It’s been a long time since I’ve done a giveaway. If you want to enter this giveaway, you have to follow all of the instructions. I’ll delete comments that don’t. Please read all the instructions. You must be over eighteen years old. You must have a mailing address within the United States or Canada. You may only enter once. If I receive more than valid entry 200 comments, then no comments after 200 will be counted. The contest ends March 7, 2014 (at 6:00 p.m. PST), or at 200 comments, whichever comes first. There will be only one winner, picked at random by me. I’ll put all the names in a hat, and draw out one name. Please enter with a valid email address so that I can easily reach you, should you be selected as the winner. The grand prize is a Sounders Starbucks card pre-loaded with $75 on it. You must share something on this blog: use any form of social media that you like – tweet an article, share via Facebook anything on this blog, pin via Pinterest a photo, use Google+ to share, just for example of means of social media sharing. I am hoping to introduce more people to this little website. I don’t have anyway of really tracking who shared what so I’m counting on the honor system. But your comment below must at least include the words “I shared” and include what form of social media.
Your comment (which must appear below) must include ONE single thing that you either would really want to change or not see changed at Starbucks. This is not a rant session. I am asking that you write with specificity. The only means to enter is a comment below. An email to me or a comment appearing on Facebook, or something else is not a valid entry.
Last night, I went to a happy hour with some friends. I saw a guy whom I’ve known for years and years (he’s an attorney in private practice), and he said to me, “Melody, I just love Christmas Blend. If I stock up on it, how do I store it best? Do I put it in the freezer? How long will it be good for? I never know what coffee to buy when I don’t have Christmas Blend.” I had a moment of realizing that for my friend Matthew, the ONE thing that always keeps him walking back in the door to Starbucks is the Christmas Blend.
And in speaking of the one thing many people would want to change, I hear over and over that people a lemon loaf with icing back! Please limit yourself to ONE single thing that you either want to change or to stay the same and please don’t forget the “I shared” information. I know it’s hard not to talk to about two or three things that you want to throw out in one comment.
I look forward to reading your comments below. I will not be replying to comments, but I am reading them. I’m deleting comments that don’t conform to all the rules above. 🙁 Edit: If your comment is not appearing below, it didn’t follow all of the above rules. I made this a little hard because it is a $75 Starbucks card. Most people are getting tripped up because they want to talk about many things so that feel like they have to write more, like “also…” and start whole new concepts. Also many people are forgetting the “I shared” part. If your comment does not appear below, re-try. Before you submit, double check to see that you included just one topic, and you’ve got the “I shared” language in there. 🙂 Good luck to everyone!

