My recently-published book, Tales of the Siren: A StarbucksMelody, is now available to you in the Kindle Lending Library. I don’t know how long I’ll keep it there. As per the Amazon.com agreement, it looks like it must stay in the Lending Library for a minimum of 90 days. I put the book in the Kindle Lending Library because I genuinely want to make it easy for people to have access to it and read it. Kindle users can access the Lending Library if they subscribe to Kindle Unlimited or, I think (I’m almost positive) if you have an Amazon Prime membership, you have access to it. If you’re an avid reader, I think it’s cheaper to use a Kindle to read books than to buy a bunch of paperbacks.
Just wanted to let you know! If you want to read a review of Tales of the Siren, I suggest the Portland Book Review’s review of Tales of the Siren.
Enjoy!

Just wondering, will it ever come out on audio book form ?
@George – Oh that’s a smart question. I hope to do that someday. As an indy author, I’m paying for everything – book promotion and everything. Audible.com offers a great service to convert your book to an audio book but I just haven’t done it yet due to the expense. I really should though.
@Melody, the Portland Book Review article was very good and not just because it was favorable. If anyone is sitting on the fence about buying your book, this should encourage them.
I am a tech nerd geek and your book and blog are the kind of real life experiences I like to read about.
We all need a passion in life. You work hard with your “day job” and you do the same with your Starbucks passion.
Melody, I just started your book in paperback and bought a copy for my friend who introduced me to Starbucks. I am not a coffee drinker so never thought much of Starbucks until my friend unlocked the inner Starbucks fan in me. I am not a gold card member and love almost all of their non-coffee fare. So far I am enjoying the read and congrats on self-publishing. You’ve done a wonderful job.
@DadCooks – Thank you. If you have any form of social media to share this, please do! Thanks.
@JoyceT – That’s wonderful to hear! One of the things I’ve worried just a little bit about is that it seemed to me that the feedback I’ve gotten is that the book resonates more with partners (employees) than customers. I didn’t set out intending that at all – I was hoping it would enjoyable to anyone who is a Starbucks fan. Your story is great. Soon you’ll be a Gold Card holder too. 🙂
Amazon Prime members also get the lending library but:
1) Has to be on an actual Kindle, not a Kindle app (i.e. not on Kindle for iOS or Kindle for Mac or Windows)
2) Can only have one book checked out of the lending library at a time and can only check out one book a month.
3) Available only for primary Prime account – in other words, if I share my Prime account with a family member so that family member can also get free 2 day priority shipping, their account, even though it is “Prime,” only gets the free shipping, they do not get the lending library (or the Prime video or music, etc.)
