Starbucks has heard the cries of many who want their eggnog lattes at Starbucks! It’s been a holiday favorite at Starbucks every single year since 1986! The places in the country who were missing their Gingerbread Lattes will see those come back too! I talked with an official Starbucks spokesperson this morning (Linda Mills) who told me that Starbucks is “pleased to announce that they’re bringing back the Eggnog Latte just in time for the holidays, and it should be arriving in stores the week of November 17th.”
Customers in the Pacific Northwest “also made it known that they wanted their Gingerbread latte back” and Starbucks is “working quickly to make that happen.” Be on the look out for all your favorite holiday drinks in Starbucks stores the week of the 17th. Linda Mills (who is in the Seattle headquarters) mentioned to me that she herself is really looking forward to a Gingerbread Latte this year, complete with the molasses drizzle on top! She said, “We disappointed our customers, and we are sorry. We want to make it right for them.”
Feel free to talk about your favorite holiday drink or Starbucks holiday tradition in the comments. Enjoy your Gingerbread Latte, Eggnog Lattes and other favorites!

Blech. I was looking forward to not having eggnog.
I like that Starbucks listens to their customers! There was definitely lots of passionate customers wanting their favorite holiday drinks back in their area being expressed on social media.
I wish they’d bring back the Vanilla Spice Latte.
Thank you for listening, Starbucks! This was definitely a marketing blunder, but hooray that you listened to your customers! We Southern Californians LOVE your egg-nog lattes and can’t wait for the 17th!
Get out your ear plugs (for some reason steaming the eggnog for the eggnog latté seems to make more noise than normal milk steaming).
What a low marketing ploy by Starbucks to make it appear that the eggnog was not coming back. There is no way that this was not planned, they had to have product in the warehouse.
MSI has been flooded with eggnog spam for almost a week now. Since I have sworn off Starbucks Facebook and Twitter I can only image the flaming that has been going on.
IMHO, Starbucks has set a bad precedent here. I hope not, but then again look forward to more whining from “customers” who want it their way or the highway
Yes, I am calling this action humbug.
Eggnog Lattes are my winter drink of choice! I visit my local Starbucks on a regular basis and was heartbroken when they announced they wouldn’t have it this year. I said I was going to boycott Starbucks… well that only lasts a day and then I went back 😉 I am so very excited that I will be able to order it this year! Thank you Starbucks!!!!
Also Christmas Blonde is back..(and addtion of K-Cup form too)………together with Holiday Blonde (and addtion of K-Cup form too)
Holiday Blonde is “Channel Development”/CPG”/Grocery only.
… as a PNW person, was upset at the news that Gingerbread Latte not here! ,,, actually, I get an Eggnog Latte with a couple of splashes of Gingerbread for my “time for the Holidays” Drink!
As a recent partner & long time Starbucks fan, I have to say eggnog is my absolute least favorite thing. It smells horrible to me – I’m sure it’s just my sensitive stomach, but I had to walk away from making drinks last season because I couldn’t handle it – especially if someone requested “extra hot” – and/or “full strength.”
I know all Starbucks drinks have an absurd amount of sugar, but to add the eggnog smell to it – just too much.
I really miss being a partner for a lot of reasons but when I heard this news my stomach was very thankful that I can avoid feeling sick all day at work.
I’m glad they’re rolling eggnog out nationally. It’s holiday tradition!
I’ll admit to a little skepticism, too, @DadCooks. They got lots of people talking about the holiday drinks and then pulled a “we heard you” announcement.
I think it’s strongly not the case that Starbucks contrived the whole bring back eggnog thing. I suspect it really is a better seller in the PNW than other areas and that they thought that 5 promoted holiday drinks is too much.
I was so excited to hear this! Feedback with instant action. Love it!!!
Maybe it’s a contrived marketing scheme but do you really want to say “We blew it” and look like morons as a marketing plan? That’s good PR? Methinks not.
Not a big eggnog fan… but the new chestnut praline latte is delicious! I had a sneak peak of it. SOOOO good! And if you’re an MSR user, look for it coming out a little early (11/8!)
@CamSpi – I can’t wait for Chestnut Praline on the 8th!!! I got a small sneak peek within the past week, and loved it. The topping is amazing. I can totally see why Starbucks didn’t want to have five holiday drinks across the nation. (Caramel Brulee Latte, Eggnog Latte, Gingerbread Latte, Chestnut Praline, and Peppermint Mocha as a seasonal drink with chocolate curls).
I would be curious to see if by rolling out Eggnog across the country will actually be profitable. Will any marketing be done? Starbucks has already sent out their holiday promotionals, so to offer a holiday drink that won’t even be featured on the menu seems a bit unprofitable. Behind the bar, you have so many extras during the holiday season (caramel brule sauce, brule topping, gingerbread syrup, spiced whip cream, molasses drizzle, chocolate curls, sugar free peppermint, chestnut praline, praline topping), and to add eggnog is just a logistical nightmare during the holiday season. Not to mention many stores are still carrying the peach and blackberry syrups from the summer. I understand that offering a “holiday tradition” drink like eggnog will make some people happy, but I think Starbucks will lose money by actually bringing it back with no marketing in stores to sell it. How about making a new holiday tradition with Chestnut Praline. We had it last year as a test market and it was by far the most popular holiday drink.
I’m sure there is an in store marketing plan being put together right now, if they need it.
I’m looking at a menu at a Pioneer Square Seattle Store, and the printed menu doesn’t have any mention of any of the holiday drinks (Its back at Pumpkin Spice and Salted Carmel Mocha.) But the chalkboard has holiday drinks on it.
In the short term they can put eggnog lattes on the chalk board. If they need to put it on the menu, they can do a sticky add on, the way they did for Tazo to Teavana, or that they when they’re out of a specific drink.
PLEASE don’t forget Canada. We love Gingerbread & Eggnog Lattes too!!
Feeling scammed by Starbucks. All my local places are NOT making eggnog lattes, they say it is a regional decision made m
By Starbucks as they did not sell enough last year. Bah humbug,
I was upset when Eggnog lattes were not coming to the Northeast region, and literally the next day I got the post about it coming back — JOY! However, I am super upset because I immediately ordered it at two different locations and it tastes BAD. After the first time, I chalked it up to maybe not enough syrup or whatever, but after the second time I just had to ask what exactly is IN there, so I could try to troubleshoot why the delicious flavor from past years was now bland, with barely any flavor. The baristas told me it has always been made with REAL eggnog. Ok, but what is different then? Surely it must be something? They said this year it is a different brand of eggnog. So, there you go. I regretfully will not be enjoying Eggnog Lattes this year after all: (
