The story of one Starbucks partner’s wedding dream:
One of my regular blog readers (Anne) recently emailed me, asking for help with a quest to get a Starbucks partner a dream wedding: The partner who wrote me is a Starbucks store manager in Laguna Niguel, California, and one of her shift supervisors (Sarah H.) is trying to win a dream wedding from Your Wedding Day California magazine.
Sarah has been a partner for over two years, and is a student at Cal State Long Beach also. She lives in Dana Point, California with her fiance Michiel, who teaches sailing at the Dana Point harbor. I think it would be absolutely wonderful if we could give her the dream wedding that she wants. There is more about the wedding contest here. The contest is currently in its first round, and every couple is trying to get as many votes as possible before January 3, 2012. The top 5 couples with the most votes enter a final round. You can vote more than once! Each computer can vote up to 999 times.
To vote for Sarah and Michiel, click through this link here, and scroll down to their profile – it’s about half way down the page. Here’s that link again: http://www.californiaweddingday.com/component/jvotesystem/box/1-say-i-do-wedding
I think that in order to get Sarah and Michiel enough votes, we’re really going to have to spread the word! Please share this via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, or your favorite social media. There is a lot of competition!
Please vote for shift supervisor Sarah and her fiance Michiel. Starbucks partners do a lot to put a smile on customers’ faces, maybe we can put a huge smile on Sarah’s. 🙂

i voted. i love Sbux peeps.
That is sweet! And every young couple should have a beautiful moment to remember forever. I’m voting!!
I’m all about dream weddings!! Just re-tweeted and heading over to vote!! Good luck Sarah & Michiel!!!
I would say please vote, but I’m sure if you’re reading this blog you’ll have voted. Though I will wish Anne a happy marriage. Good times and bad. Love is forever and marriage is the pontification of love.
I’m commuting right now but when I get home I will vote for them to the limit! I love how social media conbects people 🙂 Thank you for sharing this! I’m glad that you did 😀
Voting away! Good luck to the young couple!
Voted! I hope we can make their dream come true!
Voted! Hope we can make their dream come true!
Thank you everyone who voted!! I hope we find out in one week that she’s in the top 5!
Wow! The votes are already rolling in! Update on Sarah and Michiel…they just returned from a much needed break from school, camping in Mexico for a few days. I asked how they spent their time…Michiel surfed a lot and Sarah did yoga on the beach with a seal. They were so excited to come home and find that they have you on their campaign! Keep voitng, Anne
Okay, voted.
However, it is not the wedding that makes the marriage. My wife made her dress, I baked the cake, two of our friends stood up for us, and a Justice of the Peace married us. I was a dirt poor sailor and all we had fit in both our cars. We are still together after 36 years and still going strong. Times have been bad (worse too) and great, but the constant is our love and dedication to each other.
I wish Sarah and Michiel the best. Be true to yourselves and each other.
Can’t wait to see the results!
I love what you shared with us DadCooks 🙂
Thank you Darkkatpouncing.
Hope they will win! Vote from SBUX-Russia
Voted and wish them the best. We had a medium sized wedding and I wouldn’t change it for the world. The one thing I wanted was to be able to share our special moment with our closest friends and family. The details were frivolous. Hopefully they find a truly special way to commit their love for one another.
Thank you to everyone who voted and took the time to leave a comment. I hope the young couple well and success too!
DadCooks – Thanks for sharing your own wedding story. You must be a fabulous baker! People still do have ‘justice of the peace’ weddings all the time. I work in a municipal court, and the weddings are squeezed in at the end of the day after the calendars, as far as I can see. Often, as I am leaving court, I’ll see a girl in a fancy dress in the hallway, and a man wearing the best clothes he has, and I am reminded that the same judges who just conducted pre-trial hearings are going to next do weddings. It must happen at least three or four times a month that someone gets married in municipal court.
Melody, did you notice the little vote ticker at the top of the page? I just saw it today. It let’s you know how many times you voted. I have gotten 50 votes in so far. The Twitter reminder you left helped me remember to vote again today. I’ll try to get even more votes in for them!
Everybody has a dream, I hope that they get theirs.
Great catch Suzanne!! If I can vote 1000 times, I am committed to shooting for at least 10 votes a day!!! I only have 900 more votes, so I better get busy!
@Leslee and SuzanneC – Thanks for the votes for Sarah and Michiel!
I noticed that this story got picked up in the Laguna Niguel local blog/paper too – Here’s a more detailed story about Sarah and Michiel:

GREAT story! Hopefully the added spreading of the word will earn the couple additional votes! I noticed yesterday that each time I enter the voting page it shows I have 999 votes available; even though I have already voted 250+ times! I hope the voting is not a scam and they are actuually counting each vote appropriatly!
Wow! Local interest is sparked…in today’s Laguna Niguel Newspaper which is a subsidy of the OC Register! They are stars! Keep voting…only 5 days left!
Hi! Wow! So I am now able to see all the comments on here and I am truly honored and touched by all the kindness and support that you all have given. Thank you thank you thank you so much! As DadCooks pointed out, it is not the wedding that makes the marriage and even if Michiel and I don’t win, we will be true to each other all of our lives, and also, entering the contest was worth it just to experience this warm fuzzy feeling that you all have created by being so nice! Melody, thank you so much for helping us with this, it is truly appreciated! And thank you so much to everybody who took time out of their lives to vote and so send some positive wishes to Michiel and I – what wonderful beautiful people you all are! Thank you!
Sarah, it was my pleasure to lend a helping hand. I am eager to know if you and Michiel made it to the finals. Please keep us posted!
Hi Mel & Sarah!
Just put in my final 50/day votes!!! Good luck to you and Michiel!!!
tonight is the last night to vote for the first round! Please vote!
@Leslee – Thank you! @Anne – I am voting again now! 🙂
I will definitely keep you posted on results! I am excited to find out too! With all of this incredible support I don’t see how we can’t make it to the second round!
