The new Starbucks Rewards program is almost here, starting on April 12th. I can’t wait. I will definitely be earning more stars than before. A Colorado reader used the Submit a Pic form and sent in this pic of new paper cups. My understanding is that the cups are to be used beginning on April 12th, or earlier as a store runs out of cups and replenishes its cup supply. The Colorado reader mentioned that she ordered an Earl Grey tea, and it was double cupped, giving her this perfect pic when she pulled the two cups apart:
I love the new cups! They’re cute! I’d like to have that as a reusable cup!
Have you gotten your Fill Your Cup With Rewards cup yet?

Yes. I will be earning more stars as well. HOWEVER I now have to earn 125 stars not the 12. Meaning I have to spend around 60 before I earn a free beverage. When before I bought three things a day, seperated them and every 4 days got a free item only spending 10 dollars a day.
D: Well, can’t complain as you are getting something _REWARD. Sometimes we get used to “rewards” in life and take them for granted. As if, we are ENTITLED to keep on getting what is a FREE benefit.
Starbucks could have never had the rewards program in the first place. I agree it essentially is costing more to “earn” a freebie. I visit SB regulary throughout a week and too, put in separate orders for gaining more stars. It is what it is and certainly I am and probably many others are not going to change how much they spend to ‘earn’ a freebie. It will just take longer to get one. I assume (ASS-UME) 🙂 Starbucks is doing this for less “bleed out” from earnings. So.! 🙂
I’ll be earning more stars… but almost exclusively on home-brew. I will buy Reserve beans on my double star day (probably 3 bags). $40 worth of beans = 160 stars. And a much smarter way to spend $40 on double star day than eight $5 liquid candies (hot or frozen…) which I couldn’t finish in one day anyway.
Those little cups are cute! I’ll earn less stars than before, but that’s okay, I’ll enjoy the gold status for as long as I have it. 🙂
I’m unenthusiastic about the changes to the rewards program. I regularly choose Starbucks over similar priced boutique coffee shops because of the stars program- but now that i will have to spend a ton more money to earn a free drink (i just get drip coffee) i will likely choose the other coffee shop where i get a punch card and will earn a free drink for every ten.
If a small independently owned shop can offer this to their customers i think it’s crappy that starbucks no longer will.
Personally, I can’t wait for the new program. I often find myself spending $15.00 – $20.00 or more on just lunch there. This isn’t an every day occurrence, but, I do visit Starbucks at least once per day. I am a huge fan, and think that Howard Schultz makes a ton of really awesome decisions. He’s certainly an innovator in the world of coffee!
As well, I really can’t wait for the Chase Starbucks (will it be a Visa?) card!
Free Starbucks for getting gas, groceries, and whatever other things I buy?!! It couldn’t come sooner!
I love the new cups!! Not every store has the cups in use yet in the los Angeles area but sure soon enough. I am looking forward to the new reward system as well that starts the 12th. I am very curious to see if indeed we will see more rewards. I am also extremely looking forward to the prepaid visa as well. I will definitely put my weekly gas on it to get stars.
Optimally you want to have 11 stars on your account at the end of the day today so that you start tomorrow with 121 of the new stars. If you have 12 you’d start tomorrow with 0 stars but a reward…
I had 11 stars yesterday. Today I have zero.
@Wigmore – Nobody lost stars. I had to uninstall the app and re-install it to get the updated app version. It worked fine and I saw all my stars once I re-installed it. I recommend you do the same!
Has anyone gotten a star dash challenge. I did not receive the offer but my mother’s account did. If 8 days in a row between April 14 and April 21, 80 bonus stars will be given. 60 bonus for 6 days and 40 for 4 days. W
