Starbucks has now partnered with ArtLifting.com, an organization supporting artists living with disabilities and homelessness. The limited-edition Starbucks Cards were designed by 11 artists who created one-of-a-kind, multi-colored paintings and drawings using the Do-It-Yourself Starbucks kits now found inside Starbucks stores. The cards are preloaded with $100 and available to purchase while supplies last starting November 30, 2016, at Artlifting.com. Through the Starbucks collaboration, 100% of the purchase price of each Starbucks Card will go directly to the artist. Starbucks will also contribute $100,000 to Artlifting’s 1% fund to help strengthen art services. In other words, ArtLifting.com funds local art for a community’s down-on-their-luck or people in-need.
Artlifting began in 2013. Their normal practice is that every artist earns 55% from the sale of their work. 1% from each sale go toward strengthening art services for community partners that support ArtLifting artists, which includes art programming at social service agencies, shelters, and disability centers. ArtLifting uses the remaining 44% to further their mission.
Hope you pick up one of these amazing cards as a gift for yourself or someone else! I can’t decide which one I want!
The artists drew on blank cards, using their own paint and supplies. You can see how this was done in this video featuring Artlifting.com artist Scott Benner.
