Starting today, there will be a short break in my blog articles. I am going on a quick vacation. It’s “Hello” to California, and a quick “Goodbye” to Seattle.
While I am away from the blog, I will still be updating this blog’s Facebook page now and then. Eventually, I may upload a few photos from this trip onto my Pinterest page.
If you see a very tired woman collapse in a comfy chair in your California Starbucks store (tired from driving), paying with an Evolution Fresh Card and muttering that she’s driving home to Seattle, please do not be alarmed. That could be me. And, likely I’ll have my phone with me, and taking a few pictures of your beautiful Starbucks. If you are interested in a recap of the Starbucks photo policy, this article here is very helpful – and here’s the policy:
“Personal photography is allowed in stores,” says spokesman Corey duBrowa. “All other filming and video needs to be approved prior. This is a standard policy year round and not convention-specific.”
If I were a barista, I would just say yes. Starbucks has just about encouraged fun photography in stores ever since creating their own Instagram and Pinterest pages. (Of course, that represents a change from the years of a strict no photography policy, going back about four years ago).
If you need more Starbucks content to check out while I am out of town, you could watch the partner-produced videos by the team of baristas known as “Five Awesome Baristas.” (They produce videos out of their passion for Starbucks!) Also, I invite you to read and follow my two other blogging projects: MelodyEats.com and SeattlesBestMelody.com.
I will be doing a lot of driving on this trip. I scoped out some Starbucks stores that I want to visit – not sure I will get to them all! If you see me in your store, I hope you’ll say a big “hello.”
And as always, thank you for reading. See you back here the first week of July!

So you are doing a Starbucks tour in California…how cool!
I wish you a wonderful and safe trip! Have fun and relax! 🙂
@Melody: Happy summer! Hope your trip is good and maybe you get a little rest! Drive safely!. Drink coffee….. 🙂
@Sebastian and Denise – Thanks! 🙂 It’s 5:30 am right now, and I’m getting ready to head out the door!
It is 5:43am on Friday and we are in Chehalis headed TO Seattle FROM CA!!! We will wave to you on I-5… Looks like you have some awesome stores to check out, the one in Lebec will be perfect for the Grapevine leg. Have a great trip and be safe!
Have fun on your vacation! We will be going up the East Coast for our summer road trip in a few weeks. Safe travels!
P.S. The store in Chehalis was my first visit to a La Boulange store 🙂
how exciting I would love to meet you and I was just at irvine yesterday.
Hello Melody
Have a great trip. I have visited many of the locations you listed.
I thought it was interesting that at one time in OC there was a Starbuck’s on three of four corners at one intersection. Admittedly, it was a busy place and broad boulevard.
Anyway, au revoir and enjoy your favorite Starbuck’s drink along the way.
As others have said, enjoy your road trip and look forward to sharing the trip with you by way of this blog. Safe travels! Are you driving alone?
Melody – May you have a safe and enjoyable trip.
This old submarine veteran wishes you fair winds and following seas (we didn’t have to worry about the winds in the submarine 😉 ).
Have fun and drive safe!!!! 🙂
Enjoy your vacation! Thanks for the mention of #FiveAwesomeBaristas! 🙂
Happy Summer Solstice and vacation time to you! Enjoy the sights and may you stumble upon many friendly places. Safe travels and have fun!
See you in So Cal
I hope your trip has started off well! I recently stopped by the Broadway store in Sacramento after not having been there in about a year. They got their remodel and they also have a Clover now! As a Sacramento resident I was trying to think of some of the nicer stores here to suggest to you but the only one that quickly comes to mind is at 1410 East Roseville Parkway up in Roseville. It’s probably a good half hour drive to the east from Broadway so it may not fit your schedule. It’s a great looking store with some very high ceilings. Any time I’m up there I make it a point to stop by. The store at 2001 Stockton Street is another nice one if I recall correctly. It’s a short drive from Broadway as well. Enjoy!
the Tejon Ranch store is busy 24/7 due to the freeway and being in the middle of nowhere. it is THE stop for Central Valley people heading to/from LA. The line of people waiting to order often reaches the door to the parking lot.
Have a great trip.
@Arnie and @Steve – Thanks for the insights. Arnie, your comment doesn’t totally surprise me – that’s one reason I picked the Lebec Starbucks. I’ve heard that the top 2 grossing Starbucks in the US are Times Square in NYC and 1912 Pike Place. I have heard that that store in Lebec is like in the top #5 in the entire US! That amazes me. Here’s this drive thru store isolated in California, that’s only a little less busy than 1912 Pike Place and Times Square. It might be #4 or #5 but I know it’s way up there. I’m curious to see this packed Starbucks.
I was actually just at the Tejon store on Saturday coming back to Sac from LA and as usual it was very busy. But for the first time ever my drink was up at the bar before I had finished paying. The barista was calling the line and that kept things moving at a good pace.
Happy trails, Melody. Hope you get to rest and relax. [Not sure if they have the new Orange Country gift cards yet; if so, hope you get a chance to grab a couple, if you haven’t set out for your next destination.]
That Tejon Starbucks is important because you may need that coffee to stay awake going up the Grapevine… or not fall asleep driving through the boring Central Valley. However, I generally like the Buttonwillow Starbucks, about half an hour away, though.
I guess I missed seeing you ?? didn’t see this post until June 26th. I work in anaheim, fairly close to your posted stops. Would have like to shake your hand and share a cup and some conversation…
Still in the OC ??
