I’m getting a kick out of my new found fun with tea. It’s loose leaf Chai tea that’s been tickling me pink. That, and my new Tazo Tea card:
The new Tazo Tea card comes in 3 colors, and purple is the one that has my name all over it. It’s definitely the prettiest of the three. By the way, if you look at eBay, it’s surprising that these cards are already starting to be sold there. Somehow collectors started snatching them up quickly.
Here’s the skinny:
- You can use your Tazo card as a form of payment in any Starbucks store, any Evolution Fresh store, and at the one Tazo store.
- You can load money onto your Tazo card at any Starbucks, Evolution Fresh store, or at the one Tazo store.
- You will earn a “star” for each swipe with this card at any Starbucks, Evolution Fresh, or Tazo.
- And you can register it at Starbucks.com/card, just like any other Starbucks card.
- It can be used exactly like any other Starbucks card.
Jumping back to tea, as I mentioned, it is loose leaf Chai that I have really been having fun with. The tea looks so pretty, and smells amazing. I always add a little milk and sugar to my tea at home. I’m sure I’m torturing my tea to something that comes as close as possible to coffee. I use way too much in my infuser. And it will never be my morning beverage! Here’s my fun with tea at home:
In case you missed, my article about the grand opening of the Tazo Tea store is here.
It’s been one month since my last giveaway!
Do you want to win one of those awesome Tazo cards? There would be a serious coolness factor to pull a Tazo card out at the register. And, this card actually says on the back that you can use it at Starbucks too!
Here is how you enter to win a $25.00 Tazo Tea card:
- 1. Leave a comment about tea. Anything you want to say about tea. Iced. Hot. Teavana. Tazo. Instant. Loose Leaf. Heavily sweetened. Herbal. However you like your tea. However, no spam comments; No posts to buy or sell items that you own or have a financial interest in. No key words as names; and no non-civil comments.
- 2. One entry per person.
- 3. You must have an address within the United States, Canada, or the U.K.
- 4. Please watch for the winners announcement within 7 – 10 days of the contest close. I’ve learned the lesson where I’ve seen people not reply to my emails telling them they’ve won, and never return to the site. If you don’t contact me within 21 days of winning, your prize is forfeited.
- 5. Leave your comment before December 06, 2012, at 6:00 p.m.
- 6. You must be over 18 years old to enter.
- 7. It’s not required, but I hope you’ll either “subscribe” or “like” this site.
- 8. I suggest you leave a comment using an email address that you really check.
- 9. As always, odds of winning depends on the number of entries. Winners will be drawn at random.
I think many of my readers probably don’t know that Tazo has a partnership with Mercy Corps to help improve the lives of people growing tea. It’s part of the mission to ethically source tea. Now that Tazo Tea has taken a bold step towards center stage in the world of Starbucks brands, I hope to see that partnership developed and strengthened further. Once upon a time, Starbucks offered a Conservation International Starbucks card. Maybe someday we’ll see a Tazo Tea Mercy Corps card? I can support that idea. What do you think?
I can’t wait to read your comments.

I love hot tea, black, green, oolongs. No Rooibos for me and no chai please. Although we already follow each other on G+, I stumbled on this by searching “Tea -party”. I’m always on the look-out for tea news.
As to the Tazo store, wish they had plans to open more. Anyway, following the whole Tazo/Teavana acquisitions with interest, wondering where this might lead.
Love your blog and also love chai tea! it’s my absolute favorite drink it everyday with milk and agave syrup. Thanks for the giveway!
The Dancing of Loose Tea Leaves is like the Dance of Love…. the passion and affection packed into each leaf will slowly affect its surroundings while it performs and composes a masterpiece for the eyes, nose, taste buds, and most of all – the heart.
Nice blog! I’m a fan of chamomile. A local coffee shop near my work has a great mint chamomile blend. When I used to work at Starbucks, I made tea “lattes” with the Tazo chamomile tea, soymilk, and a little vanilla. Delicious!
I will have to try the agave syrup, I have heard of it.
I love chai tea. All teas really.
I hope they keep some of Teavana’s blends in the new Tazo stores. My favorite is the Strawberry Lemonade herbal tea. But I’m also a fan of their Maté teas.
p.s., I wouldn’t mind an empty Tazo card. 😉
I L-O-V-E Tea! It’s the most wonderful time of the year…The Return of Tazo “JOY” Tea. It brings me so much joy I can hardly stand it. (Black with Sugar – Does the trick). 🙂 Nice Blog!
I love to mix refresh and some chamomile with one or two tea spoons of honey. This tea combination is great for an upset stomach, sore throat, hangover, you name it and there’s probably a wonderful benefit. And even I you don’t have any of those symptoms it’s just a great cup of tea.
I love Tazo Green and Calm Tea! Hot with a tea spoon of honey, hits the spot!
I love all teas unsweetened other than Chai with milk and sugar. mmmmm
I know this sounds really weird but it’s delicious. Try putting a Chai tea bag in the pot when brewing coffee. It makes the coffee taste amazing!
