The summer edition of Starbucks for Life game is here. It starts August 2, 2016, and ends on September 12, 2016. Like previous versions of Starbucks for Life game, you’re playing game pieces in hopes of winning bonus stars, prizes, and “Starbucks for Life” as the grand prize!
If you win the grand prize of Starbucks for Life, you win a free food or drink (excluding beer and wine and Evenings menu items) from Starbucks once per day, every day, for 30 years!
To play Starbucks for Life, you need to have a registered Starbucks card. Visit this link here:
You can earn up to a maximum of four ‘plays’ per day. There are two different ways to collect game pieces. First, you can go to the Starbucks for Life website and request free game pieces. Secondly, you can earn up to four game plays from purchases in the store, but keep in mind you can only use a maximum of 2 transactions in the store to earn a total of four game plays. If your transaction in Starbucks is more than $10.00, you earn 2 Starbucks for Life plays. The extra play for spending over $10 in your transaction is considered a ‘bonus’ play. If you have any transaction less than $10 it’s only worth one game play.
The way you get 4 game plays in a day essentially boils down to this:
- Earn 4 game plays by following the Starbucks for Life link and follow the instruction for free game pieces. You’ll fill out a registration form and then wait for Starbucks to email you a special link for you to get your free game piece. You would have to go through this process 4 times to get 4 free game plays.
- Earn 2 game pieces in the store with two normal purchase (that is, the total is less than $10 per transaction) and request 2 free game pieces.
- Earn 1 game piece in the store, and request 3 free game pieces.
- Earn 4 game pieces in the stores with two transactions over $10 each.
- Or any combination of free game pieces and game pieces from purchases!
Five lucky Starbucks customers will win Starbucks for Life. Starbucks employees and their immediate household members or spouses are not eligible to play. Starbucks for Life is open to customers in the U.S. or Canada.
Exclusive prizes:
· Thirty customers (25 in the U.S. and 5 in Canada) will win Starbucks for a Year
· 150 customers (125 in the U.S. and 25 in Canada) will win Starbucks for a Month
· 550 customers (500 in the U.S. and 50 in Canada) will win Starbucks for a Week.
· In addition, instant-win Bonus Stars in increments of 125, 25, 10 and 5 Stars will be awarded.
People really do win at Starbucks for Life! Last year, one of my readers won Starbucks for a Month!
Have fun playing Starbucks for Life!

How fun!! And I love the swirling pink drink on the game page!!
Yay!!! I had no idea! Thanks, Melody 🙂
Thank you — especially for the info about how to get so many free game plays — last year you could only get one, period. I just got 25 bonus stars and three game pieces!
thank you for the reminder, melody.
Very impressed by the workings of this promo so far. I got a 25 star reward, the email came within 15 minutes, and once I entered the star code, the 25 stars were loaded on my account virtually immediately.
Secondly, the requests for extra entries were emailed to my account within 5 minutes, allowing me to gather 3 game pieces in no time. Last holiday, the non-purchase entries were sometimes not honored, star code emails were very untimely, and the overall experience was horrible. Very well done Starbucks!!
How do you request free plays? I didn’t get an email with a link when I signed up, and I don’t see anyplace on the site to ask for one.
Does anyone know what the rare game pieces are??
Can someone accumulate more than 4 plays in one day but only redeem 4 in one day, saving the others to redeem the next day?
It looks like the rare pieces are:
Starbucks for Life – the coconut
Starbucks for a Year – the jar
Starbucks for a Month – the boom box
Starbucks for a Week – the cooler
I havent received redemption codes for any of the stars I earned or emails about the free plays. Is this happening to anyone else?
@Jeff – if you sign into the game and scroll down the the bottom where the tiny print is, it says: “**NO PURCHASE NECESSARY. A purchase of any kind will not increase your chances of winning. To enter without making a purchase, click here.”
My wife received the emails on her account but in my account it worked on the first day (then the site went down for a few hours) and now I can’t receive the emails on my account. I even tried changing my email address linked to my account to be sure it wasn’t going into a spam folder.
Today, I got all 4 game request emails but when I click to play it says I have 0 plays. I tried all 4 and I didn’t get to play at all. I already have all of the common pieces and have won a set of 10 stars but that was not today.
Glad to hear some are receiving their game plays. I’very only received. 1, yes, just one game play, since i’very earned 18 confirmed plays people becoming to me within the 48hrs. I contacted SB and they said they are having some problems and to contact Hello World, which I did. Hello world, just said to make sure my email was connected to Starbucks, etc…
I contacted, again, Starbucks and finally was able to speak to a Mgr. They know there are issues with the game and told me they are escalating the issue. So, we shall see.
Byelk the way, does anyone know all of the people who won Starbucks for life 2015??? I am aware of only one man who won, but have not been ablevaluated to find out who the other winners are.
Thanks Melody for a great fun site for those of us who are Starbucks fans.
Won 10 stars, never received them.
I too was told by hello world to make sure the email address in my account is up to date. I responded back saying that I’ve now tried two addresses with no luck (except on the first day when it worked)… They haven’t responded yet.
ERIC – Did you answer the skill testing question from the winning email?
There are HUGE problems with this contest. As was the case with the Starbucks for life, last December 2015. the same company “Hello World” is managing this contest, as did the previous one. The issues I am having is that when I make a purchase the play comes through right away. when I fill out and earn “A play is coming your way” the plays have never come. That is, until I contacted Hello World, which they just gave me a run around and then I contacted SSC and got a case # and have been having to contact SSC and received plays I had not received prior to contacting SSC. However, i am at another point where I not received, again, several plays I should have by now. So, I am going through the same channels in order to obtain the plays due to me. There are numerous people having problems with this game.
As Melody lined out in her article, the rules, Hello World needs to play by the rules, if you will, as well.
Does anyone know who the major winners were from the last contest. None of the people at SSC, nor my few buddies that work at Starbuck’s stores, know either.
If any of you out there know the people who won Starbucks for Life and the the Year, last contest, it would be great to know.
In the meantime, enjoying “javalating” at my local SB.
@Christine – there is a link at the bottom of the official rules page where the winners will be posted.
Here are the lists for the Christmas contest:

Canadian winners: http://winlists.helloworld.com/233838_CA.pdf
No way the cooler and boom box were the rare pieces for the Starbucks for a week and year… I got more than a few of each. I ended up with only 5 stars… Maybe they are less generous to us Canadians (and maybe we have different rare game pieces too)?
@Christine The US & Canada *did* have different rare pieces for week and day. ‘Little Boom’ and ‘Cold Brew Cooler’ for the US versus ‘Swim Kitten’ and ‘Grande Toss’ for Canada.
