daily dose!
of course I’d love to go to the place where it all started: 1912 Pike Place!
@Jennie – I am glad you found the site, and I want to wish you the best on Monday! I hope you’ll join in the conversations on this blog often!
@Ana Alidio – Great to see you here! You’ve been a very long-term reader!
Hope this is the correct place Melody, I would love to visit the ageing warehouse in Singapore, and see the Sumatra beans that the sands of time are maturing x
The most out-there Starbucks I have been to is in Istanbul, and I’d love to go back! We drove by one in Athens on that same trip, but it was a tour, and we weren’t able to talk the bus driver into stopping, sadly. My dream location right now – aside from 1912 Pike Place, of course – would be the Circular Quay store in Sydney, Australia.
My parents have been to Seattle and brought me stuff back. Would love to go myself and visit the store and also love to visit the partner store and stock up
have never been to the Pike Street Starbucks, but I would love to visit this Starbucks. It would be interesting visiting the birthplace of Starbucks because it a piece of history And I love starbucks so much I had to get a job there be sides workin full-time. THAT IS MY HAPPY JOB.
hugs to you all
I would have to say Starbucks in Sydney, Australia. It’s on my bucket list to visit that part of the world and I would need a caffene jolt to keep me going since there’s so much to see!
Great contest!
1) @Melody: thanks, as always, for taking the time, and filling your head (and heart) with SO many things Sbux. Hugely appreciated.
2) Sometimes I don’t want to enter these ‘contests’ because of exactly this: the great number of ‘irregulars’ who I understand, may read but never comment and when so many people, many well intentioned of course, just come out of the woodwork for ‘contests’ only…….I get a bit …dismayed.
3) Where would I want to visit for a different Sbux? My #1 choice in the U.S. would have to be 1912, of course. The history, the coffee, the things I would love to buy! Plus, then I’d be in Seattle (have never been) and I could go to the gear store and probably lose my mind, and all my money! I have a life-long friend (grew up together, in Chicago) who called me a few yrs ago from this store…..she’s another Sbux die-hard. She was describing everything to me and wanted to send me a t-shirt and couple things and wanted to know my preferences, etc. I so wanted to be there!
4)My 2nd choice would be any Sbux in London. I LOVE that city…..have spent a few mnths there, studied one term there (many yrs ago….pre-Sbux..pre Sbux anywhere!) and then a few times later. I would love to be there and enjoy London and compare their Sbux to ours! (the first time, when I studied there, one could barely find a decent cup of coffee at all in the U.K., altho this experience did turn me on to a whole other love for tea. (and huge appreciation for a good cup of coffee when I got home!) So, I’d love that.
5) I saw where @purple1 wrote about her desire to visit “Streets of Woodfield”, our beautiful, huge infamous store. How fun that would be if we could be together (purple, you, and CD could meet us there!) I’d put up you and purple and we’d have to go into the city this time, (and of course, have pizza!). Actually, even chgo. could meet us for a Clover at Streets! That would be a blast, for sure.
So, there’s some wishes I have! (I hope in the ‘terms’ you didn’t put anything about only ONE dream location…if you did, then I’m already in violation!)
fun entries to read. So @ purple: do you have the blizzard? I’m guessing, since you’re here, you at least have power? have not read much so maybe you already said all this. will search these conversations in a bit. 😉
If I had to choose my dream Starbucks destination it would have to be at the Starbuck in Chula Vista, CA – Oxford and Broadway with all te original partners from when I first became a Barista. There isn’t anything fancy about that stores merchandise or layout, it’s rather simple and dull…but the way we as partners were befriended by everyone who walked in. It didn’t matter which side of the border the person came from, if they were businessmen, homeless or even disabled. Every one that walked in that door was treated as an equal and they walked out as equals as well. Once we had a regular customer who was autistic and kept the same routine every day; as he was walking out he spilled his grande mocha in a venti cup and became so scared that he just walked out the door and began to walk home. Some patrons told us what happened, we made him another drink and a fellow Barista drove it him as he walked home and gave it to him. Was it against the rules, possibly, but we didn’t want him to break his daily routine since he was autistic. Unfortunately the partners were only part time and we have since moved on, but that would be the destination I would like to visit again with all those partners.
Heck, I even witnessed a proposal while sweeping the lobby and enjoyed some cake from birthday parties that people had there and Twilight premier parties…Yup that is my dream Starbucks destination…if only we could go back in time.
I’ve given this question some thought in the past & I’ve narrowed it down to what I think would be my number 1 dream Starbucks location. I would LOVE to visit (or live in, why not?) Dubai Starbucks! Since there are 28 Starbucks in Dubai (according to Guide2Dubai), which one on the top of the list, would take some more daydreaming & researching, ha. Seriously, you guys have to google the images of Dubai Starbucks, they are just beautiful- esp. the ceilings of some! Don’t ya think so, Melody? It has been on my bedazzled bucket list for years, to visit Dubai, specifically the Starbucks & Sephora. Domestically, I would love to visit where it all began in Seattle. I’ve been drinking it since age 14 (10 years now), so naturally, Starbucks is what I think coffee should taste like. It ruined other coffee shops for me, ha.
I am sorry that I can’t respond to everyone, but I do want to say how much I am still enjoying reading these replies!