For all of the Tazo drinkers – tomorrow (Dec 2) – the 12 Days promotion includes free Tin of Tazo with the purchase of one.
I am a barista that loves tea! I work early morning shifts and tea IS my morning beverage! I have tried most all the teas in the TAZO lineup, but I always come back to the dark side of AWAKE
If I happen to have a morning off, I like to enjoy my own tea ceremony…I grab my favorite 2004 STARBUCKS mug and drop in an AWAKE full-leaf tea sachet. I pour the perfect amount of almond milk into a tiny crystal milk pitcher my mom gave me years ago and set it upon my special coral colored seashell plate with a matching small bowl for the soggy sachet. It is my me time. Remember to celebrate yourself this season so that you can fully enjoy all the holidays around you and create those special moments for others….
I love tea and drink it every day. My new find is rose hip tea and other botanical herbals. My favorite is always a simple cup of nice black tea. I drink tea to keep me healthy and always feel nourished in some way by a cup of tea. I also love Mate lattes with almond milk!!
I absolutely love Tazo’s Passion Tea not sweetened and it can either be hot or cold.
Anyone know if Tazo loose leaf tea (i.e., not in teabags/sachets) is available in Canadian Starbucks? I know they exist, but I’ve only ever seen the teabag type.
It’s so much nicer to steep a pot of tea this way.
I really love sweet tea! Green or Black, but I gotta have that caffeine. When I first started drinking Starbucks as a customer I drank a passion tea lemonade with melon and cinnamon dolce sprinkles. LOL that was a really long time ago!
University finals just around the corner, thank you for TAZO AWAKE, keeps me studying for hours, just wish it came as a loose leaf tea 🙂
Asian tea is the best! (that translates to China green tips at Starbucks/Tazo)
I LOVE Tazo tea. Ever since we bought the iced tea bags on sale at, where else, Starbucks, I look primarily for the Tazo teas.
@CD @Melody @Amazon @AI thanks everyone for your responses! Quite an interesting dialog about Roiboos tea! I found some African Red Bush at my local whole foods! While I’m ok with Vanilla Roiboos, I’m still an even bigger fan of African Red Bush.
You can’t beat Awake over ice with a pump or two of classic during the hot summer months in Arkansas!
I heart most Tazo teas, my true favs are Joy and Chai. Still have yet to make it to the new Tazo store. Hope before xmas! Great blog!

I will announce the winner soon. I have to say, I really did not expect this large of a response to this contest. Usually most of my giveaways top out (at most) at like 80 entries which is a manageable number. I don’t know why this was more popular than most of my giveaways. But I will get the winner announced here soon, and then try to make contact by email too.
Just realized I wrote down CD’s name twice in the above list. He is not being entered in twice.
The winner is … Krista Vicich!
I always do a photo of the winning entry –
http://starbucksmelody.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/IMAG3599-Tazo-Tea-Card-Winner-15-Dec-2012.jpg
By the way, this was my most popular giveaway. Wondering if I should do another like it?
Melody all your blog posts are great regardless of whether you are doing a giveaway, however, you also seem to find such terrific ideas for giveaways so if you want an answer to your question- YES!
@Purple1 – Thank you! I had to wonder on this one whether it was the Tazo card itself (as a collectible definitely) or the $25 that got folks so interested.
I’ve started using Pinterest a lot more, and the shares are good for my site, and so I was thinking that my next giveaway could include sharing content, but even to include something as simple as a re-pin. I’m still thinking this through.Definitely no decision yet! http://pinterest.com/starbucksmelody/
Never been to that site so am not sure how it works. Just looked at the link you gave in your comment. So, cannot comment as to how a giveaway would work but sounds interesting.
Speaking as someone who likes collecting cards, the Tazo Tea Card (even without the $25) was enough for me to want to enter. ^_^
I don’t enjoy the “share/pin” sort of contest, because I try to keep my Facebook as business-like as possible, and I don’t have (don’t want) a Pininterest account. ^_^;
@Ai – I will probably do another contest after the holidays – but personally, I’m still overwhelmed with holiday stuff. I’m trying to get Christmas cards written out today. I’ll hunt down another Tazo card, and offer it again.
And I am open to your ideas for a new contest!! Generally, my goal with the contest is to try to increase comments and/or expose the blog to new people, but I’m very open to ideas. I want to engage my readers, and do things that make them happy.
I would love a Pinterest giveaway. 😉
Melody I have been thinking about suggestions for the type of giveaways you might offer and this option certainly might be time consuming but you have a few favorite SB stores by you so wouldn’t it be nice if you could find some small items from each store that might represent that store and put it together for a giveaway? I know most stores have the standard SB items, but there might be something unique from each store. Anyway, just a thought. Thinking about it further doing a giveaway connected to a particular website might be hard to do because not everyone goes to every website.
Melody,
Enjoyed the article on the grand opening of the Tazo tea store. I was heart warming about the large family being introduced to the world of tea.