I shared on Twitter! I would like to see some more latte/frappucino flavors that taste great as non-fat and sugar-free for us calorie-concious people. Some more variety of sugar-free syrups would be great!
The one thing i would change is to bring Starbucks Evenings to the east coast – i think bringing it to Orlando would introduce the concept to such a cross section through tourism and allow the concept to flourish.
P.S. I shared your blog through Facebook!
I shared your blog via my blog!
One thing I would change is different prices for tea based on cup size. Why is a grande tea more than a tall? It’s the same tea. Are they really charging for the extra hot water?
I’ll be sharing via Twitter here in a moment, probably the Tribute Blend blog.
The thing that I’d like to see change/not change is actually two sides of the same coin – I hope they never take out the drive thru stores there are, and I wish they’d put more in! It’s so nice when the weather sucks to not have to get out of the car 🙂 I know this is dictated by logistics and space, but I thought I’d throw it out there.
What a great contest idea Melody! I hope you get to 200 entries, it’ll be neat to see what other people love/want to see changed!
I have a couple of good ideas, well I think so anyway.
Make the stores more “uniform” all stores should have the Clover, not just select stores. That way all Sbux fans get to experience that if they wish.
When the barista scans your card, all your codes and freebies should automatically come up on the screen so the barista should say, would you like to apply one of your codes to your order today?
I shared via twitter.
Thanks for the contest I shared on Twitter. The one thing I would change is the opportunity to get some of these regional specific cards and mugs I know the idea is to keep them regional specific but for people that don’t or can’t travel it would be nice to be able to order them through calling a store in that area….would love me a Pike Place Mug 🙂
I am sharing your blog on Facebook! I would love it if refills would count for another star if you return sometime the same day…even if there was a limit of say 2 or 3 hours on that. I enjoy reading your blog Melody!
I shared on Facebook. I wish more stores had clover machines.
I always hoped that Starbucks rewards will actually increase the number of stars for the purchase of coffee beans. Being the most expensive food item, it should command more than just 1 star.
I tweeted a link to your great blog.
I shared your blog on Facebook, love what you do! The one thing I would like to see changed is more variety of coffee for Canada, we don’t get as many of the different blends as the US does, so we have to stock up when we go there.
I shared via Twitter.
I would change the refill policy so that it automatically works with your Starbucks card and that way there would be no confusion or discrepancies.
Melody I shared on Twitter. I wish SB would have more options for vegetarians.
One thing I would like to change is the Refill policy… it is challenging for Partners …. our goal is World Class Customer Service… part of that should be to refill their coffee or tea as a complimentary service, the Customer has already showed loyalty and paid for a beverage… I would like to honor the Customer… as we are all a family…. not stores individually… but collectively…. Thanks again Melody!! I share your blogs on Facebook…..
I shared your blog on Facebook.
I would like Starbucks to keep
Tiramisu! I love it !!! St. Louis is
testing it now, but I sure hope
It’s a keeper!!!
I shared on FB. As a former Starbucks partner/barista, one thing I would love for Starbucks to bring back is the “third place” feel of each Starbucks store. Howard’s first book talked about Starbucks being the third place after home and work were first and second respectively. Now, I feel I enter Starbucks and it is just over branded and over incorporated. I miss the days of baristas actually measuring out beans, truly creating a person’s drink and the wonderful aroma of the coffee beans in the store.
That’s my take. I still love Starbucks though and always will.
Shared on facebook! I’d love to see them bring coconut back this summer! Everyone in my area loved it, and we made some pretty cool stuff with it (German chocolate cake, anyone?)
Just shared on Facebook – and as other’s here have suggested, I feel like the refill policy could be changed to add one more condition – that every morning customers could come back in afternoon for a refill in any cup for a nominal fee, on your Starbucks card.
I am a partner an would change play book. I will share on FB
Shared via Facebook. One thing that I hope never changes about Starbucks is the beautiful atmospheres of most stores.

When the barista scans our card or phone, all our codes should come up for the barista to see, which would prompt them to ask what code, if any, would we like to redeem for this purchase.
Love, love, love Starbucks, but wish the star/reward thing came up automatically when I purchase something. I don’t have a smart phone and I don’t always get the email msg. saying that I have a free drink, so it would be nice to hear the barista say – “Oh, did you know you have a free drink coming today?” I shared your blog and contest on Facebook!
I agree with Alayna, I wish they had more drive-thru stores. There are 4 Starbucks within a 5 minute drive from my work and none of them have a drive thru. What makes matters worse, they are all located in a small shopping plaza with limited parking. It makes it a little tough to run out and get a beverage during my 15 minute break. I shared on Twitter.
I shared via Facebook. Starbucks is the best, but I wish they would have more of a variety of “less sugary” things in the pastry counter. I’d love to buy a single bagette or multi-grain roll for breakfast instead of seeing mostly sugar filled pastrys/cookies/brownies etc. in the case. (And I can only eat so many bagels before getting bored). A variety of rolls would be SO nice! 🙂
I just shared on my Pinterest Coffee Coffee Coffee Board your website & selected your cups pic from your tour. My Pinterest name is ChewbaccaW and have 300+ followers so I hope this helps. Love you & your Blog!
I’d like to suggest Starbucks use a different color nozzle for when they do Carmel Flan whip cream, etc.

One thing I hope Starbucks never changes is their continuing emphasis on trying to be a responsible global company. I really appreciate the way they try so hard to make sure their company is run in a way that a human can be proud of – from the growers to the people working in their stores!

The one thing i dont want them to change is the oatmeal – that is my go to breakfast/meal when im sitting in an airport!
Hi,
I shared on Twitter: https://twitter.com/brianchow/status/439441616793661441
One thing that I really want to change at Starbucks is the way to earn stars for the Starbucks Rewards program. Instead of awarding one star per transaction, which would prompt someone to ask the barista to swipe multiple times for multiple items, I would recommend a star based on the amount spent. I have been in lines in which customers in front of me asking the baristas to create multiple transactions for one order.
I shared in Facebook.
The one thing I really would like Starbucks to do is to round up purchases to the nearest dollar with the extra going to a local charity- like a food bank or children’s hospital.
When I use my card to pay, it would be great if the barista would ask if I want to use any available rewards rather than just automatically taking payment. Sometimes I forget the reward is there or forget to ask them to apply it. Having a little memory jog would be great.
Sharing your blog on Pinterest!
Hi Melody,
I have shared your blog through Facebook.
I would love to see more city collector card in all major cities – maybe capital cities? I just love the idea of having those little tokens from the cities I get to visit.
I LOVE Starbucks coffee but can only drink the decaf. Therefore, I would like to see a DECAF version of Christmas ESPRESSO, Anniversary Blend, Thanksgiving Blend and Tribute Blend; and when Starbucks includes a bonus espresso cup – please include it with the Decaf Blend too! I get that most of the world drinks the regular or high-octane stuff. But it feels like DECAF folks are “not as important” to them. And of course they aren’t from a biz perspective. But always thought that Starbucks doesn’t want to be about just the bottom-line. Shared your contest on Facebook Melody.

