The Starbucks Coffee Gear store is open to the public, and located on the eighth floor of the Starbucks headquarters. The address is 2401 Utah Avenue South, Seattle, Washington, 98134. Yes, you should visit next time you’re in Seattle!
When you go to the Starbucks Coffee Gear store, you’ll find unique merchandise items not sold anywhere else. (If you are a partner, you can buy most of the merchandise online at http://www.starbuckscoffeegear.com/). Once every few months, I drop by to see what’s new at the store. Their merchandise changes frequently. The Starbucks cycling jerseys seem to be in stock year round. You can browse all my articles on the Starbucks Coffee Gear store here.
The one item that jumped out at me as being a super cool new item was the Starbucks logo grocery sack made from recycled bottles.
I bought one of them at the end of February, and used it right away at the grocery store! As everyone knows, just as it’s the green thing to do to bring your own cup to Starbucks, it’s also “green” to bring your own sacks to the grocery. And here in Seattle, there are no plastic sacks at the grocery store (banned by city ordinance) and you get charged for having not brought in your own bag. It’s usually about five to ten cents bag charge, however I think the merchant can legally charge you a 25 cent fee for needing a paper bag at the grocery. I love this grocery sack. It’s strong, large, and works great at the grocery!
New: iPhone 5 official cases:
The new iPhone 5 official Starbucks cases are finally in. I had dropped by in February, and they weren’t in yet, and on today’s visit (March 25, 2013), I discovered that they’ve just come in. I know that several readers have told me that they want an iPhone 5 Starbucks cover. There are two styles. One is the “Year of the Snake” design, and the other is in black and has the star pattern associated with My Starbucks Rewards:
Looking at those iPhone covers almost makes me wish I had an iPhone, but I really like my Android. I think I prefer the black stars pattern one.

You’re entering to win two great bags – One is the “Cape Code Tote.” That one has the logo on the front, and it’s a nice sturdy canvas bag. These two bags are super handy and your friends will be jealous!
Here are your bags, if you’re the winner:

The one thing that I wished for and have actually expressed to Starbucks is v-neck T-shirts. I loathe crew neck tees and this is one of the main reasons I have spent almost zero dollars on Starbucks gear… I simply would not wear it.
Hi,Melody! Thank you for your posts! I work at a store in San Diego County and I LOVE that I’ve stumbled on your blog a short while ago. Some merchandise I really want to see is more reusable grocery bags, ones that can fold up really small and fit in my purse. More Venti sized mugs would be nice too, both “travel” ones that are leak proof and “at home” ones. More clothing would be neat, like themed t-shirts/sweatshirts that coordinate with our promotions and special coffee offerings; wouldn’t it be amazing to have a Casi Cielo sweatshirt? :o)
Aloha for posting! I would love to see them bring back some coffee master gear. You know like: coffee master work polos, pens, note books…the works! Oh and maybe some coffee master bags! Id use it for everything! Oh and some jackets too. Sorry my list goes on forever!
Hi, Melody. I have really enjoyed all your info from Starbucks. I’m not sure what is already available at the merchandise store, but I would love to see smaller shirts. I am a rather small-built female and usually have to get Large size Youth t-shirts when I shop. So I don’t know if the Starbucks shirts run that small. Also, different size tote bags would be great. AND, how about opening a Starbucks merchandise store in other cities — like near me in Chicago! 🙂
Melody nice to see an update on the coffee gear store. I would enjoy seeing some tee shirts with the coffee stamps on them, some note cards with coffee designs and them, and anything creative and unusual. I like the canvas tote. Thanks melody. The blog is great.
Add this to another one of the reasons why I must visit Seattle!
Anyway, as Shayne has already stated I would love to see some Coffee Master related items so I can proudly show my coffee passion with pride! As for my own ideas, as a partner it would be great if Starbucks were able to come up with a refillable retractable Sharpie/permanent marker that has an area to write our name/personalize. We go through so many pens (with many of them disappearing into some peoples’ pockets, I’m sure it would be popular if priced right. As a consumer, I would like to see more Starbucks exclusive coffee brewing equipment like French presses, kettles, and so forth.
A pair of Starbucks dress shoes. Heels and flats! Imagine how cute that would be. Ooh but then I need a Starbucks dress to go with it… And a Starbucks purse. Starbucks jewelry. I guess what I am saying is a whole Starbucks outfit.
I was having trouble really seeing the pics on my phone so now that I am on my computer I can see more clearly the pics and I think the snake phone case is really nice. I still cannot understand why SB does not do regional coffee gear stores!
Melody, I always enjoy your blog post when you visit the Starbucks Coffee Gear Store.
