Located in the heart of Seattle’s shopping core, Pacific Place Starbucks is a Clover store with a great interior. Today (June 5, 2011) I did a little bit of quick shopping at in the afternoon, and afterward I dropped by the Pacific Place Starbucks. Much to my surprise, it was incredibly slow. I’ve been in this store many times, and I know it can get busy. This evening the store was very slow. And during the time that I was there, the store emptied out even more. I took advantage of this rare opportunity to take photos of the store. The last time I mentioned this store on this blog was a 2009 article called, “Your Guide to Downtown Seattle Clover Starbucks.”
If you’re visiting downtown and want to go shopping, Pacific Place is sort of the epicenter of the Seattle shopping experience. You can find everything from Johnny Rockets, to Ann Taylor to J. Crew. The address of this Starbucks is as follows:
Starbucks store #3261
600 Pine Street
Seattle, WA 98101
(206) 264 1607
Even though the address is on Pine Street, the front doors to this store are actually on Sixth Avenue, immediately across the street from the Sixth Avenue side door entrance to Nordstrom.
This store’s original grand opening (long before the Clover and a remodel) was October 28, 1998. The store has obviously been through a lot of changes since then! It’s a solid store to visit. I don’t usually say this about stores … I might regret writing this … but this is sort of what I would call an “improving” store. I’ve been working downtown for a number of years, and this store really caught my radar when it added the Clover brewer in 2009. I remember a couple of times, eons ago, walking in and feeling like it was sort of a lifeless store. I mean that it didn’t seem all that friendly. It has always covered the basics, yet didn’t have that spark that makes a store a third place. Over the past six months to one year, it seems like every time I go in, the store is getting better and better. My own experiences there have consistently been increasingly positive. I can recall one time recently dropping by at the height of a morning rush, and partners were really giving it their all to make sure that nobody waited too long, and that it was still a great experience. On that morning, my breakfast sandwich was only slightly delayed, and the register barista offered me a recovery coupon – and addressed me as “ma’am!” She didn’t know that I have a blog. I didn’t recognize her either.
On a slight change of topic, some of my readers might be familiar with Winter, who is on a life-long journey to visit every single company-operated Starbucks in the world. I’m not that ambitious. Not even close. Nonetheless, I realize that I am a smaller adventure to visit as many Clover Starbucks (in the United States) as possible. That means I need to get to about 200 Starbucks across the United States. I don’t know if I ever will really do that, but you will see me continuously highlight Clover stores. In addition, at some point I will write a review on every single Clover Starbucks in Seattle. This Clover Starbucks link includes embedded links to my Clover Starbucks store reviews which includes Starbucks stores in California, one in Portland, in Seattle, and in the Chicago area. I guess I’m at 10 down, about 190 to go.
Hope you enjoy the photos of this store!

What an extremely cozy store…wow!
I juast love this wooden Starbucks logo at the wall which gives great comfort to the store.
A nice store to relax after busy shopping…
Thank you for the photos!
Melody what a great idea to visit clover stores. So, besides the other Seattle stores where else are you planning to travel? This store is just beautiful and I agree it is so welcoming to the customer. I wish my local SB had this feel of comfort. Thanks.
I agree, very cozy looking store. I especially like the little sitting area…looks almost like a ‘living rm’. very comfy. I know of 3 stores I’ve been in recently, around here, where they have these comfy seating arrangements that look like almost a separate room.
I also like the wooden logo….altho I do love the bright green neon ones, too.
Thanx for another store visit Melody!
It’s a lovely store. I hope you make it to all 200 Clovers Melody. I would love to see them all through your pictures.
I am actually closer to a Clover store than I think I ever have been. It’s about 45 minutes to an hour from where I am now. Though my friends do not drink coffee.
I am hoping to learn the Starbucks that are closer to me and hope that they are positive experiences.
1. it still thinks i am offline 😛
2. i was totally just in this store the other day, and i *think* i posted a photo of that very same wall to twitter 🙂
Beautiful store, Melody! I love the wood texture…which I notice our Clover store in Tokyo has, too. I wonder if it’s a Clover design to use all that wood?
You’ve got a big goal ahead of you…so many stores to visit! But I’m looking forward to each and every one of them 😀
I just wish that Starbucks would take pity and put a Clover machine in at at least one of our Starbucks here in Syracuse. Sigh…
Very nice store indeed, looks exclusive, very much like a fine restaurant. So many merchandise too, love that part very much!… =)
The big brown logo is great. So great.
Nordstrom users can get coffee fix here. Also 400 Pine Street and 515 Pine Street.
It is two years ago that I visited this store. I want to visit this store again. Thank you for sweet photos!
