A regular reader of StarbucksMelody.com emailed me with this photo he took at his store, demonstrating the coffee-grounds “puck” from the Clover when a blonde roast coffee is brewed through the Clover. I thought it was an interesting picture since the coffee grounds distinctly do have a blonde top to them! I don’t think I’ve ever noticed that before. I just wanted to share the photo here – it’s an interesting sight to see, and of course many of my readers are not located near Starbucks Clover brewers so would otherwise miss this. Thank you Patrick for sharing your photo and letting me use it here! No blonde jokes please! 😉
I realize this is very short but I just wanted to pass this along. A picture is worth a thousand words!

Interesting and strange looking photo for sure! BTW one of the SB stores I go to has the most clover sales in the country and because of that they remodeled the clover area and added a second clover! They say they are the only store in the country with two clovers. I see no reason to doubt this because I see many people buying clover drinks, but am curious if any other store has two clovers.
@purple1: there are quite few stores in the US that have 2 Clovers. If you look back in Melody’s reviews, Streets of Woodfield (here, suburban Chicago) has had 2 for ?? more than 2-3 yrs. And then the Park Ridge store that she also reviewed …they’d only been open a short period of time…couple weeks? when she was here? They had to add a 2nd Clover quite quickly…..and their Clover sales were, back in the summer, listed as 2nd in the country. ?? I don’t know about that but I do know there are several Sbux in the Chicago area that have 2 Clovers, and have had for quite a while. I heard of one store about to get its third….but don’t know if that’s happened.
That’s interesting Denise….. I didn’t know Park Ridge was rated #2 this summer. That 2nd Clover was added within day’s of that trip you and Melody made there. I will admit they crank out a lot of coffee on those 2 Clovers at PR. Many people will bypass the PPR drip and have it made on the Clover instead. Since I have been to both Streets and Park Ridge (everyday), Park Ridge cranks out more Clover made coffee than Streets when I have gone to Schaumburg. That is odd considering the size and traffic in and out of Streets. Park Ridge IMHO beats them hands down. Even with that being said, I can’t see Park Ridge getting a 3rd Clover. The way that store is set up, I just don’t see it happening at that location.
As far as a Blonde on a Clover? I disliked the Veranda drip. So I may try the Veranda on the Clover when I try the PPR on the Clover. There’s a better chance that hell may freeze over first. Why waste a cup a coffee, when there are so many better choices to be made, even if it cost more?
Oops! I guess I meant cup of coffee.
@Chgo: It wasn’t Prk Ridge that I heard of getting …or trying to…a third Clover. I did hear from a dm and sm that Prk Ridge was selling that much Clover this past summer. I think because Streets has been around for so much longer, even with their Clovers……people were not as desperate (well? maybe we were….) to have a Clover in that area…… vs the smaller, more densely populated area of P.Ridge……
and, as we both know, Lake & Harlem still needs a couple. (of Clovers!)
@denise – I wasn’t assuming that you were referring to Park Ridge when you mentioned a 3rd Clover. That was purely just an opinion on my part. Interestingly I was at Streets during the Holidays, and from what I’ve seen thus far, there are still more people waiting on the Clover at Park Ridge than at Streets. Will it last? Time will tell. I can only speak for myself, but it looks like I was actually DESPERATE for a Clover – LOL! Agreed (as usual) on the River Forest – Harlem / Lake location as a perfect Starbucks for a Clover.
OT – Are you enjoying the snow? : ( I was hoping we could go all winter without any. No such luck (as it is snowing again at this very moment). Time to get ready for my Blue Java.
(@Chgo: I am LOVING the snow. been right behind my house x-country skiing every day so far. I do really love it, and hope for more….;)
Mmmmm I can’t wait to try Blonde Roast through the clover! Thanks for the picture! <3
Huh. I hadn’t noticed that myself. That’s actually a pretty cool picture. Thanks for posting.
