I melt for a good cat pic. I can’t even explain it. A reader submitted this photo of her cat checking out a little cup of whipped cream. It’s cute! Brings new meaning to the word, “Cattuccino.” 😉
If you have a good photo of your cat (or dog) enjoying a Starbucks drink, or any Starbucks related cat (or dog) themed photograph, please email me! Melody@StarbucksMelody.com. Also the Frappuccino of the Week column is open for submissions.

The picture may be cute, but it may not be good for your cat. Adult cats are usually lactose intolerant so be prepared for diarrhea and intestinal discomfort. Also caffeinated beverages can cause a racing heart and agitation.
For reference take a look at this web site, page 2 has the information on milk and coffee: http://www.vetstreet.com/our-pet-experts/7-foods-you-should-never-feed-your-cat
To keep your cat and/or dog healthy know what you are feeding them, and most “people” foods and beverages are not included.
They also call this a puppy latte and have treated our daughter’s dog to one. From what I gather, they are popular with pet owners. The puppy latte is also just whipped cream and in moderation perhaps not so bad.
Us dog lovers demand equal time!
@dadcooks, this is my cat, and he didn’t like the cattuccino, but he loves, and i mean LOVES coffee. i know it isn’t good for him… but he will open bags and eat the beans :O only specific ones though….. the most expensive, usually.
@jocelyn – please tell your Veterinarian about this coffee bean eating habit ASAP. If your cat has an undiagnosed heart problem this could present a problem also a potential kidney and liver problems. There could also be another health/dietary problem that is causing your cat to eat coffee beans.
My wife and I foster cats and kittens for our local Humane Society (from 8 to 20 a year) and we are in the Veterinarian’s Office several times a month as we also provide foster day hospice for cats who need daily medications and IVs that their working owners cannot provide during the day. While my Veterinary Assistant training was 50 years ago I have kept current with procedures and treatments so I am not just a old crazy cat man.
SO CUTE
@dadcooks I have talked to my vet about it. You would have to meet my cat to fully understand this, because he is much more dog like, and not like any other cat I have ever had.. but he likes to help me in the kitchen, he will sit next to me and watch what i am doing. he knows how to turn on the scale to prepare a chemex.. he is trying to make coffee. there are specific coffees he likes (sun dried especially) We have come to the conclusion that he wants to do what I am doing. This behavior began after his brother ran away, and he sticks to me like glue. He is a great cat.
for the record, i try to keep coffee away from him, but if i have ethiopia konga in the house, forget about it. he will find it.
@Jocelyn, it sounds like your cat is trying to make a home made version of Kopi Luwak. 😉
My dog was treated to a “puppy whip” during a visit to St. Louis. The barista at the drive through offered it at the window. I had never heard of it (a sample size cup of whipped cream). My dog loved it and it was a nice Starbucks “surprise and delight” moment.
@jocelyn, I am very pleased that you have discussed this with your Veterinarian. I fully understand your cat’s behavior. Most people do not realize that cats are not loners, they are very social. Encourage your cat, sounds like you are his best friend.
Your cat is very beautiful, his head markings are typical yet very unique. I am also a sucker for white boots.

@LatteRose – thank you for posting that link to the Pet Poison Hotline. I had completely forgotten about it and have now moved its bookmark to my folder of important links.
