Every year, many Seattleites make their way to Gas Works Park for a great view of fireworks on July 4th. The fireworks are set off over Lake Union, and the park will be packed with people who watch the show. And then, they leave a mess. Starbucks helps, in part, to sponsor this 4th of July tradition. And then on the 5th of July, Starbucks partners, and many volunteers are needed to help clean up the park. There is coffee available! It’s a great opportunity to give back to Seattle. Come clean up the trash, and mess left behind by the crowd of people who came for the 4th of July event. Your help is needed. There is more information here:
I’m putting a call out for volunteers! Please come help! Many hands make light work. I will be there. Please spread the word! Share on Facebook, or Twitter. Of course, I want lots of people to show up!
And don’t forget, if you want to get more involved in community service, here’s the Starbucks Community Service login – both customers and partners can register and use it!

Sounds like fun -wish we would be there. Do you know if this community site has a better reception/higher usage than the old V2V site?
@CD – I hope there are a lot of volunteers! Wish you could be here. I don’t know how well used the new community site is. To be honest, I suspect site use is fairly low. One lesson I’ve learned is that most people simply don’t click through things. I know that sounds silly, but people come, perhaps read one article, and don’t click links and don’t comment – That describes about 90+% of visitors -and that’s totally normal. Having said that, since someone has to go through the effort of logging in, browsing events, and so on, there will always be a lot of people who look, click away, and maybe think they’ll come back later when they’ve got time. But what it adds up to is that it is a small extra effort in time to invest in the site, and many won’t, meaning possibly low use. Starbucks would really have to do a massive campaign of the new site to get it buzzing with activity.
I plan on being there! Will be a change of pace from cleaning things up here.