I would like to see a Starbucks Green wind breaker with a series of the logo patches from original to current circling a Starbucks mug patch. Styled for both guys and gals, lightweight and rain repellant, just the thing while touring Seattle.
DadCooks – You’ll get this. Every time I write about the Coffee Gear store, I think of Cupajoe4evamo on MyStarbucksIdea.com – Granted, a lot of his ideas are out there, and unrealistic, but sometimes he will come up with ideas that are total fit for the Coffee Gear store, or have been done before!
I still wish they would bring back the amazing heavy thick hot chocolate they had for a while. But I guess that’s not about the store! Copper-banded mugs – I have a black one and would love to have more of them.
Hi! Thank you for showing all the interesting things that are available at the Starbucks CoffeeGear Store. If I had a choice, I would love to see a Starbucks backpack. I’m in college, and I would love to have one!
I visited about 6 years ago when I visited Seattle. I just wish the Coffee Gear store was open to Canadian Partners. =(
Yah us Canadian partners really do get the short end of the stick; there is a Canadian Starbucks store but its soooo limited in selection. Glad my manager got us US store access for a bit. 🙂
I’d like to see playing cards, umbrellas and ipad/laptop sleeves.
Are you looking for stuff in the Coffee Gear store or to be sold in a regular Starbucks? If so, I want more stainless steel tumblers, in a variety of sizes. Especially as someone else mentioned in the Venti size. There are a lot of people who want that size and if there’s a choice it’s usually only one design. Personally I would also like coasters with the siren on them. The ones we had at Christmas were pretty…they were just missing the pretty lady from them!
As for the Coffee Gear Store? I’d just like to be able to shop from it on a regular basis.
I love that Cape Cod Tote, it looks like the perfect thing to drag all my stuff back and forth to work and to meetings, etc. 🙂
You are the second Michelle to enter. This could get a little confusing. Oh well! I will figure it out! I was primarily thinking of the Coffee Gear store’s merch, since they’re sponsoring this, but there is similarity between what’s sold in stores. By the way, I like Starbucks coasters too – I have a photo of the Coffee Gear’s logo coasters here: http://www.starbucksmelody.com/2012/11/08/coffee-gear-store-at-starbucks-update-november-2012/
I’ve never noticed another Michelle here till today!
Yes, those are what I want! I think we could sell a lot of them in the store.
Hi Melody, I would like to see some car accessories, like air freshners or steering wheel covers. I wish the coffee gear store online has more of what the actual store had.Your pictures make me want to go to Seattle!
Venti sized stainless steel tumblers and playing cards.
Besides the usual magnets, post cards, pens, and coffee samples, I’d absolutely LOVE to see Starbucks sell something I’ve been looking for everywhere, but have never found: coffee scented car freshener sprays or sachets. Think about it. Who wants to smell some nasty chemical cherry or pina colada when they get into their hot car to drive home after a hard day, when they could catch a refreshing whiff of fresh Pike’s Place instead? I bet coffee scented cars would also have the added benefit of helping people stay alert (since so many of us use coffee to stay awake, it could be an interesting Pavlovian experiment). If they had these, I’d buy out the store!
Good morning 🙂
I would love to see more billboard bags. I use mine everyday and frequently have to fight off my mother who covets it.
Oh I remember those! That was a great idea by Starbucks – Use billboards to make tote bags! There are (or were) a number of those create jobs for USA billboards in Seattle – Would love to see those turned into a tote. As I recall, Starbucks used a Frappucino billboard for the old totes (the one that you have) but I’d vote for the Create Jobs billboards. Excellent suggestion!
Keychains! A countertop display with a few different themed options would sell like crazy in my store. Any and all apparel: tshirts, hats, jackets. I’d also like to see a bigger selection of reusable sleeves.
I’d love if they’d sell some Starbucks t-shirts in the coffee shops!
I would die to go to this store! maybe someday…on my way to Alaska! What would I like to see in Sbux: this is not creative, just very old school: more more of yesterday, like as in the ’90’s. ALOT of coffee, black label, in all stores, not just Clover stores, NO PPR, at all, ever..never ever even roasted by Sbux :((, lots of pastries and season appropriate merchandise…little stuff but desired, Valentine’s, coffee-drink recipe books just handed out, coffee ware, no Blonde, maybe even no VIA but more than anything (and BOLDALLDAY), more than anything, manual hand-pulled shots. That’s my dream. (you never said it had to be realistic, did you?) That’s my dream. Also, as usual, amazing to see the comment GROW so rapidly with a ‘giveaway’…I almost feel guilty commenting in one.
Every time I do giveaway, it reminds me again how many readers there are. Based on my Google Analytics, these readers are here all the time, I think. And many come comment for the giveaways. And I am okay with that. 🙂
It amazes me that you guys don’t get bold all day in the US. We brew PPR, Bold and Blonde almost all day. Blonde is stopped at 5pm in my store and we stop Bold at 8pm…but that is based entirely on the customer’s demand. When we went to brewing all three we brewed them all open to close and have cut back since.