Hi Melody! I love your blog! The only change I would really like to see is that when the barista scans my card that they could see I have a reward. I often forget I have a reward and lose them.
I shared on Facebook and Twitter (yes, ol’ Dad has Facebook and Twitter pages, under his real name though).
My one change is simple, and that is get back to the basics of coffee and the original third place concept.
I shared on facebook! I would love every drink purchased at the same time to count as a star.
I LOVE Starbucks but I wish they had a really great VENTI mug. I can’t get by on a Grande for a day…..I need the VENTI and the those refillable mugs are few and far between. So a really great (no handle) mug in the VENTI size is what I wish they would offer! I will share via facebook!
I shared on Facebook. I wish you could call in an order. My local Starbucks has cake pops, which are probably my most favourite thing ever – in the whole wide world, right? They’ve been out lately, which is really upsetting. I think I should be able to say that I want ten, and will buy them all in an hour – if they’re ready and made.
I shared via Facebook…
What I would love to see changed (or added) at Starbucks are more non caffeine or decaf drink options.
I shared on Facebook. Starbucks needs to improve their customer service. When I asked a cashier to check the balance on my card, he rudely said that I needed to purchase something first. I’ve never heard of such a thing before. Starbucks needs to treat every customer with courtesy and helpfulness.
I shared on Twitter. ^___^
One thing I would like to change is more clarity on the promo codes. Starbucks can either add more description to the app, send the email in a more timely manner, or provide more information to the baristas.
It is a real bummer to try and use a promo code with a vague description like “50% off drink” and it won’t go through. And neither myself or the barista has anyway of getting more information on why it won’t work.
I shared VIA (get it?) Twitter.
One of the many things I like Starbucks to do is open more Evening/Clover stores in the East Bay/Bay Area (CA). I’ve never been to one or had a Clover-made coffee.
I shared! I would love more decaf options as I can only drink decaf. I collect starbucks cards so would love to win this one!
I shared this article on twitter! I would LOVE for Starbucks to bring back the dark Cherry syrup!! I used to love getting dark cherry mochas, and while I have tried raspberry, it just isn’t as good! Bring back the cherry!! I would also like the beer and wine stores to be rolled out to more locations, but I’m sure it will be a long wait before it gets to me in WV!
I am so bummed my store isn’t getting the sounders cards!!!!! I hope I’ll be able to get at least one!! 🙂
Ok, one thing I don’t want starbucks to change…. While I think this will be a positive change, I really am not looking forward to the switch to teavana teas (hot and iced).
Hi Melody!
Living in SoCal, there would be no way for me to get a Sounders card to add to my card collection, so I am super excited about this giveaway!
I am going to share about your blog on instagram, since I don’t do facebook or twitter. I’ll put a link to your blog in my post!
I would like to see the Rewards point system go by money spent, as it does seem kind of unfair to get the same about of points no matter how much you spend.
🙂
Super excited about this! I love these special cards…I shared on Twitter! And tweeted out about your blog 🙂
I’d love for Starbucks to change how they decide who gets Clovers! I’d love to see a few here soon.
Shared with my Twitter. @killertomato
I would love Almond syrup back!! Maybe even melon!
Melody, I shared on twitter…bring back zucchini walnut bread!
I liked & shared on Facebook. It’s hard to pick just one, but I wish they would bring back the old Raspberry Scone. I want to add that I really enjoy your blog & it keeps me up to date on the Starbucks happenings.
Hi Melody! Long time lurker, first time (I think?) commenter. I shared on Twitter. I really want my local Starbucks to bring back the cozy chairs – right now we have long community tables but it makes it hard to sit and chat with a friend. Thanks for the chance to win!!!!
I would like for all Starbuck’s locations to have a consistent refill policy that is known by all Partners.
Like and Shared!
