Let me just say that I never went out of my way to try and collect Starbucks city mugs. It just happened. I have a very small collection of them. Too small to even be called a “collection”. However, I know these mugs are a big deal to many folks and that lots of people collect them. So here is the story of my city mug collection:
**Pike Place Market – I bought this mug at the store at 1912 Pike Place, in Seattle’s Pike Place Market. Because I still like the original store, I thought I should have this mug. I have found myself visiting this store increasingly less often because close by is another great Starbucks on the corner of First and Pike Street. (Please note that Pike Place and Pike Street are different streets, running opposite directions). I need to get back to 1912 Pike Place soon. It is still a Starbucks with a La Marzocco espresso machine. Every drink is handcrafted just for you.
**Boston – Last summer, I took a trip to Boston to visit my sister in that area. I figured that since I was in Boston, I might as well buy a mug. I grabbed a city mug.
**Portland – In November last year I drove to Tigard, Oregon to do a store review for this blog. Click here for the store review. I was just outside of the city of Portland, in Tigard, and figured since I had driven that far, I might as well pick up a mug.
**Vancouver – I was at one of my favorite Starbucks at First and Pike Street in downtown Seattle and I saw this mug. I had actually made a trip into the store knowing that it would be a wonderful place to take pictures of sparkly donuts because of its beautiful store design, and the store has really lovely for-here ware. My previous blog episode on the mini sparkle donut is here. This unique store sometimes receives unusual merchandising because it is dubbed the “heritage” store design, and it is still considered one of the Starbucks showcase design stores.
I was at First and Pike, saw the Vancouver mug and thought, ‘where have I seen that bridge before?‘ Then I remembered the Via Ready Brew road trip episode with Brad Nelson walking over a suspension bridge in Vancouver, Canada! I asked a barista about the merchandising and was told their store received a very limited number of exclusive items for Canada because of the Olympics. If you would like to watch Brad Nelson walk over the Capilano suspension bridge in Vancouver, click here. For those readers who do not know, Brad Nelson’s claim to fame is that he is the official voice of the Starbucks twitter profile. Who knows, he may be famous for other things, but that I wouldn’t know! Notice that in the YouTube video, Brad is using a Starbucks Vancouver city mug to drink his Via Ready Brew.
**Seattle – I bought the Seattle mug at the same time as the Vancouver mug. I figured why buy just one mug?
**Ohio, Dallas, Houston – All of these mugs were unexpected wonderful surprise gifts to me. As at times I have given coffee away to people, or connected with other Starbucks enthusiasts through social media, and at times I have been surprised by an unexpected package or gift of a city mug. I’m touched by thoughtfulness of the people around me. You see, this is part of the beauty of Starbucks: It has this odd power to connect people with really big hearts.
For the Ohio mug, I have been told that the boat featured on the mug is this riverboat featured here: http://www.bbriverboats.com/
Anyone else here collecting these mugs, and if so, which is your prize mug?
This is also an open thread. I welcome any Starbucks related conversation in the comments.
Thank you again to Larry of Seattle Custom Framing for his assistance with the photography in this blog entry.

I’m looking for a Cozumel and Prague starbucks mugs. Anyone know where I can get my hands on one other than travelling to those places (again)? Perhaps someone has one to trade or sell to me.
I’ve got Edinburgh and Koln mugs at home and in work I have a 2010 version of the Pike Place mug. At work I like the big mugs as it gives you a nice big cup of tea, in case I or whoever was making the tea breaks the Pike Place mug I bought a second (at the same time on eBay) as a standby!
Add Aruba to the list of mugs I’m looking for. Anyone have to sell or trade?
Thanks.
I am looking for a Florida or Orlando mug. Is there such a thing?
Debbie, there’s a FL one. I don’t live near Orlando, but that’s a pretty tourist-y area, so they may.
They do have an Orlando mug. I live here and see them at all the locations I visit. If you would like one, drop me an e-mail. I would be happy to pick one up for you!
Does the Orlando mug actually say “Orlando” on it? If so, I’m looking for one as well.
I have a florida mug. It’s pretty cute. I don’t have the one from Seattle, but it’s the architectual kind.
I actually met my fiancée at a Starbucks in NJ and we are quite the Starbucks coffee consumer, at least I am, I wanted to start a collection of my own to pay homage to our meeting place (quite the romantic). We do tend to travel quite a bit but since this is a recent collection I only have the New York City mug. I was wondering if there is a website that might have them for sale the Starbucks website doesn’t seem to have any related to the city mugs.
Hi Juliet! Welcome to the blog! It seems that a number of people have found this particular thread in their search for specific Starbucks mugs. It’s a shame that more people aren’t coming back to check it. Seems like there might be opportunities to connect here. All I can suggest is that people leave an email address using the format Melody [at] StarbucksMelody . com – And then hopefully others who have mugs for sale will contact those who are buying mugs. I think there are more comments in the first page about people wanting to buy/sell these mugs.
Hope you poke around the blog and enjoy some of the other articles. I have a Facebook fan page too that you can “like”.
Thanks! Melody

