Starbucks is testing out two new holiday beverages right now: the Chestnut Praline Latte and the Cherries Jubilee Mocha. If your local Starbucks has one of those beverages, then it’s likely missing either the Gingerbread Latte or the Eggnog Latte. These are just “test” beverages, meaning that they are not available nationwide!
The Cherries Jubilee Mocha appears to be the smaller test of the two, and is available in limited areas of Florida (Orlando and Tampa). It’s a mocha with cherry syrup, and it calls for a little cocoa powder on top, and a some special cherry drizzle. Take a look at these great pictures of this drink:
The Chestnut Praline Latte appears to be a little bit more widespread test. I’ve heard that it is available in parts of Indianapolis, parts of Wichita, Omaha, and somewhere in Maryland (Baltimore) and a number of Midwest cities.. The Chestnut Praline test beverage is a latte with Chestnut Praline syrup, and topped with whipped cream and spiced pralines bits and pieces.
The Chestnut Praline Latte doesn’t look nearly as sweet at the Cherries Jubilee Mocha (which probably makes a nice Frappuccino too!).
The reader who submitted the above sign wrote, “It’s my new favorite latte. Not overpoweringly sweet – just perfect.”
Unfortunately, I haven’t tried either of these two new test holiday beverages. I think I would enjoy the Chestnut Praline Latte especially! I hope you will weigh in on what you think of them!

Thanks, @Tim. I am always at Target!
The Chestnut Prailine’s in KCMO, too! It’s personally become my favourite drink at Starbucks, even above the Pumpkin Spice~ c:
They may not show Eggnog Latte on the board (the board at my local ones show Peppermint, Caramel Brulee, and Gingerbread) but they may make one. Just ask.
Ahhh!!! I just read all the new comments here about the Chestnut Praline latte and I want to try one so badly!! It sounds fantastic and exactly my taste! Starbucks, I hope you’re reading this and bring it as a promo drink in the new year!!!! Or start doing a larger test area stat!! 🙂
I had the chestnut praline in Rapid Ciry, SD and it was AMAZING. I’m hoping bigger cities like my hometown get them asap because I want another one soon!!
SD, KS, MO, WI, VA, FL, NC, etc…does the entire eastern half of the country have the Chestnut Praline Latte?
Chestnut Latte at the Owings Mills, MD store and it was pretty good. A tiny bit too sugary but tasty enough to get again otherwise 🙂
Ann Arbor, MI has the Chestnut Praline Latte too.
Chestnut Praline is in the “Baltimore” market, including some suburbs (we have it in Columbia). And it is DELISH! A lot of the partners compare it to Golden Grahams cereal 🙂
Dearborn, Michigan has the Chestnut Praline Latte as well! It has a nostalgic taste.
Tampa, FL has the Chestnut Praline Latte and is missing the Gingerbread Latte which is my FAVORITE Starbucks flavor, I wait all year for it! Needless to say, I was devastated to discover this about 2-weeks ago when the Holiday Menus were up and there was NO Gingerbread Latte listed. I asked and they told me not this year 🙁
Anyway, I will be traveling to Ohio next week and have confirmed they have them there. Very excited!
Also, I have tried the Chestnut Praline Latte and I was not a fan, but my sadness could have clouded my judgement. I may give it another try.
Tried the Chestnut Praline today and it rocks! Hope this flavor sticks around, it would definitely be vying for top place against the peppermint mocha for me.
P.s.Can’t we just have all the holiday flavors at all the stores? I promise to drink lots of lattes over the holidays 😉
Grand Rapids, MI has the Chestnut Praline too. I really enjoyed it and tried to order one at a Starbucks in Target where they looked at me like I was crazy….I can’t wait to get another!
I live in Tampa… they are testing the Praline Latte in all the stores here. I am allergic to nuts so no new latte for me, and they are NOT serving the Gingerbread latte in Tampa!!! 🙁 Booooo that is my favorite!
The West Bend, WI Starbucks has the chestnut one. I’m going to sample it tomorrow! They still have all of the regular holiday ones as well.
One of the Starbucks in Sheboygan has the Chestnut Praline. Just had it. It’s not bad. Better than the Caramel brûlée lol
We live in St. Pete, FL and can’t find gingerbread lattes anywhere this year. Totally bummed. Bring it back, Starbucks. Thanks.