Out of curiosity, do you have a hard time getting a pour-over or press of bold in the afternoon if you want it? My mom is often told that they don’t have blonde if she’s there after noon, nobody ever offers to make her a cup. I told her to ask them to make it and that they should do it, but I don’t know if she bothers.
I think in many areas of the country, there’s still problems getting a cup of bold coffee after noon. Here in Seattle, I am not exaggerating to say that I live within one mile of 8 Clover stores, so the problem doesn’t affect me here. Having said that, I absolutely recognize that it’s still a problem elsewhere, where the Clover option is not plentiful.
I would love a calender that has coupons on it for each month. I would love perhaps an apron.
Thanks for offering this contest. I would love to see playing cards at Starbucks that feature the Siren logo at the back and drink recipes at the front.
I LOVE those little taster cups! It would be great if the city mugs were available in more Cities. A friend of mine came across city mugs at Dunkin Donuts in Connecticut – did they steal the idea?? I love the Starbucks city mugs But Starbucks does not have a Connecticut mug =/ they are def. missing a few states. It would be cool to see them all in one merchandise store like this one but I guess that does defeat the purpose of visiting each store.. Great pics of this store I def. want to visit!!
finally, iphone5 cases!!!!!!!! i’ve been coveting that cape cod bag on the coffee gear website! since it’s limited i guess i should order it before it is gone!
i am really sad that they discontinued the infant items, onesies, aprons, etc. those always made a perfect baby shower gift for a partner or a customer.
There are infant items currently in the store. I get the impression that there are small differences between what’s in the actual store, and on the Coffee Gear website – but having never logged into the Coffee Gear website, I can’t say! LOL
yes, there are different items, or in the instance of the recycled bag. same item, different colors.
i’ll have to pick up some baby gear in june for a few upcoming starbucks babies 🙂
i contacted coffeegear, and they said they should have baby items back in stock late april/early may. yay!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
I just love that white logo hoodie! I have been hoping Starbucks would put out a hoodie sweatshirt like that, I hope it will be available on the website at some point since I can’t see me going to Seattle soon. It seems there is already a plethora of merchandise to choose from, so I bet they may already have the merchandise I would like to see. I would like to see office supplies other than pens, maybe a few other kinds of totes, and maybe a beach towel?
i would also like to see more coffee master related items. there used to be mugs, shirts, tasting cups……
More toys, because kids love Starbucks too! We saw some small plush animals at a Starbucks in Hawaii wearing little Starbucks logo t-shirts. This would be cute to give as a gift along with a gift card.
How about a large insulated lunch bag? I need a new one but the ones in your pictures look kinda small.
This is great! Seeing the bike top makes me want Starbucks yoga gear!!
Hola everyone!! I suppose I would love to see, as strange as it is, little Starbucks clothes, collars, etc for pets!! I love to dress up my little Chihuahua and she loves it too, and I’ve always wished I would find little Starbucks things for her to wear 🙂 Sorry Im one of the strange ones haha. Another thing I’d like to see is a Starbucks laptop carrier catering to all laptop sizes, my laptop is just too big for the one on the coffeegear site :/
I want to see Starbucks earmuffs for the cold mornings waiting at the bus stop with fresh coffee 🙂
I would love to see (and purchase!) a Timbuk2 messanger bag with the Starbucks logo!
I found this Frappuccino bag through a quick google search! Maybe I’ll have to have Timbuk2 custom make one for me.
I’d love to see t-shirts, posters, cups, or just anything with the coffee stamps on them. Also really wish we’d get Halloween merchandise again.
I’d like to see some of the overseas merchandise brought here! I see pictures of really nice notebooks and pens available in Asia. And the pretty Cherry Blossom patterned items like tumblers I’d love to get as well! 🙂
i know they want to keep these items semi-exclusive to the gear store, but i
would love it if they sometimes offered these items online or in the cafes. one of these days i will get down to sodo and actually visit!
something i would like is ‘little’ jewelry with the logo or bag designs. like stud earrings, or a small, not obtrusive pendant.
(i could probably make some for myself, if i could find the time)
I would really like to see the canvas bag that you have above at my local Starbucks store. It looks really cool and durable enough to use for multiple purposes. Really, I’d like to see the Starbucks Gear available to customers, along with partners.
I love Starbucks reusable $1 cups. Even more than the more expensive ones I’ve purchased. I wish they came in venti size.
Air fresheners for auto and closets in coffee scents would be fun ~ roasted coffee, hazelnut latte, mocha! And potholders printed with the different roast labels.