My first mug was from D.C. in 2002, unfortunately, it was broken. I have the Chicago from 2003, Indy from two years ago and New York and Detroit purchased in 2010 and yesterday, respectively. Can any of these be purchased outside of a Starbucks store? Does Michigan have its own mug?
I have a starbucks mug from JORDAN….its also my youngest sons name
LOVE this…
I inadvertently started collecting with my trip to Paris for my 40th birthday. I live in NYC….so my hubby bought that one for me…and then we started trading them back and forth –
Now I have 3 from my trip to Asia last year…. Hong Kong, Boracay, and Taygaytay (Philippines).
I’m mad at myself for buying “California” instead of Las Angeles last year….
OH WELL….
I really LOVE them…
it’s a fun collection.
Hi! I started collecting Starbucks City Mugs only about six months ago. My family and I love to travel and kind of regret not having thought of this hobby sooner! 🙂
@Amylynn, I would love to buy some of your Dad’s mugs. Please send me some photos via email: fotografikas [at] gmail dot com.
@Buxfan101, we were in Orlando this past December and I completely forgot to grab an Orlando SBUX City Mug. Could you email me and let me know if you would be willing to pick one up for me? Thanks heaps.
And there was me thinking I was the only sad person!
Just recently started after a visit to Atlanta, so I only have four so far:
Atlanta, Dublin, Prague and Basel
I could have bought a Zurich one, but I wasn’t tecnically visiting, just changing planes, so maybe another time!
Does anyone know if Starbucks plans on making another set of City Mugs? I LOVE them, but I only have 12 and they are from various years.
Hi! anybody wo wants to trade mugs from the Phils? please email me at vic.dullas@yahoo.com. I will be in the NJ in July so let me know if you want to trade as well.
I have an extra Seattle mug (global city series), and would like to even trade it with any of these: San Franciso, Denver, Phoenix, Arizona, or New Mexico (or any mug from the Western US), except for Houston.
would you consider trading for “Venezia” Italy, I’d really like to trade with you!! Also, I would really like a San Francisco mug; don’t need a Chicago mug since I live 10miles from the Windy City. So, anyone with a San Francisco mug who would like a Venezia, Italy mug, let me know. I really would prefer to find a Verona mug since my best friend was born there, Italy, that is.
I have an extra Seattle mug that I would like to do an even trade with any mug from Western US (Peggy Joseph: I will take your Venezia, Italy as well)
My direct email address is: larmortek@gmail.com
(in my last post I forgot my email)
The Seattle mug I have is brand new in box with price tag on, and is of the same series featured in this website (you may call it “Global Series” or “City”). The trade must be of the same series.
Hi guys, I also recently started collecting the Starbucks mugs after s trip to Germany, and I love it! I am actually leaving the USA in 5 weeks to go to South Africa, and I am therefore looking for mugs from: California (San Diego, San Francisco), Arizona (Phoenix), Nevada (Las Vegas), Colorado (Denver). Please let me know if you guys have any of these cups up for sale, I have been buying 2 of each. This is my e-mail: gouws_fiela@yahoo.com.

I sure would like to buy a Boston mug; I spent time there at Ft. Devens in 1973 for Army Morse code and Radio operator school. I remember the little 8-track shak outside our gate, and the pizza place. I am still and again in touch w/ army buddy I rode bikes with at Ft Devens 35yrs later ps. How much are is the Boston mug. I’d have to send you a money order.

