Come to Starbucks this Friday for the world’s largest Starbucks date! Your local Starbucks will be hosting romance, coffee, and more this Friday, all part of Valentine’s Day weekend fun. You may even get your beverage in a super cute Valentine’s Day cup with hearts on it!
There will be special pairings this Friday for just five dollars. The French press of Verona with a brownie sounds fabulous! (You can see old packaging of Starbucks Caffe Verona coffee in this post here.) Other pairings include a tall Flat White and a chocolate croissant, or a grande White Mocha and a heart-shaped cookie.
It’s possible that your Starbucks store may have other fun things happening this Friday night. One of my neighborhood Starbucks (East Olive Way) will have live music this Friday.
Speaking of East Olive Way, just as a reminder, this store hosts regular coffee tastings, every other Monday night at 6:00 PM. Please join me in a coffee tasting. I go to the vast majority of these coffee seminars. The coffee events are free and open to the public. It’s suggested that you call ahead and confirm their coffee tasting schedule. The next coffee tasting will be on the 23rd.
Last Monday, on the 9th, Coffee Master Megan paired Caffe Verona coffee with the Starbucks chocolate – raspberry truffles. These special truffles are part of the Evenings food offerings:

Starbucks created Caffe Verona in 1975, and was blended to pair beautifully with chocolate. This is the essential go-to coffee for a pairing with a lovely chocolate dessert. Given that Valentine’s Day often involves chocolates, this is the best coffee pick for your red letter day!
It’s an amazingly smooth coffee, with very low acidity, and a full body. Megan prepared the Verona via a Chemex brewer which gave it a clean finish. The Raspberry Truffles mellow out the roasty-ness of the coffee. You can see a few pictures of the coffee event here:

Just as an aside, Verona is still one of my favorite core coffees. I admit I buy the Verona Verismo pods all the time!

It is nice they are doing something different, but no pairings with tea?
Sorry! Purple1, there isn’t a tea option. I could see an Oprah Chai as part of a pairing too! Good point.
It is sort of interesting to me that SB is promoting teas, but yet they are not doing any pairings during this promotion. You would think since so many people are upset over losing Tazo that they would do some tea pairings.
That’s an interesting observation that Purple 1 makes. They should be doing a tea pairing too. And why are they doing this on Friday the 13th instead of actually on Valentine’s day? Maybe it should be done on both days. I think it’s a nice idea but just should be on the 14th. And yes, a pairing with tea would be ideal.

I think this will be so fun! Cafe Verona is one of my first favorites too! I agree that it would be nice to have a tea tasting – maybe a Perfect Tea Maker of loose leaf Oprah Chai with a Classic Coffee cake, or if they borough in the Chocolate Cinnamon Bread back. Maybe they’re leaving that to Teavana cafes? I wonder if anyone has information on that.
This was a great idea, but the execution could have been a little better — at least here locally. My regular store was sold out of all the pastries by 3:30, and a partner I chatted with said that they only had 3 of each pastry when they started. For an event that was advertised as heavily as this one, I would have thought that they would have attempted to have stock on-hand at least for a few hours. Hopefully they will try again next year (with a tea option as well), and I won’t have to leave disappointed.