Omaha, NE has the Chestnut Praline Latte, at least at three of the Corporate Owned locations I have been to in the last couple of weeks. (I am not sure about the locations in Target, HyVee and other Licensee locations like Barnes and Noble.) It is good…less sweet than the Caramel Brulee and less “spicy” than the Gingerbread but VERY Nutty tasting and mellow. I like it but not as much as I like the new Gingerbread……it is now my favorite Holiday Latte by far…although a friend loves the Chestnut Praline more than any of the other holiday lattes.
The cherries jubilee mocha is TO DIE FOR AMAZING!!!!! I’ve had 4 in the past week and was not a frequent Starbucks visitor prior to this past week. Long live the CJM!!!!
I’ll agree with Lisa – I had the Cherries Jubilee Mocha at Starbucks in both an Orlando-area Target and the Orlando Airport. Had it once hot and once iced, and both were fantastic. I’m normally just a black coffee or espresso drinker, but I made an exception for this one and it was well worth it. I hope they spread the test area out, because now that I’m back in Chicago, I’m wanting another one badly.
Tried the Chestnut latte and was so grossed out by it. Sorry! I just found it had a really odd, overwhelming taste that I could NOT shake. I would love to try the Cherry jubilee but the Chestnut latte is not a winner in my books…
Woo… could not get rid of the nasty taste in my mouth.
Oh and I generally LOVE all Starbucks drinks so…
I’d like to second the comment above that the chestnut praline latte is a not as sweet as caramel brulee, not as spicy as gingerbread and definitely has a strong nutty flavor. I tried it in Chesapeake, VA and it’s my new favorite beverage at Starbucks. Tastes like it was roasted on an open fire or something… mmm!
Does anyone know the ingredients and we can just request it at our local store?? I am so dying to try these flavors. The gingerbread was too spicy for me, I’m not a big fan of nutmeg and the flavor was too strong for me.
Chestnut Praline is available in Blacksburg, VA, at least at the Kent Square store… I really liked it as well. The manager compared it to the gingerbread in terms of sweetness, but I agree that it was not as spicy, and I liked the nutty flavor. They definitely had the eggnog, and I thought they were offering the gingerbread as well… I’ll have to double check today.
Chestnut Praline Latte in Ann Arbor, MI, too at the South U location. It’s delicious! Probably one of the best drinks I have ever had at Starbucks!
I live in Maryland, where is the closest place/state I can get a Cherries Jubilee Mocha? I was just in Tampa over the weekend and tried that but I am really wanting to taste the CJM!!!!! Help me fellow Starbuck fans (addicts;-)!

We have it all over Michigan! Love it
In the Charlotte, NC market we are testing the Chestnut Praline and we kept the Gingerbread. Both are selling really well this season. We kept the Eggnog as well. Also, most customers seem very pleased with GL’s spiced whip cream qnd molasses modifications. Personally, I enjoy the Chestnut Praline with just steamed milk, as opposed to in a latte. Also, it’s very nice in an Americano if you’re wanting something holder.
You know, I’ve had latte’s with the cherry/mocha effect and I think they’re really good. I’d love to see what this one tasted like. But we did get the test market for the Chestnut Praline Latte. One sip, and its like tasting Christmas. I normally only get in pure obsession must-have-starbucks mode for the PSL each year, and then crest to the new year w/only an over eager anticipation for the holiday drinks. Let just say the new CPL changed all that and I’m always there still. So yeah…I think they got a new classic on their hands.
I live in central VA where the chestnut praline is being tested and it is delicious! It is very similar to the creme brulee except it is not nearly as sweet. I will definitely be ordering it again!
The Chestnut Praline is AMAZING. Amazing. Hot one in Grand Rapids, MI…and it’s the best Xmas gift I’ve receive thus far 😉
The Chestnut Praline is AMAZING. Amazing. Got one in Grand Rapids, MI, and it’s the best Xmas gift I’ve received this far;)
Chestnut Praline is the best!!! I hope it sticks around!
The Chestnut Praline Latte is a HUGE hit! Most of my partners get this every day now. It’s fresh- and delicious. Several salts and sugars make the topping. My customers love it in espresso form and in Frappuccinos. I was surprised to see some stores testing this aren’t carrying all of the Holiday beverages. I am in the upstate of SC, and our whole Area (also into NC) is carrying Chestnut Praline, the new Gingerbread, Caramel Brulée, Peppermint Mocha, & Eggnog!
Northville, MI has it. Love it!
Milwaukee, WI has the Chestnut Praline Latte. It is awesome! By far my new favorite Starbucks drink. So sad to discover as I am traveling over the holidays that this drink is just a test. So far I have discovered it’s not available in Kentucky or South Carolina. Can’t wait now to get back home in a few days to get this drink again!