I’ll have to drop in next time I make the trek to Pacific Place.
Good see that they at least have a sign to promote the Clover there. It is amazing how little promotion they do of the one here in Miami. Looks like a great shop with plenty of tables to sit.
@ Melody and Denise – Sometime between Thursday and Friday morning, a second Clover machine had been added at the Park Ridge Il. store that you visited and wrote about. After speaking to one of the barista’s, having this second machine is a welcome site to see.
@Chgo: thanx for the info..I haven’t been there since this happened but that’s great news!!! (build a Clover and they will come) There really are quite a few stores we can think of that can EASILY support a Clover. I think Sbux miscalculates on who can and cannot support one. (Harlem & Lake = ideal!)
@ Denise – I have been going every weekend and noticed there are quite a few people waiting for coffee on the Clover. People seem to even enjoy Pikes Place on ii n place of a drip. So this second one could speed things up. I stopped in early on Thurs. & Fri. mornings on the way to OHare (work) – and noticed they just added a second one. That’s great! I’m hoping in time we will see more Clover machines once more people are able to experience them. I was happy that I was able to get my decaf (Verona) yesterday without dealing with Pikes decaf. I love choice.
I believe my local SB would support a clover although the store is not that big, but it can get busy. I once asked the SM about that and he did not feel corporate would think this store would do well with a clover. Is it totally based on sales which store gets a clover?
I tried to redirect this conversation back to the Park Ridge thread but too late now. Chgo. there is no “s” – It is Pike Place or Pike. 😉 My understanding is that getting a Clover is based on total sales, drip coffee sales, whole bean sales, and customer satisfaction, as well as the logistical considerations of where to put the Clover.
It is actually hard to support a Clover. There have definitely been stores that got a Clover and then got it pulled from them. I think that has happened a couple of times in Massachusetts.
Well I asked this morning if they were supposed to get the second Clover all along! The Manager told me “NO!”, but in this short period of time, he said they earned it. So there you go. The Park Ridge store must be kicking some tail in earnings. I never seen it so busy. Good for them. I’m running into all kind of people from other locations running to the Clover in Park Ridge to escape the French / Italian Roast at all the other stores.
ps: Mel – if you refer to Pike Place without using the “Place”, wouldn’t it be proper to refer to it as Pikes and not Pike, depending on how you use it in a sentence? You are correct that it is Pike Place. I usually refer to it as just Pikes. It doesn’t sound right saying “I got a Venti Pike today!” It sounds more proper saying “I got a Venti Pikes today!” I’m just so used to to referring to it that way, but you are correct with the name. Hey… Chicago has it’s own dialect like Boston (speaking of Massachusetts). Sometimes we ask for dem and doe’s instead of them and those. LOL!
@Chgo – It sounds right to most people to add an “s” but that’s not the English rule for proper nouns (with limited exceptions). It’s just the poor English that 99% of Americans use. Most people will say that they went shopping at Nordstroms. Not correct to add an “s.” The easiest way to think of it is that you wouldn’t say, “I brought home some Gold’s Coast.” Not correct. I like grammar, but I know that nobody cares about it anymore, and everything is okay nowadays. Adverbs are kind of dying too, but that’s another story.
Ahhh! Considering I’m from Chicago, I know without a doubt, it is Gold Coast, never to be confused with calling it Golds Coast. As far as referring to Pike as Pikes, more bad grammar – “My Bad!” I used to be a stickler for proper grammar, but it seems the rules have gone out the window, along with people saying “UHHH!” after every other word (incl. politicians). Most people spell like they text today. Anyhow…. Keep up the good work Melody! If I don’t chime in between now and Monday, enjoy your 4th of July weekend. ; )
ie: the added ‘s’ issue. One can clearly see it with PPR vs Gold coast. However, as you wrote, most people do say they went to NordstromS, which I understand is a family name. Marshall Field, who founded the store called (and referred to in writing) ‘Marshall Field’s”. It has always been called and written as “Field’s”. Yet his name was Marshall Field. ???
likely I will regret putting these wonderings to paper…..;)
😀 ELLY you WERE at that Starbucks not too long ago – WITH ME! And @scearley 😉 That was the 1st time I had been in there and I love love LOVE that large wooden starbucks logo on the wall! The service was great and very quick. The thing I remembered most was being very comfy there and that it had both soft chair sitting as well as ample table/bench sitting along with more regular type tables and chairs. A very warm and cozy feel. I’d actually love to go back for some knitting/crafting and coffee. The large tables are a nice set up for it. I felt bouncy to see you did a review of this one Melody! It made me smile remembering my own visit 😀
