Something new has landed at Teavana. They are Matcha Singles, which are ready-to-go packets for instant hot or cold Teavana Matcha drinks. Enjoy them hot or cold, with water, or with frothed milk as a latte.
The Matcha Singles come in 3 flavors:
- Chai Matcha Singles
- Peach Matcha Singles
- Imperial Matcha Singles (unflavored Matcha)
I dropped by the University Village Teavana tea bar and had a lot of fun sampling these new instant Matcha sticks. Some of my readers might be familiar with Starbucks Via Coffee. Conceptually, these are the same idea.
The Chai Matcha and Peach Matcha singles are lightly sweetened with a little added sugar.
Teavana partner Joe demonstrated the Breville Cafe Milk Frother to make the matcha samples. I have to say the Breville milk frother was pretty easy to use. Just measure out 8 ounces of water (or milk), put inside the container, and press a button and you’ll get absolutely perfectly heated water or milk (and perfectly frothed too with nice foam, assuming you’re using milk).
Joe said that the Peach Matcha version has been so popular that the store was completely out, except for a store sample packet, which is what we used. I enjoyed the Chai Matcha Singles so much that I bought a box of them. I really wanted the Breville Milk Frother – it has a disk inside that circulates the milk so that it doesn’t scald and the milk gets evenly and perfectly heated. It turns off automatically when the milk is the right temperature. I still might go back and get the milk frother eventually. You can use it to make hot chocolate, milk for lattes, matcha lattes, or add standard apple cider from the grocery to make perfect apple cider. I think you could possibly heat tomato soup in the Breville milk heater and frother! (There are two disc options, and one does not froth the liquid in the container).
If you like matcha, I think you’ll like the instant Matcha singles. I want to try the peach matcha single in an iced drink, shaken vigorously!
Thank you Joe at University Village Teavana for demonstrating and sample the new Matcha singles for me!
Much appreciated!

I definitely want to try this. I’m sure that Breville frother is very nice. I might suggest to any one who is interested in a frother in a lower price point Keurig makes a very nice one at $69. I’ve got one, and it warms and frothed to a beautiful foam. (Got to admit I would love to have the Breville, too.)
How does the chai compare to either the Classic Chai or the Oprah Chai lattes at Starbucks?