I tried the Chestnut Praline Latte and found it to not have much flavor, although the barista could have just added too much espresso/not enough syrup.
I’m drinking the Frappuccino version now? And it is much better! Nutty taste, just right amount of sweetness, and overall a very enjoyable beverage!
I live in Maryland, but for Christmas I’ll be traveling to Orlando, Florida, where I hope to try the Cherry Jubilee! I’m so excited 🙂
Oh.. I bet a white chocolate version of the cherries jubilee mocha would be fantastic…
Has anyone tried a white chocolate salted caramel mocha or white chocolate peppermint mocha? Oh my <3
Have the Chestnut Praline here in SW Virginia…and it is absolutely delicious!! The best Holiday drink ever IMO.
I had the Chestnut Praline Latte in Virginia Beach, Wash DC and Maryland over Thanksgiving – YUM. My absolutely favorite hot coffee at Starbucks. Then I returned home to Arizona where it’s not being tested…..sucks. Fingers crossed for next winter!
It is absolutely the best latte SB has done in years. Not too sweet, nutty and the spiced praline pieces are a nice touch. Recommend.
I live in a suburb of Detroit and my Starbucks has the Chestnut Praline flavor. I love, love this flavor. I so hope it will be offered every year for the holidays. I have spent a small fortune on having these fraps before they go away again. I have even taken to putting cloves in my coffee that I brew at home (Starbucks Sumatra). It then has the hint of taste of the praline. Please keep this flavor for the future.
I’m in the Orlando area, and was asking about the Cherries Jubilee Mocha. My barrista recommended half the syrup, since it is pretty sweet. I did, and it was great! I’m trying to cut out some sugars, and this was a good way to get the taste, without all the sugar.
So here’s my take on the:
Chestnut Praline Latte – very subtle, I usually prefer my coffee very sweet and full of flavor. I honestly could hardly taste this. On the other hand, my father (a regular black coffee drinker) seemed to pick up on the taste much more and really enjoyed it.
Chestnut Praline Frappuccino – Very good! Delicious, perfect! Nutty, sweet, definitely a must try if it’s in your area 🙂
Cherries Jubilee Mocha – I love mochas, but not cherries. If you don’t like cherries, you probably won’t enjoy this one. If you do, you’ll love it. It has a strong chocolate/cherry taste similar to drinking a liquid version of a Black Forest cake. Although I wasn’t a fan of it, my father (regular black coffee drinker), brother (not a regular coffee drinker, but he knows how to enjoy a good latte), and my mother (usually HATES all things coffee or coffee related due to its bitterness) LOVED it. We all agreed that it tastes more like a higher quality cherry flavored hot cocoa rather than a mocha. But again, if you like cherries in sure you’ll like this one, coffee fan or not.
The Chestnut Praline Latte is my new favorite. Wonderful subtle flavor. Put me in the holiday mood. Love this one even more then the pumpkin spice latte and that is my all time favorite. I agree with the other comments about it being less sweet then the creme brulee. I will definitely be ordering it again!
Disappointed that you didn’t make the Cherry drink available in Michigan. The last cherry drink 4 years ago was phenomenal but only lasted about a month or two and never came back. Please make this Cherry drink available in Michigan Soon. Chestnut Praline is very good, but since I love Cherries I think the Cherry drink will be better. And the fact that Michigan has the Cherry capital in the world, it only makes sense that you would have offered it in Michigan. 🙂
Tried the chestnut praline latte today – fantastic!
LOVVVVVVE the Chestnut Praline latte….had a similar experience with others. Ordered one while traveling through Salisbury, NC….tried to order it in my hometown (Burlington NC – one hour away) at several Starbucks locations and got the “deer caught in the headlights” look. Made me feel like I was crazy….might be good to let the stores know the new flavors are being tested and where they might need to go to score one! Please bring Chestnut Praline back next year….pretty please….with praline bits on top…………..
I live in Annapolis MD we ran the Gingerbread, Chestnut Praline and Caramel Brule in our Safe way Store. The Chestnut was absolutely wonderful. So wonderful that i bought my own syrup bottle. I was crushed when i learned i couldn’t buy a bottle of the toppings. In one week i gained 200lbs drinking half the bottle. Just kidding..kind of. I love it. I wish we had the CJL. Cherry would be awesome. The Gingerbread was foul with the Molasses but not so bad without. The Brule was ok as a distant second. I despise anything pumpkin so after a quick taste ttest I snubbed it.