HI, I recently went to Ohio and forgot to get my mug.
I called to have one sent to me but they won’t do it :0(
Ideas?
Thanks
@Tina: do you know anyone there? in Ohio? if so, that’s what I’d do. ask someone you know. (assuming you already did this or,rather, don’t know anyone) I would call the store where you saw them and ask for the disrict manager’s email and try that. There MUST be someone. If you have a FB page, put it on there and on Sbux FB page.
I live near Toledo and I think they have the Ohio mug down there, I wouldn’t mind picking one up for you and sending it. I was in Tennessee last week and found they only have SBux mugs for Memphis and Nashville. I was in Gatlinburg and nothing there!
Nothing in Kentucky. I got the Ohio mug in Cincinnati and they no longer have Cincinnati mugs.
I have the older Indy and Los Angeles mugs, the original Chicago mug and the newer Tampa, Florida, Twin Cities, New York, Ohio and Detroit. Anyone wants Detroit, let me know, I can get them easily.
anybody know how to contact somebody on here who says they can send you a mug or want a particular mug? there doesnt seem to be a contact link and unless people leave an email address in theyre blog it doesnt look like you can.
perhaps i am missing something here but i would be keen to contact members who can send mugs and likewise i can send mugs also
someone please let me know how
thanks
phil.harv@yahoo.co.uk
I’m putting up my email if you are looking for Ohio or Detroit city mugs. I’d love Boston or D.C. My collection is small. reach me at jr7680@aol.com
@Phil – This website is a blog. It’s a web log. I write articles. Click the publish button. Tweet them. Lather, rinse, repeat for two years. There is nothing on this site really about selling (other than perhaps the aamzon.com widget to the right which I hope people will use to buy whatever they want to). (Look at the date and the content of this article)
In fact, in almost every other thread, the comments pertain to the content. Here, for some reason, Google keeps sending a steady flow of people to this article every day. That is fine. If people were to hypothetically leave contact info (email) they can connect and buy and sell a mug.
But at it’s core, take a look, this is not a buying and selling website. It’s a blog. It’s my fan site for my beloved Starbucks. If you want a sure fire way to buy and sell mugs, I would think ebay might be best.
I have access to California mugs if anybody is interested for trade send me an email liezlb@gmail.com….
I live in Florida and all the starbucks around me are stocked with florida mugs. I would love to trade florida mugs with people around the country. If anyone is interested, e-mail me at jwidelitz15 @ gmail.com
Melody, this is still one of my favorite posts! I love these mugs! I’ve just recently started collecting. I only have Dallas, Austin, and New York City so far. But now I look for them wherever I travel! I totally regret not starting this collection earlier because I’ve been several places that would have them. Oh well! Better late than never. 😀
This is a really neat site!
I am at the end of a 6 month tour in Germany and collected some extra mugs for trading. Yesterday I went to Bern Swizerland and the 2 Starbucks stores were out of mugs, delivery on Friday 🙁 I am going back home to Wisconsin in a couple of weeks and will not get back to Bern before leaving. Does anyone have Bern? I am in Stuttgart (yellow mug) and can pick them up for trade. I am also going to Amsterdam next weekend and Vienna. I really would like Bern but Budapest would be good also. What German cities do you need?
Hi, that’s a really cool conversation. I am collecting SB mugs nearly a year now. My collection is s.th. over 50 now. I am from Germany and able to send you nearly every German and Swiss mug. In general I am intetrsted in tradong. Just send me an email rinsel@gmx.net . Right now I am on holidays, so it can take a while till i am able zo answer
Does anyone know if an Oklahoma or Virginia mug exist? I currently live in VA & was raised in OK…would love to have these for my collection.
Thx! Stacie
Oklahoma and Virginia are not listed as available.
Here is the best site I found for the list of collectable Starbucks mugs.

Has anyone seen or have a Utah mug? Salt lake City? or any Utah? Oh and I was disappointed to find out they do not carry North Dakota mugs =( I traveled all the way there for one – and it was a no go.
Hi Kimberly! Welcome to the blog! Please poke around and “like” the blog’s facebook page. There is no Salt Lake City Starbucks city mug. People have gone to http://www.mystarbucksidea.com and requested, and coincidentally, this year a friend of mine went to SLC on business, and wanted to bring me one, and came back saying that there was none. I don’t even think there is a Utah mug! Maybe it’s time?! Thanks for finding my tiny little Starbucks blog!
i am selling my complete ollection of all florida city mugs this includes orlando, west palm and etc. I also have the bears for sale too. You may contact me at lindsay883@gmail.com or by phone at 561-352-3448
