A StarbucksMelody.com blog reader sent me a few photos of a new Starbucks in Amsterdam. It’s located at the “Flower Market,” and I think it opened new last month. These photos are stunning! What a beautiful store. I wanted to share them with you.
Here’s the store’s contact information, from the Starbucks store locator:
Starbucks BlömenMarkt
Singel 480
Amsterdam, NL-NH
1017 AW
Netherlands
Notice that there is a sink at the condiment area! I hope you like these pictures too. Just such a pretty store!

This is truly a gorgeous store. I think I can see on the menu board that they serve the Signature Hot Chocolate there. I loved the espresso truffle that they made from it when we had it here in the USA. I didn’t get it often since it was a bit high in calories. But it was a delicious treat on a cold winter’s day. That sink in the condiment area is just great.
Hi Melody 🙂 It did open just a couple weeks ago 🙂 beautiful store with many items recycled or modeled after the older flower shops in the area. The sink, for example, is found often in these old-fashioned shops, where the florists would clean off the stems and cut them down. The roll paper where the Origin Espresso drawing is on is exactly the paper they use to roll up the tulips or roses you would have bought at the market. The marble countertop is just like in the old florists’ shops as well. The pastry case is also not the “pregnant lady” but a beautiful flat case that Starbucks is currently trying out in certain new stores in Europe. You can’t see the painting in the back on the wall but it’s a beautiful story of the coffee plant. I’ll be down there next week and will try to get some additional photos for you.
And all the chairs outside are one per table, and facing the street.
Melody as usual it seems like international stores have such character that lacks in the USA stores (for the most part). I like the sink, but I can perhaps seeing it as an issue in a USA store. It is also so nice to have tables outside.
Beautiful pics! I love the charm of the shop. I wonder why the chairs are set up like that outside? It looks like they’re preparing to watch something in the street. Is this usual for Amsterdam?
The first word that comes to mind is “charming” when viewing these pictures. From the petite tables and chairs on the outside that face away from the store to encourage people watching, to the wall mural on the inside wall, to the fresh vase of flowers near the condiment area…European touches are everywhere. As “purple1” mentioned, it seems like the international stores have character that’s lacking in the USA stores. Sadly, a lot of our stores are becoming more and more cookie-cutter. I know we’re all one country, but it would be nice to see decor variation from city to city, or at least state to state. Overall, this Amsterdam store has a neighborhood feel that I think Starbucks originally possessed when it first hit the coffee scene…I want more of that to come back. 🙂
Wow! This store is gorgeous. Reminds me of a kitchen. Has more of a home-like feel compared to the ones I have been to in the states. Kinda like someone is inviting you into their house for a cup of great coffee..
I always thought a small sink at the condiment bar would make better sense for dumping here in the USA. I think the glasses on the left side of the condiment bar are a bad idea. It is however always cool to see a differently designed store then what we are so used to.
@Chgo – I love the sink. It looks much better than the drains which just pool old coffee – there are a few Starbucks in Seattle that have that. But it looks like the glasses are about to get knocked off!
What a pretty store! The marble is so unique!
@Amanda – this is very typical of pretty much any terrace in Europe. The terrace is always set up in the morning with the chairs facing outwards to people-watch. As the day goes by the chairs, at least in the Netherlands, follow the direction of the sun 🙂 We get very little good sun here so when it happens we want it on our face as long as possible.
