We’re just a couple of weeks away from the launch of Anniversary Blend 2015! Here’s what it looks like:
Anniversary Blend has been offered every year since 1996. The hallmark of Anniversary Blend is its Aged Sumatra component, which gives it a spicy flavor note. You can look back at to the Anniversary Blend packaging from a few years ago as well as an original 1996 Anniversary Blend in-store banner here.
This year’s bag design was created by Starbucks creative designer Victor Melendez. Find him on Instagram here. He even gives you a sneak peek into the creative process:
Be on the look out for Anniversary Blend in Starbucks stores everywhere on September 9th.
Enjoy!

Always look forward to Anniversary Blend! Thanks so much for the great info on the bag design. She is aging very well and looks better every year! Any word on this coming in K cups again like the past few years?
That is beautiful artwork on that bag. Love it.
Love the packaging! Love Anniversary Blend! I’m hoping there will be mugs again this year.
Beautiful artwork! I cannot remember whether it’s the Anniversary or Tribute Blend that I like most (I know the Thanksgiving Blend is my favorite), so that just means I’ll have to buy a bag to jog my memory. 🙂
I LOVE Anniversary Blend and look forward to it’s arrival every year. This year I was lucky enough to get a sample before it launches. It’s so good. The aged Sumatra makes it so bold and earthy and then there’s always a spiciness to this blend. This year I tasted less spice and more cedar notes. For anyone who likes dark and robust coffee this is a must have. But a word of advice – if you love it stock up because it’s only here for a limited time. Ahh and I forgot to mention the amazing artwork – absolutely magical. If only Starbucks would sell the artwork as prints that can be framed 🙁
Love love love Anniversary and bought some this morning at my local Manchester/South Windsor CT store. Wonder if Anniversary blend is only made of aged Sumatra? OR if there are other beans thrown in to make the blend? Does anyone know?
Like others, I too love Thanksgiving and Tribute. What ever happened to Three Regions??? I think it hasn’t been around for possibly 2 years now.
@Lynn –
Anniversary Blend is definitely a multi-region blend. There are very few blends that use Aged Sumatra. The other biggie is Christmas Blend. Those 2 blends have a lot in common. I think that Anniversary Blend tends to be even a little bigger in flavor than Christmas. I was doing research one time for a book about Starbucks and talked to someone who worked at the headquarters at the time that Anniversary Blend was created in 1996. She said that Starbucks wanted to make a coffee “as distinctive as a Bordeaux wine!”
Thanksgiving Blend is two coffees roasted together: Sumatra and Guatemala Antigua. (That’s not aged Sumatra in that one).
Tribute has Aged Sumatra too – also a great blend!!
