Starbucks is puttin’ on the Ritz with the new Tuxedo mocha! Raise a glass to 2017 in your finest spats and white collars, and cheer on the Tuxedo Mocha, meant for chocolate lovers everywhere.
*Puttin’ on the Ritz music starts* If you’re blue and you don’t know where to go to, why don’t you go to Starbucks? Puttin’ on the Ritz. Different Mochas to try each day: Tuxedo Mocha with stripes, and Frappuccino perfect sips. Puttin’ on the Ritz. * End music*
Okay so maybe a Tuxedo Mocha isn’t a reason to sing 80’s era hits loudly. I was just being silly with the old hit song.
Here’s your Tuxedo Trio:
The Tuxedo Mocha starts with hot espresso poured over mocha sauce and white chocolate mocha sauce, melted into a wonderfully rich concoction. Steamed milk is added to the mix to balance the richness into a silky swirl of dark and white chocolatey goodness. The beverage is topped with whipped cream and mocha drizzle (on half of the whipped cream for a black and white tuxedo effect!), and is finished with a sprinkle of dark chocolate curls. The Tuxedo Mocha can also be ordered iced.
The Tuxedo Mocha Frappuccino is a combination of mocha sauce and white chocolate mocha sauce, Frappuccino® roast coffee, milk and ice blended together and topped with whipped cream and mocha drizzle (on half of the whipped cream for a black and white tuxedo effect!). This Frappuccino is finished with a sprinkle of dark chocolate curls.
The Tuxedo Hot Chocolate starts with mocha sauce and white chocolate mocha sauce combined with steamed milk to create a silky swirl of dark and white chocolatey goodness. It’s topped with whipped cream and mocha drizzle (on half of the whipped cream for a black and white tuxedo effect!), and is finished with a sprinkle of dark chocolate curls.
Let me know what you think of these new creations!

This has been a favorite for years! I’m glad they finally made it a thing, and we get to keep the chocolate curls 🙂
@Elisabeth B – I don’t think I’ve ever tried it. Sounds fun! Thank you for the comment and the encouragement to try the new drink!
Basically a Black & White with curls? Or reminiscent of the Marble Mocha Macchiato — still one of my favorite drinks ever because I like the mix of White Mocha and regular Mocha. This is a good option for people who think White Mocha is too sweet on its own, and regular Mocha is too bitter on it’s own!
Some of my family members and I got these drinks yesterday. Rather disappointed since they didn’t put any chocolate on half the whip of the Frappuccino. And the taste of the latte or the Frappuccino wasn’t much different than a regular mocha. Maybe just too many new things for the baristas to handle at holiday time. But we actually wouldn’t have made the trip to Starbucks yesterday except that the tuxedo drinks info came up in email so thought it might be fun.
These have been so so so popular at my store! Kudos to Starbucks for releasing this drink!
I tried the hot Tuxedo Mocha yesterday and was very disappointed. The whipped cream didn’t have mocha drizzle OR chocolate shavings. And the drink didn’t have a rich taste overall, until I hit the bottom of the cup…almost as if the espresso/milk had not mixed well with the dark/white mocha sauce. I was very excited to see the new offering…but won’t be trying another. Kudos to Starbucks for trying a new product, though…a fun idea!
