Starbucks is doing a “buy one, get one free” promotion November 12th – November 15th! Mark these dates on your calendar.
Go to Starbucks between 2:00 PM and 5:00 PM, and you can buy holiday beverages as buy one get one free! A little over a week ago, I gave you my tips for saving money at Starbucks, and there’s no doubt, using special promotions like this one is a help!
You might have seen receipts already advertising this promotion! You do not need to walk in with a special slip to take advantage of this offer.
Also, if you are a member of My Starbucks Rewards, you get an extra day of the promotion: My Starbucks Rewards members enjoy an extra day on November 16th, from 2:00 PM to close. Just pay with your registered Starbucks card. You do not need have a shiny gold card. Just use any registered Starbucks card as your form of payment.
Every year, there’s a little confusion as to what counts as a “holiday beverage”. You can get these drinks:
Eggnog Latte
Caramel Brulee Latte
Gingerbread Latte
Chestnut Praline Latte
Peppermint Mocha
Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha
I ordered all of these drinks (except the Peppermint White Mocha) at a neighborhood Starbucks. Here’s what you can order. (Peppermint White Chocolate Mocha is not shown).
Just so you know, while the Salted Caramel Mocha and Pumpkin Spice Latte are seasonal drinks, they do not count for this promotion. My recollection from year’s past, is that when Starbucks has done this promotion, it has been for either the hot or cold version of the drink. There’s nothing any where written on the promotion “good cheer” slips printing on receipt paper, that says it’s limited to the hot version of the drink. However, I need to do some more checking into this.
A huge thank you Starbucks Montecito who shared with me their festive “good cheer” receipt slip with a holiday border to it.

Are you certain that the White Peppermint Mocha counts as a holiday drink? I’m sure I ordered one last Christmas thinking it would count as a holiday drink and it did not (for a bonus star holiday drink thing). Or has it just been added this year?
About the second drink, is there an official stance on it having to be identical as the first one?
Because in my experience, it seemed to vary by store. One said that the second could be any drink of equal or lesser value, and another would just flat out say that you had to get two identical drinks.
@Alex – The receipt pictured above just says a ‘holiday drink of lesser or equal value’. I’ve taken advantage of this promo for a couple years and I’m not sure I have ever ordered two of the same drink.
This may be going out on a limb a bit, but I live by myself and don’t have a use or need for a 2nd/free drink, so I’m wondering if there is any accommodation for people like me. Like, could I get 1 drink half price instead? Or get my 2nd drink tomorrow instead of today? I know the answer to both of those is probably no, but just thought I’d ask… Thanks.
TO Mary: The answer would be no; HOWEVER, you could order two Tall (small) drinks and then that would be getting a 24 oz drink. Or order one hot and then a cold without ice and save that for the next day. Or maybe you could pay it forward to someone in line and make their day. Just some ideas to think about. Enjoy!
@JoJo – That’s a good answer. Thank you for helping out!
Thanks! Love your tips for Starbucks. I’m all about maximizing the rewards!
I walked into a store today to purchase a buy-one-get-one after 5 p.m. I initially thought that MSR members got BOGO from 2 p.m. till close everyday, but I actually read it wrong. Just a heads up.
Woohoo it’s here! Just to add to the great tips, the app is REALLY easy to order from right at 2pm and the qualifying second drink is automatically discounted!
Thanks for the heads-up, G! I was wondering about that…and now, I can avoid the long line like the one that was queued up yesterday…and hopefully make things a bit easier on the baristas than I did on the poor frazzled one yesterday, since I managed to mis-speak while trying to hurriedly make my order!
There are at least two tea seasonal drinks that also are included in the bogo. One is the gingerbread tea latte, the other is the chai eggnog latte.
@Becky E – Just yesterday at a Starbucks I was looking at the signage for the Gingerbread Tea Latte – It’s new this year, and yes I completely missed it. You’re right. I am nearly sure that one counts too. I tried it for the first time yesterday. Delicious! I was thinking of writing up something on it quickly. Yes, a chai eggnog latte counts though I think that’s just a modified eggnog latte.
Pro tip: Get two Short sizes for one person.
@Melody, I only mentioned the chai eggnog latte because I saw that it is listed on Starbucks online menu as a seasonal drink under the tea beverages. I’m not a fan of eggnog so am not sure I’d like it but thought someone might. It is interesting that they have the new gingerbread tea latte but there wasn’t any real mention of it other than on the menu. At least that’s how it is here.
