Now through February 1st, when you go to Starbucks before 2:00 PM, you’ll get a “Sweet Receipt” when you make a purchase. Hang on to your actual receipt. When you return to Starbucks after 2:00 PM, you can use that receipt to get any pastry item for $1. Enjoy a lemon loaf, a croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, or whatever pastry you like for just one dollar with that receipt. The sweet receipt is good for bakery items. It’s not good for things like paninis, breakfast sandwiches, oatmeal, or any non-bakery item. This is a great way to try what’s new at Starbucks.
Sometimes people ask if they have to return to the same Starbucks in the afternoon. The answer is “no.” You can go to one Starbucks in the morning, grab your morning cup of coffee and hang on to your receipt, and then go to a different Starbucks in the afternoon.
Look for this to be honored in all company-operated Starbucks stores in the U.S. Sometimes licensed stores don’t participate in every promotion.
Enjoy your Sweet Receipt!

Yeah Chocolate chip cookie here i come sounds so good
I know this might be a good deal, but after going through that contest for free SB and having to put in the code (which meant taking the receipt) I wish SB would be able to see that you were there in the am and have the option to get the treat receipt offer without the receipt. I have been getting so many star rewards emails of late for various purchases and do not need the receipt if I do them, so can’t it be done? I look at my account online often enough to see what my card balance is so do not need a paper receipt.
This is great, but the baristas at my local Starbucks never give me my receipt which means I have to ask for it and then I invariably get the exasperated half-sigh, as if I’m really putting them out. If I’m paying with the app, there should be a way to get the afternoon treat deal without a receipt.
Always love the sweet receipt! Nothing like a sweet treat in the afternoon.
Thanks for the info Melody. I’ve seen nothing of this promo anywhere else. Have to check MSI I guess…..or maybe it’s up in stores but I didn’t see anything yesterday in 2 stores.
Canadian stores are not doing the sweet receipt, but are doing the treat receipt ($2 grande beverage) instead, starting on Friday.
so….the problem is many of the regular stores are out of so many pastries by noon! It would really be a freak chance to find something I really wanted after 2P…..in most stores.
Iām assuming this works at Grocery Store Starbucks Kiosks? Do you know if I can buy a drink at those kiosks in the morning and save the receipt, then claim the $1 treat in the stand-alone Starbucks? I get out of work so late by the time the grocery store kiosks have already closed!
I tried this yesterday, and went to a store at about 6pm. They were out of my first three choices of pastries. In the end, I felt like I spent a dollar for something I didn’t really want. Somewhat disappointing.
Pardon me for saying it, but this has little to do with giving you something sweet for $1. It’s about getting you in there so that you would spend money on a drink. Remember when Starbucks was giving out pastry for free or $1 before 9 or 10 am? Those never went over well with customers. I always remember the excuse being, “We didn’t have any of those today!” or “We ran out!”….. I could walk in less than an hour before they opened, and the idea of a treat receipt was moot. Ahhh!!!! But I still had to buy something to drink. Now…. It would be rare that I would return to Starbucks for anything later in the day. However… If I did for a $1 pastry they were out of….. Why would I make it a waste of a trip? I would probably order something different than my usual coffee. I would probably order something in the order of what DadCooks refers too as a froo froo drink. I’m not walking out empty handed. How many people would? Starbucks knows that. Mission accomplished…….
Typo: I meant to say – less than an hour after they opened.
Actually in Canada we have treat receipt for $3 grande drink……all prices went up recently and so did this promo… š
On Monday morning when they handed me the treat receipt, I was so surprised! I am so used to @StarbucksMelody telling me in advance what is going on at Starbucks that I could not believe that something would happen without me knowing about it in advance. I did not realize how much I had come to depend upon the blog! Of course, later I saw this post. Thank you @StarbucksMelody for all the hard work you put into the blog!
@IzzyJ – LOL – I love that comment. Well, sometimes I have tons of things in my head that I want to write about and then get sidetracked or forget! I was a little late getting this one up. I leave today on a short vacation and will have more to write about after visiting some stores in southern California!
I have to say my favorite store has been awesome about this. They put up a large chalkboard sign letting everyone know about Sweet Receipts and when you buy something in the morning all 3 times they’ve asked me if I wanted my receipt and circled the offer at the bottom. I’ve used it as an excuse to get my fave, the lemon loaf. Unfortunately I know there’s a long line at 2 pm, sweet receipt or not, so I go there as close to 2 as I can. I’m sure by 4 or 5 pm there would be nothing left.
I love the sweet receipt but rarely capitalize on it with this January tumbler. š I bought a lemon loaf this morning to go with my brewed coffee (the January tumbler is awesome!) specifically for the sweet receipt and then I never went back.
There should be a special where once a week if you use a travel cold or hot mug you get a bakery item for a $1 at the time of purchase… One environmental day a week from every store would be a win win win all around….. The store savings and good carma, the environment and the customers
